Beginner-rudimental, intermediate and advanced concert/orchestral and marching percussion, Beginner-professional drumset. I have been playing drums since 1990. Other than snare drum in marching band, I taught myself to play drum set through various media in the 1990's such as magazines, videos and much interaction with drum & bugle corps. I specialize in DCI style marching snare and have instructed drumlines from various Oho schools. In the late 1990's I studied jazz; big band and combo style. From 2000-2006 I was a drummer in three local rock bands, one of which performed and recorded extensively.
For drums, students will learn rhythm, rudiments, beats, and fills. I use a couple of Rick Latham's drum workbooks, and a couple of Ted Reed's workbooks among others. For beginner's I have eighteen lessons I've designed to get started.
Using a great Curriculum that teaches students of all ages and skill levels. Starting with Realistic Rock, then Advanced Funk Studies, ending with Advances Jazz Techniques.
I've been teaching Drums since 2004 and recently started back January 2013. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play all rudiments and as time goes on you'll be able to play in bands and in JH and HS bands. I typically use the Haskell Harr, and now include Alfred's Drum Method book for Snare; Tommy Igo for drum-set. His posters from Vic Firth are great resources. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels; I can't wait to meet you!
I have been giving drum lessons since 2013 and have had success in taking students who little to no musical experience into being able to strive in a music setting whether it be a concert hall or a rock gig. My students in the school system have been members of Northern Kentucky Select Band, Morehead Honor Clinic, Tri-State Band Symposium, Land Of Grant Honor Band, KMEA All-State Band, and many other prestigious ensembles.
