About Matthew

Hi.. My name is Matt. I'm a very energetic, friendly, understanding & passionate music coach who has worked with students & clientele throughout the US. Possessing more than 25 years of music training & music industry experience, I've been able to take people's Playing to amazing levels.

I've networked and/or shared the stage with many famous NW music legends:
1.) Roger Fisher- Heart-2013 Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame Inductee
2.) Lynn Sorensen- Paul Rogers/Bad Co/KZOK's Spike & Impalers
3.) Donny Evola - Geoff Tate/Former Queensryche/Foghat
4.) Jeff Kathan- Paul Rogers/Bad Company/Montros
e
5.) Doug Mcgrew- Geoff Tate/Former Queensryche Singer/Operation Mindcrime
6.) Update - 12/21/2016 For the last 4 months I have been playing off and on with Rudy Parris from NBC TV's "The Voice". Season 3 - Team Blake. He is an incredible musician and I'm proud to call him and his manager my friends. His new album coming out is nothing short of amazing. In fact everyone I've mentioned on this list are pro all the way and great guys as well. I"m honored to have played with them.

I challenge my students to view music more than just as a "skill", but also a tool to communicate effectively and to combat life's obstacles.

I have had many guitar teachers myself including one true Famous Rock Star legend here in Pacific NW. Congrats Rog. U Earned It, & inspire myself, & others everyday.

You got to know the rules 1st, before you can then break the rules. This is how you develop your own unique style. And it's what separates the Pro Players from the rest of the pack.

But even if you don't want to play professionally, maybe you just want to learn a few chords, licks, songs, for yourself, or to impress friends. That's okay too!

I welcome every level and style. I always learn something from my students.
That's what music is all about. Learning & trading tips and licks from other musicians.

Bottom Line Is... I can help you learn and progress on your instrument faster...

Let me be the Music Coach to get you there!

Mathew has a very approachable way of teaching music theory and it's application. He has a wealth of knowledge which is evident in how he speaks to me( his student), his accomplishments, and how his lesson plans are laid out. I have attended many other tutors where the curriculum was dull and uncomprehensive. With Matthew he took the time to find out who and what I liked and aspired to sing like, then made a tailored plan allowing me to sing songs that I want to. Matthew takes an approach that simplifies theory and makes it fun. I look forward to more lessons with him, and will look into guitar lessons with him as well

Matt wasted no time and gave me a quick refresher in areas I needed. He helped me to realize what and how I need to practice. He also helped me to apply what he taught today by showing me some riffs using those areas and techniques. It was fun!

Todd has been teaching my 14 year old son for several months now. I have to say he has kept my son's interest in the instrument and tailoring teaching to his interest perfectly. Todd is very pleasant and accommodating to my family's scheduling needs. I would recommend him highly!

My daughter has been taking lessons from Tod since last December. He is patient and encouraging with her and she enjoys her lessons. He lets her pick the music she wants to play while ensuring she is learning the fundamentals of reading music.

I have taught classical, acoustic, electric, rock, country, blues, and mariachi as far as genres are concerned. I'm always open to more though! I generally start by teaching note reading with the Progressive Guitar book series, 3 in all. After that I move over to Suzuki Classical Guitar training to work the right hand technique and formal note reading skills. It is also required that my students find other songs of their choosing to supplement the classical. I find it is important, even necessary, that students start developing their musical taste early, while they get used to playing many styles of music. Of course, as a student, you have full right to design your own curriculum if there are things you want to learn, or things you prefer not to. If there is a specific genre you're interested in, or you just want to be able to play along with others around a campfire, I can help you get started! I also have a significant amount of experience teaching siblings (and getting them to ...

About Giuliana

Hi there! I'm a music teacher and private academic tutor for students with learning disabilities, but I have taught in every capacity you can think of! Since I graduated with a degree in music (viola) with honors from UC Berkeley in 2010 I have been a full time substitute, classroom music/orchestra/private teacher with 42 private students a week and a k-12 academic tutor, all in public and private schools with both high and low income students from various demographics. But more to the point, I love teaching and tutoring. I believe in giving back the quality education I've received, and there'
s nothing more fulfilling than helping someone else reach their goals. My students tell me I'm a fun, engaging teacher who is understanding and accommodating to their needs, but not afraid crack down and be strict when necessary. I am currently in the process of moving to Seattle to attend the University of Washington for my Master's in Music Education and Cognition. I look forward to meeting you!

I had the pleasure of having Ms. Conti as a music teacher at Brighton Private Elementary School. As the principal, I was amazed at her ability to instill in children her love for music. I was also inspired by her understanding of the power music plays in our lives and more specifically in our learning of all subject matter. She is amazing, talented, and kind.

Giuliana is a wonderful teacher. She has been both patient and thorough as I stumble through the basics of learning the violin. It's a great help that she has also been flexible with the lesson sessions, as I often deal with an irregular schedule.

My motto is my students create their own lesson. However, I do have a more structured plan for younger students. This being said, all of my students should expect to learn proper exercises and scales to move along progress. All students will learn basics of music theory as well as musicality. I also drive my students to experiment with improv as well as create their own music.

I will not travel to Seattle, Vashon Island, Bainbridge Island. I am a West Sound teacher. Please take this into account in the distance radius.

About Yolandi

I believe anyone has the ability to learn music. On May 1st I graduated From Weber State University with my Bachelors in K-12 Music Education. I got the chance to be instructed by great minds like Viktor Uzur (known worldwide for the Richter/Uzur Duo) and work along side talented students like Fan Ya Lin (pianist with a professorship at Julliard). Fall 2016 I will be attending the School of Music of University of Washington to get my masters in composition.
My motto is my students create their own lesson. I formulate lesson plans off of the styles of music you are most interested in. However,
