About Jeralee

Welcoming students of all ages! If you are looking for a way to expand your skills or develop new hobbies, music and the arts can provide a powerful outlet for everyday stress while allowing you to produce something beautiful. Ever since beginning piano lessons at four years old, I have enjoyed both performing and teaching music. I also have experience in floral design and sewing; I regularly provide flower arrangements and make my own clothes. Being able to do these things for myself and others has made me happier than anything else! My teaching experience is extensive, ranging from private tutoring to classroom teaching. I love working with others in whatever environment is most comfortable for them. I am happy to come teach you in your home or another convenient location. ...

Tegan S.

Somerville, MA

20+ years experience. Includes: pattern drafting, pattern adjustment, sizing difficulties, tailoring, alterations, ornamentation, etc. Past experience has included custom corsetry and theatrical costuming.

Beginning students will learn the parts of the sewing machine, understand the basics of hand sewing, general techniques, and create simple, fun projects for themselves. The focus will always be upon clean, solid finishing and the student will form good sewing habits.

Intermediate students will learn more specific techniques, such as inserting grommets, working with trims, and pattern alterations. The strong habits built up from beginning sewing will continue to bear fruit as we learn more complex material.

Advanced students will explore pattern drafting and more specific techniques such as when to use cartridge pleating over box pleating and couture finishing techniques.

Great experience, Tegen is a good explainer and a good improviser in sewing, looking for fitting solutions if she doesn't already know them. Models how to figure out for yourself in the future.

Tegan is a lovely young woman with great skills in teaching children music theory and piano for beginners. Two of our children are currently taking lessons and both are thrilled with Tegan. She is patient, kind, a master at her art and very entertaining while creating a constructive, fun atmosphere for children.

Tegan is very prompt - and her focus on teaching is evident from the moment she sits at the piano. This is our first experience with TakeLessons but definitely not our last thanks to Tegan. She is an asset and a joy to be around. We will definitely continue our class' with her - she is the perfect choice for our family.

I've only had two 2 hour sewing lessons so far with Tegan (I plan on taking more) and I am already showing a great deal of improvement and have a lot more confidence in my sewing. Tegan is super helpful and knowledgeable. She shows a deep understanding of sewing because she knows multiple different ways and techniques on how to approach a task and explains why, how, and what the outcome will be. She is patient and makes you feel very comfortable and relaxed which is sometimes hard to do when you're learning something new. I would totally recommend her to anyone new to sewing! Overall my experience has been great :)

Cherai M.

Boston, MA

I first learned to sew 10 years ago and I started teaching my niece when she was 3 years old. I like to start with learning the parts of the sewing machine and then learning how to control the foot peddle and sew straight lines using paper. Then I go on to basic projects like pillows.

About Cherai

Hi my name is Cherai and I have been sewing and baking for 10 years. I studied fashion design at Lasell College in Newton Massachusetts. For my senior year I completed a girls clothing collection, in which I designed and sewed all of the garments. All of the information for my collection, including pictures can be viewed at. Also I studied culinary arts and baking through Job Corps in which I learned to bake a variety of breads, cookies, cakes, and pies from scratch.
