Emma M.

Cypress, CA

I offer preparation to the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) examinations.

About Emma

I am a piano teacher, classically trained. I started my music education at the age of 7, at the Odessa College of Music in Ukraine. At age 16 I was accepted to the highly prestigious Odessa University of Music, where later I received my BA degree in Piano Pedagogy and Performance, Summa Cum Laude. I then decided to further my education and take a 2 year Piano Performance course at the Odessa Conservatory. For over 30 years thereafter, I am teaching students of all ages. I look to develop problem solving, multitasking and other intangible life skills for my younger students through the power o
f music. For my adult students, I look to reduce stress and keep their brains working like new. Regardless of age, I work very hard to improve all of my student's memory, brain function, coordination and most importantly teach them how to simply have fun!
I believe that all students can thrive in a learning environment that is stimulating, comforting and appropriate to their abilities.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are designed based on famous methods of teaching to meet the individual needs and desires of each student.
I am always very patient and will take it as slow as each of my students needs to make sure that he or she understands everything of what is being presented.
I am growing up with the students, building a proper relationship with them and helping them develop life skills through music. I hope for all my students that they will indeed develop skills and attributes through the music experience they have with me.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Upright Piano, Baby Grand Kawaii for Recitals

*** Travel Equipment ***
Student must provide piano in their home for piano lessons. Must have parking available

*** Specialties ***
I am using Alfred's Music for Little Mozarts, Alfred Piano, Bastien Piano, Piano Adventures by Nancy and Randall Faber, Thompson Modern course for beginners. I provide my student with a variety of music styles: classical, jazz, musicals/movie. Also, I introduce them to piano duets. These duets are very useful as supplementary material in a piano program, musically rewarding, and very motivational. I offer preparation to the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) examinations.

Pamela P.

Los Alamitos, CA

I can help you understand and learn the language and foundation of music. There are many great resources to assist in the learning process. Contact me for more information.

About Pamela

My greatest passions are music and teaching . . . so teaching music is heaven for me! It’s my greatest joy to create a fun and creative environment so my students not only learn, but flourish!

Music and performing is fun and rewarding. Learning how to be excellent at it should be fun and rewarding too! I've been teaching voice, music and performance to people of all ages for over 14 years. As a singer I specialize in Pop, Country, R&B, Gospel, Contemporary Christian, Rock, Classical and Musical Theater. As a teacher, I teach and perform all styles comfortably . . . except Rap .
. . I'm not very good at rap . . . I can write rap, but don’t ask me to perform it for you. . . unless you're looking for comedy entertainment.

I was born with a natural ear for music and a love for singing and was placed in private piano and vocal lessons at age 7. From age 10 to present I have been a member of various singing groups: Concert Choir, Vocal Jazz, Chamber Singers, Church Choirs, Show Choirs, Pop, Country, R&B, Rock and Gospel Groups, special ensembles and hired caroling groups.

Another interesting aspect of being a singer is the private and public performance opportunities. Since 1985, I've had the privilege to be hired as a Professional/Paid Vocalist, singing at Weddings, Funerals, Conferences, and Special Events. I've also been privileged to be able contribute my vocals to multiple independent recording projects.

All of these experiences have blended together to help me teach from varying perspectives and approaches so that the technique and result is customized to each student’s needs.

*** Lesson Details ***

I specialize in training all genres for solo and group vocals. I teach ear training for the new beginner, refined technique for the more advanced; incorporating performance and confidence techniques.

I’m a practical, laid-back, and warm person who appreciates the differences in our learning styles and interests. However, I understand the importance of hard-work and structure so there will be a healthy balance of both!

The most important part of our lessons will be our first day. I begin by learning about YOU! At our first meeting, I want to learn what interests you, what you’re doing now, what you hope to be doing someday and then use that existing interest, coupled with published teaching materials (when appropriate and available), to help you learn what you need to learn to get where you want to be.

With consistency in attendance and practice, you will be amazed at your progress in 3 months time and beyond.

I look forward to teaching you!

