Annalise S.

Yucaipa, CA

Monologue coaching, improv, scene work, and voice and movement exercises.

About Annalise

I was born and raised in Yucaipa, CA and I have a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from the University of Redlands. I have been performing for 12 years. Some of my favorite roles include Penny (Hairspray), Tessie Tura (Gypsy), The Baker's Wife (Into the Woods), Joy (Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella), Jenny (Company), Joanne (RENT), Jan (Grease), Milly (Seven Brides for Seven Brothers), Abigail Adams (1776), and Despina (Cosi Fan Tutte). I was artistic director for the University of Redlands Musical Theatre Company for two years and sang for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Arts Festival. I
am also an alumni of The American Theatre Wing's SpringboardNYC program.

"There is a vitality, a life force, a quickening that is translated through you into action and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique.
And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable it is nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.
You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly to the urges that motivate you.
Keep the channel open. No artist is pleased. There is no satisfaction whatever at any time. There is only a queer, divine dissatisfaction, a blessed unrest that keeps us marching and makes us more alive."

-Martha Graham to Agnes de Mille

*** Lesson Details ***
As a teacher, I am very positive, patient, and I work hard to understand and cater to a student's taste in music, theatre, art, and information. I focus 50% of my performance lessons on physical and vocal warm-ups and 50% on the student's chosen repertoire. I believe in working towards a goal, so I always push my students to perform. I keep a calendar of auditions that I encourage my students to attend.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Private room with a baby grand piano, full length mirror, other various instruments, and a waiting room with comfy couches. I have two cats and a dog who never go in the music room, but I make no promises for the waiting area.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in dramatic, comedic, and musical theatre, opera, jazz, pop, drawing, writing/grammar, and reading comprehension.

Annalise has a very impressive background in music and education, and it really reflects through her lessons with my daughter. She has instilled a lot of confidence in my daughter, to the point that she tried out for, and made, Advanced Choir at her school. I very highly recommend Annalise!

Jessie M.

Pasadena, CA

Learn the basics for acting in a fun way! Each lesson will be modified to fit the student's personal level, from beginner to advanced. Lessons will include information on how to audition, how to find auditions, audition preparation, acting lingo, how to choose monologues, how to create an acting resume and head shot, and so much more. We will work on your monologues or anything you would like to bring in, in addition to everything listed. I teach with patience and fun because I feel that this is the key to achieving goals and inspiring a good habit of practice.

About Jessie

Every student is a unique person who deserves a lesson customized to his or her individual needs. Each of my students prospers in an atmosphere of patience and encouragement. While the lessons are fun and enjoyable, the serious student will be supported in the development of skills leading to a rewarding career. And the more casual students will grow in an appreciation of music that will always enrich their lives.

As a music major I developed a deeper understanding of music theory, piano, voice, and theater. I received my A.A. in Music at College of the Desert and my Bachelor of Music degre
e at the University of Redlands- which I attended on a music scholarship. I have played leading roles in several operas and musicals in Southern California, including Gianni Schicchi, Die Fledermaus, La Boheme (DTL nominee), The Impresario, The Grand Duke, Patience (DTL award), Cosi fan tutte, Little Women the Musical, Seussical the Musical, and many more. I have also appeared in several concerts, opera scenes, competitions (winning music scholarships and theater awards), and worked as a singer at churches, restaurants, and in pop bands. I continue to perform and study music because performing is a part of who I am and I could never live without it.

With this experience under my belt, I feel a desire to pass on my knowledge to students. I carry a strong passion to help people develop their abilities and make them their own. I truly believe that if someone wants something out of life then they WILL achieve it with dedication, perseverance, confidence, and by having FUN doing it!

Jessie is awesome! As nervous as I was for my first lesson, she instantly put me at ease, put me through the paces of warm-up exercises, and I can't wait until next week!

Debbie K.

Burbank, CA

Lessons include an Audition and Cold Reading Tips Sheet as well as film clips emailed the day after the lesson for you to review your progress.

About Debbie

Tutoring has been a major part of my life for over 7 years and I love it. Seeing the excitement in a student's eyes when they finally get something they've struggled with is why I do what I do. My strength is in getting to know the way a student learns best and finding techniques that support that style and help the student grow.

I have experience working with mild autism and have multiple references if interested.

I've taken a few Improv classes with Wes, and let me say, they have been the most beneficial Improv classes for my career. Each exercise Wes used was not only fun, but helpful in strengthening my overall acting skills. He uses his knowledge to best benefit each student regardless of class size. His extensive knowledge of the craft can only help you, whether for stage or film. There's a sense of freedom that Wes helped me find in creating characters, navigating a scene, and preparing for auditions. I noticed incredible growth of my skills after taking just a few classes. I would highly encourage any actor to attend his class!!

Wesley is a fantastic teacher. His extensive experience with acting is immediately apparent in both his knowledge and skills. His ability as a teacher meant that in a sizable class I still received consistent attention. He makes the process of learning completely comfortable and enjoyable, and he has a lot to teach.
He's also hilarious, which never hurts.

High school theatre teachers are required to know a lot about the entire craft of theatre. . .but we can't know everything - and that's where Wes comes in. For me, Wes has coached Shakespearean speeches and taught a workshop on makeup for the stage. Both lessons were taught via FaceTime and were extremely effective. My students received top notch advice and instruction that was delivered in a manner that balanced professional, expert, and charming. . .they keep talking about Wes! Wes isn't just there for the lesson time, though. Like a great teacher should, he prepares in advance and follows up after. His attention to detail is excellent. I look forward to working with Wes in the future and recommend him without reservation and with enthusiasm.

I have taught acting classes for 5 years now.

Depending on your needs, I would customize each lesson to your goals. Every actress/actor has an ultimate goal, and we would try to achieve that by creating an overall plan.

My goal is to get you ready to get in front of casting. Depending on your acting skill level and experience, we will customize the lessons for your needs

About Drea

I have been in the creative industry since I was a child. I have been singing since I came out of the womb! And doing photography since high school. I am now in front and behind the camera as an actress/on camera host, and I am a professional photographer/videographer. I have behind the camera for companies such as VH1, MTV, Fuse TV, and the New York Post. In front of the camera, you have probably seen me in films such as Relativity Media's, "Act of Valor," "Baby Mama" (Opp Tina Fey/Sigourney Weaver), and Chris Rock's "I Think I Love my Wife." My experience both in front and behind the
camera compliments each other as I understand what is needed for both positions. I try to keep my lessons informative and fun! -- Anything can be achieved if you take your time and you really want it.

I teach both in front and behind the camera :)
