About Ariel

Hi! My name is Ariel. Thank you so much for looking at my profile. Here is some information about my educational background, performance career, and how I believe I benefit students. I was heralded as an “impressive young…discovery” by the Los Angeles Times in 2010 when I made my operatic debut with Long Beach Opera as Nancy T’ang in Adam’s Nixon in China. I have performed roles such as Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Micaela in Bizet’s Carmen, First Woman in Cherubini’s Medea, Second Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, and Giovanna in Verdi’s Rigoletto. I have been a soloist with the Blackbird Music Project, and I regularly collaborate with composers in the Southern California area. Bobby A. Los Angeles, CA

Voice lessons and vocal coaching in Atwater Village, Northeast Los Angeles, California!

Hello, I'm Bobby, a lifetime musician and performer. I teach vocal technique, interpretation, and performance coaching from my Atwater Village studio space. I've been a musician - pianist, songwriter, and singer - for nearly 30 years.

Students seek me out to beef up vocal performances with their band. I also teach keyboards/piano and songwriting, so you could say my speciality is young LA acts and singer-songwriters. But I love to teach adults of practically any age, level, or style; I can help with avoiding strain, proper style, diction, interpretation, expression, building confidence, channeling your best vocal tone, proper breath and support, range, and more!

OFFERINGS: Vocal coaching; beginning to intermediate voice lessons; in conjunction: keyboards / piano and songwriting, if desired

STYLES: Pop/rock, indie, singer-songwriter, Broadway, Jazz

About Bobby

I'm a piano teacher, pianist, composer, songwriter, singer, and lifetime music lover in beautiful Los Angeles, California. I began playing piano at age 7 and was forever smitten with learning music! I progressed rapidly and by high school I was winning multiple competitions and talent shows and performed as a featured artist with local youth orchestras in Corpus Christi, Texas. When I was 16, I began teaching piano and music theory to my peers and to kids. Then it was off to Austin where at the University of Texas I studied composition (piano principal under Dr. Betty Mallard) and wrote and arranged for keys (of course) as well as voice, strings, and choral groups I sang in. I'm a fun, laid-back person and my teaching style reflects that. However I thrive on doing things the right ...

I used to think that songwriting and composition was beyond me, that it was a gift only some people had and I wasn't one of the lucky ones. I mean, I had sung in chorus some and had taken piano as a kid, but I couldn't crack the code. When I started piano back up again as a lark with Bobby and then expressed my interest in songwriting, I wasn't expecting much from myself to be honest. After all, who was I kidding? But, Bobby really helped to decrypt the structure of songwriting for me and little by little, I started to really get the hang of it. From just the basic four chord pop tune to adding in some more unexpected choices, I'm totally that singer-songwriter I always embarrassingly envisioned in my head. And, he's been great with the vocals as well, helping me to know what works for my body and providing concrete tips for the kind of singing I want to do. Top-notch guy, definitely check him out.

I took a 35+ year break from piano lessons and was a little nervous to attempt it again. But Bobby made me feel very comfortable right off the bat and has been a great instructor. Very personable and extremely patient (and I'm sure my indelicate pounding has taxed that patience at times). His studio is well set-up and comfortable, and he really knows what he is talking about. Highly recommended!
Jessie M. Pasadena, CA

I begin each voice lesson with a warm-up to prepare the student for their session. Next, we do a series of exercises specially designed to help each individual develop their skill in a way that best fits them. We then work on a piece of their choice for the remainder of the lesson, perfecting their technique and helping them become performance ready. I teach with patience and fun because I feel that this is the key to achieving goals and inspiring a good habit of practice.

If you do not already have a song or sheet music to bring in I can help you choose one during your first lesson. I also require that my students keep a practice journal to record their daily practice sessions. If possible, please bring a recording device of some sort so you can record your lessons. It is a HUGE help to be able to listen back on your lessons and to use them in your daily practice! No experience is necessary, that is what I'm here for!

About Jessie

I fully enjoy teaching music and theater to others and spreading the art of performance, reaching out to all generations. I believe in customizing every lesson to be unique for my students in a way that will serve their individual needs. I teach with patience and encouragement and believe that students prosper and improve much more from a positive experience. My lessons are intended to be fun and influential in a positive light that can lead to a rewarding career, hobby, or just for personal enjoyment! Every since I was a little girl, I have been devoted to the arts. When I began college, I knew that music was my path. As a music major I developed a deeper understanding of music theory, piano, voice, and theater. I received my A.A. in Music at College of the Desert and my Bachelor of ...

My son is 6 years old and he is very happy taking piano lessons with Jesse. She is so nice, friendly and patient. My son started with Jesse about 3 weeks ago and so far so good! I recommend Jesse because she is very encouraging and supportive to my son. I am so glad I switched piano teachers because Jesse has all the qualities I was looking for in a piano instructor. My son is learning more each week and he is having fun taking lessons with Jesse!

Amazing singng instructor

Crystal has increased my daughter’s self-esteem and expressiveness through song. My daughter is now writing her own poetry and song lyrics, as well as being able to combat her once shyness quality. She loves to perform in front of others now and has a confidence level that amazes me, especially now that she is going into those “teen” years. I think a lot of thanks needs to go to Crystal, for assisting my daughter in reaching her current creative level!