*** Studio Equipment ***
family room, room for parents to wait

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have everything I need to do "Mobile" lessons. I own a portable 88-key piano and all relevant equipment if needed.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in training all genres for solo and group vocals. I teach basic theory and ear training for the new beginner, refined technique for the more advanced incorporating performance and confidence techniques.
As a singer I specialize in Pop, Country, R&B, Gospel, Contemporary Christian, Rock, Classical and Musical Theater - I teach all styles.

Regina G.

Glendale, CA

No student and no musician can truly understand music without understanding music theory. Playing the piano without knowing the notes is like trying to read a book without knowing the letters. I teach music theory simultaneously in all of my music related classes. This class is a great choice for students who already have basic knowledge of music theory and want to improve their skills and become advanced in the subject and/or are struggling with the basics and want to improve.

About Regina

I hold a Doctorate Degree in Music and Advanced Performance from Yerevan State Conservatory. With more than 15 years of professional teaching experience, I am able to offer my students a diverse range of educational resources. I teach piano, performance, and music theory. Currently, I am a theory and piano teacher at a Russian Music Academy in Orange County.

We just switched teacher and absolutely thought Regina is wonderful with my 6 years old daughter. Regina is patience, took time out to assign home work but most importantly, Regina recognized where my daughter's trouble was to slow down and help her to improve in that area.

My daughter said she enjoyed your teaching. What a great way to start.

Thank you!

Eulis K.

Anaheim, CA

Music Theory is the backbone of music, the building blocks that help us to understand how musical notes and rhythms work together. Lessons in Music Theory can help you to better understand every musical instrument, and will provide an internal sense of order and structure for the sounds that we hear. Learn to make sense of every line, dot, dash, and squiggle on a piece of sheet music, as well as the elements of harmony, melody, rhythm, dynamics, articulation, and phrasing.

About Eulis

--------------- I also teach Online via Skype or FaceTime! --------------------
Hello! Thanks for visiting my Takelessons profile. Let me start off by telling you a bit about myself:
I have been performing for over 20 years as a musician, acting since I was a small boy, and working consistently with public speaking, accent reduction and other presentational skills throughout my career. I started my musical education as a woodwind player and settled in to the wonderful world of singing over time. Music has opened me up to so many incredible opportunities from touring the world to performin
g in marvelous concert halls and working with some of today's most respected artists, as well as giving me the opportunity to expand my performance skills through acting in various plays, musicals, television, and film.

Performing has absolutely been my salvation! Throughout my life it has been a best friend and constant source of joy, and I share this gift with others so that it might help them to find the same joy. After more than 10 years of teaching, I have so many new experiences to draw from and share with my students. I've spent the last 8 years performing with Disney in Anaheim and abroad in their Tokyo Disney cast, and I must say that those experiences, vast and varied as they are, have given the word "performance" a new depth. I'm always excited to dive into every lesson with fresh ideas that will mesh well with many tried and tested teaching techniques.

Originally from Los Angeles, I now reside in Orange County and I'm especially proud to have expanded my studio to serving clients all over the world with online lessons via Skype and FaceTime! I get such joy from sharing my experiences with a diverse group of people from all walks of life.
If you're interested in learning more about my lesson style, feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to talk with you about a plan to help you reach your goals!

For Students of Voice: Teaching Style

Over the past several years I have focused much of my personal growth on developing my ears' ability to pick out and pinpoint vocal “placement”, resonance, subtleties of timbre, changes in pitch, breath support, air speed and flow, pronunciation and diction, and in general, the way in which all of these work together to create style. From these assessments, I work with the student’s particular needs to address each area individually and based on the learning style of each person.
To illustrate to the student their method as I see and hear it, as well as ways in which they might make changes to facilitate the ease of singing --be they changes of tessitura (range), length of phrase, tone color, the release of unnecessary tension etc.-- I make use of vocalise (vocal exercises), simile and metaphor, examples from recorded performances, demonstration, self assessment, and techniques to “trick” the voice into acting in a different way, in addition to videos, diagrams, and texts on anatomy and physiology. I feel that all of these tools provide a unique and personalized learning experience for each student.
