About Samantha

Samantha started taking piano lessons at age 3 from her mother, who was also a music teacher. She played piano continuously through school, and also learned to play clarinet, guitar, flute, trumpet and sax, often playing different instruments in her school's band. She also learned the violin and cello all before graduating high school and starting college. While still in HIgh School, she started teaching young beginners in her mothers studio.

She attended Pensacola Christian College in Florida, majoring in Piano Performance, under the watchful eye of Mr. Daniel Nagy from Brazil. She t
ransferred to Clearwater Christian College, Tampa, FL, her Junior year to study with Dr. Craig Ralston, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Music.

After graduation she took a position at Seffner Christian Academy, near Tampa. There she taught Beginning and Intermediate Band and assisted the Advanced Band class.

From there, she returned home to Delaware to teach at Milford Music Center's music school, owned by her mother. This was also the same school where she learned to play most of her instruments and where she taught throughout High School.

Now in Allentown, Pennsylvania, she is passing on her love of music to her students.

Wonderful!

Samantha D. is wonderful. My kids play so well for only 1 year'sworth of lessons. I would highly recommend her to anyone! I am blownaway by the music that comes out of the Piano from a 7 and 11 year old.My 11 year old signed up for her first music competition at school. Ifyou told me one year ago I would have girls playing a piano, I would notbelieve you. I truly thought they would quit after a couple of months. Not the case. They are musically talented and still love it. Thanks toSamantha D! They are now thriving in the in-school music program.Thank you, TakeLessons, for filtering out the best teachers. When achild has a small window of interest, you have to grab it the rightway...the wrong teacher would not have given me these results.

Highly Recommend her!

My daughters (10, & 6) have only had three lessons with Samantha! They love it. Her nature is kind and welcoming. She can tell how much they can handle so doesn't overwhelm them with too much theory or pieces to play. She strikes a nice balance. My 10 year old started composing her own song when she became bord with the beginner book! Samantha has added to this excitement and changed her teaching style to match my daughters learning style. My daughter was beaming! Samantha has taught her how to take the next pieces of theory and add it to her song. She also ordered music my daughter enjoys like Selena Gomez. My 6 year old is excited every week and doesn't want to be late. My husband and I thought this would be just another thing to start and quit. So far they are going strong!

Vince T.

Philadelphia, PA

The trumpet is one of the most demanding yet rewarding instruments. As a dominant voice in classical and jazz; the trumpet can be a section or solo instrument.

As his primary instrument, Vince began playing trumpet in 1998. He took lessons provided by his elementary school. Vince advanced rapidly, quickly winning principle chair in school ensembles and later with select county and state wide bands. He participated in many solo competitions performing classical and jazz trumpet throughout middle and high school.

In 2003, Vince began studying classical trumpet privately with Mark Klose then later with John Maguda. Vince studied many of the classic methods including Arban's Complete Conservatory Method, Schlossberg's Daily Drills and Technical Studies, Clarke's Technical Studies, and Stamp's Warm-Ups & Studies. Vince also studied solo repertoire by Hindemith, Haydn, and Kennan among others.

While cultivating the classical foundation, Vince focused on jazz trumpet. He listened,

About Vince

Vince is a trumpeter, multi-instrumentalist, and composer/arranger in the Philadelphia and New York regions. His primary instrument for the past 16+ years is trumpet; he also performs on assorted brass, electric bass, and vocals. Vince holds a Master of Music degree in Jazz Performance from the University of the Arts; and holds a Bachelor of Science in Music degree concentrating in Jazz Studies and Theory & Composition from the State University of New York at New Paltz.

Vince first began teaching music in 2006 as the trumpet instructor at Silver Creek Central School; he directed trumpet mas
ter classes for high school students. Vince later took on various private students teaching trumpet, guitar, electric bass, improvisation, and arrangement & composition. While earning his Master of Music at the University of the Arts, he served as the trumpet department intern and was responsible for teaching private trumpet lessons, preparing transcriptions for class materials and live performances, and proctoring music theory exams. Also at UArts, Vince was a teaching assistant for the Freshman Jazz Improvisation class for which he conducted sectionals, administered exams, and offered critiques regarding inventiveness of improvisations. He currently teaches a number of electric bass students at Philadelphia's Rock to the Future.

Each student approaches music differently, and Vince tailors his teaching to fit that approach. He asks a student what they're aiming to accomplish, then set short and long term goals in order to acheive them. Vince believes a strong technical foundation leads to freer ease of artistic expression. His students receive a wholistic approach to music on whatever instrument of their choice.

He is a member of Soul cover band: The York Street Hustle, with which he plays trumpet and arranges horns. He also regularly performs with Indie Rock bands Heyward Howkins and Roomtone. Vince has appeared on many albums during the past few years including his own debut solo album Syzygy, which is available now. Vince pursues freelance work in the music industry; he continually performs, arranges, composes, and records original music.

Vince is also an Audio Engineer and Producer in the Philadelphia region. He primarily engineers and produces radio & TV commercials, while also engineering and producing original artists' music during the recent two years. Vince has seven years experience operating analog and digital sound boards for live events, radio, and in recording studios. He has also managed multiple semi-professional Jazz ensembles; in charge of scheduling rehearsals, booking performances, negotiating with venues, and marketing via web, print and social media.

Gabrielle K.

Philadelphia, PA

I've been teaching trumpet for 5 years and I love it. I strive to make students as comfortable and prepared as they can possibly be on trumpet. I put a strong emphasis on the core fundamentals of trumpet playing so that you can learn it right the first time (and not have to change how you play like many of us have to do later on.) I like to incorporate sight reading to slowly make it easier, etudes, solos, and duets. This varies from student to student as no one learns the same way!

About Gabrielle

Hi! My name is Gabrielle and I've been playing trumpet for a little over 14 years. I've been studying music and theory for about 6 years, and piano just 4. I've had several years of jazz training, but I mostly play and teach classical music although I am able to teach any jazz lovers out there! I adore teaching and working with students. I've taught for Temple University Prep School, I've gone to several summer music festivals and I attended the Juilliard Pre-College and competed internationally and nationally in several divisions. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me!