Great piano instructor

Crystal is an amazing piano instructor. She is patient, understanding and dedicated. My daughter has learned so much from her. My daughter’s love for music has increased immensely since learning how to play the piano. This would never have been able to be accomplished without Crystal’s professional and caring teaching style.

I had never taken vocal lessons before, but I have always been interested in them. A few months ago, I finally decided to take classes and I signed up with Melody. I was a bit apprehensive because I've never sung for other people, but Melody made me feel comfortable and she was and has been completely supportive. She identifies problem areas like breathing, improper form, or technique and provides constructive criticism. Melody pushed me to hit notes I've never been able to and I've noticed my vocal range expanding and the overall quality and tone of my projection has improved. I’m extremely happy with Melody and highly recommend her to anyone looking to take singing classes.

I've always had a passion for singing, yet I had no experience as I believed I had a terrible voice.

That is what was in my mind when I signed up for Melody's vocal lessons. I always thought that a low self esteem beginner like me would be too nervous to sing in front of a professional musician. All of that changed when I stepped into Melody's studio on my first lesson. As soon as I walked through the door, I was greeted with a warm, welcoming smile. Throughout the lesson, Melody was extremely friendly yet very professional. From that point on, I knew I was going to have a great time learning from her.
And I did.
Melody blew me away with her singing; her voice was controlled, professional, and very beautiful. She knew how to effectively convert her skills into lessons, and there was always something new to learn every single week. Techniques such as proper breathing, warm ups, posture, and voice control were some of the many new things I would have never known of without the aid of Melody. She tackled every one of my questions thoroughly and with great detail no matter how dumb I thought my questions were. She carefully observed me every time I sang, and gave me personal tips that would improve my vocals. After just a few lessons, I was able to confidently sing in front of others.

In the end, I have to say goodbye to Melody as I am moving to a different county. I hate having to leave, as Melody was a phenomenal instructor; she set the bar high for anyone else I choose to learn from. I highly recommend her, and encourage anyone who wants to improve their singing to apply for her lessons.

Singing
I can finally sing with confidence!

I'm a 29 year old aspiring actress who lives in Hollywood. I've always loved to sing but often felt challenged when singing with my upper register. And because of that I was not comfortable to go to certain auditions that require singing. About 3 months ago I decided to make a change and start taking voice lessons with Melody. Melody was referred by one of my actor friends who also took lessons from her and found helpful. At our first lesson she conducted a thorough vocal assessment and pointed out my trouble area, which is singing with upper register. She also corrected my breathing habits at the spot and we warmed up for 20 mins. Right after the 1st session I could feel the improvement and I was very excited. With the practical techniques Melody teaches me, after only three months I can say that I'm in love with singing, and I'm much more confidant with my voice. Next time I'm definitely gonna take the audition that requires singing!

Melody is very nice and enthusiastic, definitely worth trying!
Samara K. Los Angeles, CA

In Music Performance sessions, focus is on communicating the character's journey, and approaching the song as a script to gain mastery of action. The emphasis on delivering the emotional narrative of the song allows for the student to release nerve inducing self consciousness. Vocal technique is always integrated into each lesson, allowing the growth of a solid foundation in pitch matching, usage of breath, and learning more about your own unique voice as an instrument.

I worked with Samara on monologues for college auditions and for my showcase, we worked together for a little under (I think) three months. She's such a great teacher, definitely no complaints. I really loved working with her and she totally helped build my confidence when it came to performing in front of others—I'm (or was) ironically shy/weird about performing monologues and pieces in front of people and have been since I started doing theatre (10 years ago). Nonetheless, I got over that after Samara helped me with my acting and I don't get pre-performance anxiety/nerves anymore. I don't think I would've been able to pull off any of my monologues had it not been for her lessons, she actually helped me choose one of the audition monologues because I couldn't find a second one. In the whole monologue/character-building process, she took notes and asked me questions that really made me think about my character and their motives and actions and whatnot. She's also very encouraging and would commend me on anything I did well or improved on. Point is, Samara is a superb teacher and human!! I'd confidently recommend her classes to anyone who needs help with their acting. Five stars because she definitely was the best instructor ever!!

I can't really put into words how great (and funny) Samara is. I wasn't sure if learning how to act online was going to work for me, but I can safely say after 5 Skype sessions with Samara, they have been totally worth it and more! In our lessons, I have learned about how to approach and analyze a script, what to do in cold-readings, handling nerves, how to give a memorable audition, really nifty relaxation and concentration techniques, and so much more. I always value Samara's insights not only into the craft of acting but the business aspect of it as well. Basically, she's a rockstar and I just feel lucky I stumbled upon her lesson page. Without which, I don't know if I'd have the confidence to pursue my dream of becoming a professional actor!! Thanks a billion, Samara!

I really did learn so much in every single one of my lessons with Samara! From Acting Technique to character work, to scene study, to how to nail comedy and drama, to classical text, and not to mention the helpful breath work and insanely fun exercises and warm-ups. Samara is the the absolute kindest, most compassionate, informative, hilarious, and most importantly - talented- not only acting coach, but teacher in general that I have ever spent time with. One of her talents is for creating a safe environment to work and grow in, something that I have found to be very rare amongst acting classes in general. I was excited literally everyday for my lessons, especially because I recognized how much hard work and dedication she put into it them herself.

Samara is the absolute best acting teacher I have had, and I’m so happy and thankful to have had the pleasure of being her student!
