Orlando, Florida is a premier entertainment destination known worldwide for its beautiful weather and popular theme parks. Whether you are an aspiring vocalist taking singing lessons in Orlando or a seasoned performer, there are countless ways to become involved in central Florida's vibrant performing arts community. Opportunities abound for the musical theater enthusiast. Take center stage with a role in a local production at Orlando Repertory Theatre, Theatre Downtown, or Orlando Shakespeare Theater. Not ready to step into the limelight? Attend a performance and scope out local talent or enjoy a “Broadway Across America” production of award-winning musicals at the Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre. The home of Walt Disney World and Universal Studios, Orlando's thriving entertainment industry offers both young and experienced vocalists opportunities to showcase their talents in theater, television and film.
Whether your dream is to participate in a community talent show or pursue a professional career as a singer, singing lessons in Orlando will help you develop the skills and confidence you need to realize your aspirations. As a voice teacher based in Orlando for the past two years, I have taught diverse musical styles to students of all ages. I adopt a holistic approach to training the voice, based on classical methods, and facilitate the application of core techniques to any genre of vocal literature, from musical theater to pop and country. Every individual's voice is as unique as the goals that fuel our pursuit of self-improvement and discovery. In my studio, you will develop the ability to communicate with your audience by learning about the structural elements of music and how they relate to drama and emotion. Above all, you will experience a heightened awareness of your vocal instrument and techniques necessary to produce a controlled, resonant tone. My philosophy is that mistakes are opportunities for improvement. For the duration of our lesson, my students are in a private, nurturing zone of free expression. Join me in an exploration of personal talent and creativity – take singing lessons in Orlando!
Learn to sing with posture, breath and enunciation. Practice the skills needed to have a voice for life. Learn songs and exercises to strengthen your voice.
The act of singing changes the chemistry of our bodies! A team of German scientists have found that vocalizing spurs the production of oxytocin, a hormone commonly referred to as the "love" molecule. Oxytocin is known to heighten happiness, well-being, trust and reduce stress and anxiety. We will practice breathing exercises (pranayama) to increase breath capacity and control. You will learn techniques to smooth the break (passagio) to sing with a connected tone. You will know how to engage the "yawning" muscles (soft palate, mylohyoid, sternohyoid, thyrohyoid) to maximize resonance. We will practice exercises to relax the tongue and jaw to project high notes effortlessly. Developing "middle voice" will extend our vocal range and eliminate strain and fatigue. We will choose repertoire that highlights your vocal strengths and discuss stage presence and expression through song. I highly recommend "The New Voice" by Alan Greene.
I teach beginners to professionals and everyone in between. All genres taught and good proper technique applied to all styles. I teach projection, resonation, good intonation/pitch, pure clear tonal quality, training of ear and eye(reading music), expressive singing, flexibility/agility of range, and expanding range, stage presence, confidence, and microphone technique. I teach the foundation of Classical bel canto technique to every style for powerful, passionate singing.
I love teaching and I have been doing it for 14 years. I started teaching as an adjunct professor at Florida State University while receiving my Masters degree in vocal performance. I have gone on to sing with small Opera companies, Universal Studios, and cruise ships. However, teaching is something that I remain passionate about. For me it is rewarding to see my students grow as performers and become stronger singers.
