My son enjoys his music lessons with Jonathan, who is infinitely patient teaching what can be a challenging instrument. My son responds well to Jonathan's instruction, and he appreciates having access to a professional performer as a teacher. Jonathan encourages my son to learn a variety of music, including both challenging classical pieces and more recognizable popular and jazz pieces, which helps to sustain his interest in the lessons.

About Bobby
I am a jazz trumpeter, improviser, and composer as well as an avid listener and enthusiastic educator. I maintain an active performance schedule playing improvised music as well as funk, soul, afro-beat, reggae, hip-hop, and American folk music. In addition to trumpet, I have experience performing and recording on slide trumpet, trombone, baritone horn, and french horn. I write and arrange music for my own groups and regularly write and record horn arrangements for folk, pop, and reggae groups. I have attended Berklee College of Music and Ithaca College, and I have a Master's degree in jazz trumpet performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.

I have over nine years of experience working with students ages 7 to adult. I have worked both from my home studio and though several public and community music school program
s including the Hudson Arts Alliance in Hudson, MA, the Kittredge Elementary School in North Andover, MA, and the Performing Arts Center of Metro West in Framingham, MA. I have studied jazz performance with trumpet greats John McNeil and Walter White, improvisation with jazz gurus David Schumacher and Jerry Bergonzi, and George Russell's Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization with master composer and theorist Ben Schwendener.

As an educator, my aim is to inspire in my students an enthusiasm for the artistic performance of music of any style. I strive to convey my own excitement for the art to young trumpeters and improvisers, and I have worked to encourage self-motivation and a longstanding interest in musical self-expression in elementary through high school students and adults. I have experience performing many styles of music from jazz and experimental improvised music to funk, reggae, and afro-beat, and I use my knowledge of divergent genres to encourage creative experimentation and convey the expressive artistic elements shared by all music. As an improviser I am particularly interested in teaching the theory and philosophy of spontaneous composition and musical communication.

My 11 yo son has been taking trumpet lessons with Bobby for about half a year now. We are so glad to have found Bobby, as he is an extremely professional, knowledgeable and dedicated instructor. He is always timely and thorough with his lessons. Bobby finds music pieces which are just challenging enough for my son, and my son seems to enjoy his time with Bobby. I also like his balance between teaching music theory and instrument instruction. Bobby explains concepts clearly, and relates well to my son, with a sense of humor and patience. My son has clearly improved in just a few months, and we cannot be happier!

I have been teaching French horn for 22 years. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I presently teach music at 3 schools (1 college) and only have a few lessons slots available. I look forward to working with you.

Playing the horn has been a life long passion of mine and has been both rewarding and demanding. It has kept me on the road and enabled me to meet wonderful people from all walks of life as well as great musicians and artists who have been truly inspiring. They have strengthened my belief in a close knit world wide family of generous and creative human beings striving to change the world for the better. As a performer and a teacher, I am involved in numerous projects with young musicians and artists, and I would love to share the knowledge I've learned from my teachers, and experience as performer with music lovers at any level, from beginner to the advanced student.

About Trevor
Playing the horn and sharing the joy of music is one of my greatest passions in life. As a teacher, I am committed to nurturing my students’ talents and abilities. I aim to help each student recognize and reach their fullest potential, and help them discover new opportunities and possibilities in their musical lives. I love to keep my students motivated and focused in a very positive and creative learning atmosphere. I am here to instill my students desire to make great music, and to develop, grow, and achieve greater confidence in themselves as performers.

My students can expect to improve week to week in their technique and music making. Every student has different specific needs, and it is my job to develop a custom tailored approach to ensure their needs are met. My teaching methods are derived from from my training and studying ex
perience at Interlochen Arts Academy, The Juilliard School, and in Europe at the Mozarteum Salzburg University, with techniques and methods taught to me by my teachers Radovan Vlatković, Frøydis Ree Wekre, and Hermann Baumann.

I teach music students of all different ages and experience levels. My goal for new or beginning students is to apply solid foundational techniques and foster a disciplined daily practice routine to ensure their progress on the horn accelerates at a healthy pace. In order to become a great player and maintain a beautiful sound for years to come, it is essential to have a strong solid foundation and daily warm up routine. Together, we will find a suitable warm up method, as well as daily exercises and etudes in order to develop a strong embouchure, enhance the student's own individual sound, and play as relaxed as possible. For the intermediate level or advanced students, I work on higher level etudes and technical exercises, and building and refinement of the solo horn repertoire. I am also happy to assist with school/orchestra audition preparation, and any other specific needs or goals the student is interested in or requests.

While my personal passion and musical endeavor is the French Horn, I am open to assisting other musicians and instrumentalists interested in developing their musical skills. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!

For more information about me please see my personal website.

I am an avid brass performer and teacher in the greater Baltimore area, having played for over a decade. In lessons, we will work out of some of the most trusted method books, discuss fundamental playing techniques in an accessible and easy-to-understand way, and search for unique solutions to individual problems as I tailor my teaching method to your learning style. All ages are welcome.

About Zachary
Hello! My name is Zachary (or Zac for short) and I am a Baltimore-based brass performer and teacher. I have been playing euphonium and other brass instruments for 14 years. Currently, I am in my final year as a music education student at Towson University, where I study euphonium with US Navy musician James Hicks. In addition to euphonium, I am quite proficient on both trombone and tuba, and have taught trumpet and horn as well.

Currently, I play euphonium in the Towson University Symphonic Band and Towson University Tuba Euphonium Ensemble, trombone in a folk-rock style band, and am an avid solo artist. I also have two years of experience as a nationally touring member of the Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps. In addition to these experiences, I have performed with the Cadets2 Drum & Bugle Corps, the Baltimore Ravens Marching Band, and th
e Bushwackers Drum & Bugle Corps. In 2013, I was a recipient of the United States Marine Corps Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence.

Outside of performing, I am an avid teacher in the Baltimore area and beyond. I have worked as an instructor with various high school bands, including Perry Hall High School, Rockville High School, and Urbana High School.

Zac taught me how to properly perform an aria in front of a whole lot of important people that I was stressed about. He gave me some excellent pointers on how to work with a pianist. His knowledge of music and his experience in performance has certainly shaped the way I perceive my own performances ever since that lesson.

As a musician, Zac is above and beyond talented. Because of his proficiency and excellence, he offers great insight and helpful hints on how to play properly and with support, two extremely important parts of being a musician. Lastly, it is quite obvious what music means to him. His passion is inspiring, and makes me want to continue to pursue and practice my instrument. His lessons helped me develop from a second part to a first part, enabling me to play higher and more challenging parts for my band. Knowing that I was able to leave better than I started makes myself feel lucky and appreciative that I was able to take lessons with a person like Zac. Overall, one of the best music instructors I have had the pleasure of working with.
