Lily has been teaching violin to my 10 years old son for the past 10 months. We find her to be kind, patient, positive, and understanding. She is not overly strict nor critical, which fits well with my son's personality. She is mind-mannered so we do not feel pressure or discouraged when you are just learning and making mistakes. We are pleased with the progress my son has made in the past 10 months.

About Billy

I have been playing piano and guitar whilst performing for 8 years though I'm not short of experience. I went to Citrus College to perfect my guitar and piano playing and musicianship where I was moved to top of my class. I have been on tour with California's top cover group Night Shift going such places as Hawaii and numerous states for music festival performance and have been a hired musician for numerous groups for both recording and performing. I have musical knowledge in rock, blues, jazz, R&B, pop, salsa, reggae, funk, country, and many other genres. But enough about my knowledge. Let me
tell you about me: I love music. It's my passion and I've made a career out of what I do and love it. What I want to teach you are the skills that will allow you to continue to become more creative and precise but covering not only technique and theory, but why we choose certain things that sound and feel good and thus feeling beyond rewarded for what we've learned.

I'll cover soloing, learning chords, strumming, performing songs, learning songs, theory, technique, and multiple things you can come up with. And I promise I won't hit you with a ruler... We don't need a ruler for music anyways.

Ultimately, I feel lucky to be able to do what I do and I want to share it with you. That rhymes.

*** Lesson Details ***
I cover soloing, piano and guitar rhythms, learning chords, technique, theory, I do multiple genres as well and I do this all in a very progressive and interactive way that most of my students find fun and help the learning process. And I'm great with kids.

*** Studio Equipment ***
1979 Fender stratocaster guitar, Ibanez Hollowbody guitar, Yamaha MO6 keyboard, and numerous minor equipment.

*** Travel Equipment ***
1997 Geo Prizm.. very reliable

*** Specialties ***

Christina E.

Pasadena, CA

In my lessons, we will cover basic technique, scales, and repertoire. I do emphasize basic theory to help students better understand the music and learn pieces more quickly. While working on these technicalities, I also try to make lessons fun and engaging so that the music has depth and a natural flow rather than mechanical approach that tends to make music dry and robotic.

About Christina

My name is Christina and I am very passionate about the vocal arts, specifically Opera. Opera was a surprise in my life that I discovered in college. It moved me to a point where I knew it was what I wanted to pursue. Though singing classically takes great patience, discipline, and perseverance, that 5 minutes on stage projecting pure vocal freedom and expression make it well worth it. The classical technique can provide a great foundation to healthy singing, which can ensure a long vocal life.
Along side opera, I believe basic knowledge in piano is extremely beneficial in improving musicali
ty and an understanding of each piece. Piano greatly improves sight reading and ones ability to learn music quickly and efficiently. It can allow one to develop an understanding of harmony and context within each unique piece of music.
I have recently started teaching and would love to help and guide those interested in music, specifically classical voice, opera, musical theater, and piano. I would love to share the great joy it brings me with others and pass down what I have learned over the years. I have completed courses in music pedagogy and education alongside my degree, and believe in shaping my lessons around each individual's learning style so that each student may continue to grow while having fun.
I graduated with high honors from the University of California Santa Barbara in 2014 with a degree in music receiving both music and academic scholarships. I have performed a wide variety of roles with the university's Opera Scenes program, private showcases, and main staged productions. I was also the featured soprano soloist with the Santa Ynez Master Chorale and Orchestra for their Spring concert.

*I will drive to you for lessons being I don't have sufficient studio space. The only requirement I have is that a piano be present for scales and learning music.

Students will receive private one-on-one piano instruction from a second-generation private music teacher and musician. Students will be able to learn a lifelong skill, and have fun doing it!

About Troy

I am a second generation piano and clarinet teacher who was raised playing music, being taught piano and clarinet by my mother (who has taught private music lessons for over 20 years) from childhood throughout high school. I have studied under three master clarinetists while in high school and college, and have performed with the prestigious Tacoma Youth Symphony. I have recently completed my degree in Business Management from Azusa Pacific University, and anticipate finishing my Music Performance degree next spring (having already completed all but a few requirements).
