My son is 16 and has been taking lessons with sandra since November of 2014. Sandra not only focuses on singing techniques to build your support and vocal strength, but also helps with understanding sheet music and acting within a musical piece. She is extremely personable and friendly. She has helped my son expand his vocal range, and she taught him vocal techniques to use to develop his voice. My son does musical theatre, and Sandra has taken a significant amount time during each lesson to help him sing the songs comfortably and understand the acting stand point in each song. She is a great teacher for him.

My daughter is 14 years old and we needed some help with an acting role for her school musical. Sandra was wonderful, in a brief time she was able to help her understand that it is important to own the role. I feel as though my daughter came a long way. My daughter did get the role that she auditioned for in her High School play and she is only a freshman. Thanks very much Sandra!

Each actor will learn to connect emotionally and physically to their world. This will include relaxation exercises which are crucial to understanding the physical challenges of acting. We will explore emotional connections that generate from our thoughts as well as the energy of our physicality. Analyzation of script, development of character, understanding genre and the transition from theatre to film will all be primary elements.

About Sandra

I am a professional actress with a BFA from The University of the Arts in Phila. I have been teaching and coaching at The Actors Center of Phila since 2004. I have coached children on film sets, notably, Morgan Turner on the set Of HBO's Mildred Pierce as well as Catherine Chan on the set of " Safe". I am presently coaching children and adults for film and TV auditioning with management companies in NYC, West Reading, PA and Philadelphia. I also teach general American speech as well as many American and foreign accents. In 2009 I began The Outside the Box theatre company with my advanced teen
class, producing plays that tackle many teen issues such as suicide, drug use and bullying. My approach is to teach the actor not a method. I have studied Meisner, Stanislovsky, Adler etc. I teach what will best serve the actor. I approach acting from a very physical as well as personal place. I'm not always easy but I am fun and effective, if not a bit crazy.

Isabel S.

Sellersville, PA

As a teacher of acting I will teach the ability to become aware of the present moment through different exercises from Uta Hagen. To connect their mind and body in order to embody characters and emotions. I will also have weekly readings to educate what different practices are happening now and on the history of theater. One should also expect to learn to ground themselves as a person and become totally aware and lose the self conscious behavior. As an actor we have to free our minds to create wether it be by breathing , listening to the body and studying the art. We will always have fun and you will find something new about yourself every time you leave.

About Isabel

Hi, there! My name is Isabel and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2011 and have loved helping my students raise awareness of themselves and the world around them, connect to the stage to release anxiety and nerves, and create and have fun! I went to Temple University and earned an associates degree in Theater Arts in 2015. I'm a creative and passionate person and my teaching style is out of the box, organized, and will give you access to parts of yourself in order to be the best performer you can be. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

Isabel's classes have been nothing less than amazing. I found her when I was looking for local acting teacher for our grandson who has Tourette syndrome. We were looking for someone that could handle working with a child with a disability and Isabel was the perfect choice. He had fear of getting on stage and no confidence . After a few classes with Isabel his fear was no more. He auditioned for a school play and got the second lead, which has boosted his self confidence and loves to act and sing.
