I will help you choose repertoire and develop it for optimum vocal health, and beautiful, pure tonality.
I am a professional vocalist with a broad range of experience. With a Bachelor of Music (Musical Theater) from Belmont University I am more than qualified to teach with a well supported vocal foundation. As a true lover of music and arts, I encourage my students to sing as much as possible! My confident and exciting approach to singing brings out the best in my students, which translates beautifully to real life situations. *** Lesson Details *** Each person is different in nature and each performer has a personal style and goal. My goal is to get to know what kind of voice and style each student desires, and base the curriculum off of that knowledge. A basic lesson looks like this: 5 minutes of breathing exercises 10-25 minutes of vocal technique exercises (e.g. scales) ...
I specialize in classical singing and know a great deal of opera repertoire.
I am a performer and teacher residing in Brooklyn, NY. Although I am classically trained, my unique methods apply to all kinds of singing styles--even to speaking! I believe that music lessons should be fun and flexible. I work with my students to find exercises and songs that are most suited for their learning styles and tastes. *** Lesson Details *** My approach begins and ends with the breath. Breath creates pitch, rhythm, musicality, and emotion. If you think about it, each way we show our emotions begins with breath--laughing, crying, sighing, etc. I use a very natural approach to singing, exaggerating the noises we and the animal kingdom already make every day to sing in a very healthy, sustainable way. Have you ever wondered why a dog can bark for hours without tiring? Why a ...
Find your true voice. Lessons are catered to your individual needs and will help you to build a strong foundation in vocal technique and creative expression. We will practice breathing fundamentals, posture, tone production, diction, and delivery, which will enable you to increase your range, stamina, and overall vocal facility. I like to keep things simple: Singing better simply means to be able to do more of the things you want to do with your voice and to do them reliably. True, it usually includes things like singing with more range, better tone, stamina, passion, volume and power as well as singing in tune and without pain. But most importantly, that you can use your singing voice freely and express yourself musically in the ways you intend. Since your body is your instrument,
I love teaching! As a lyric mezzo soprano and I have over fifteen years of experience teaching students of all ages. I especially enjoy working with students who are excited to learn about music and singing. The thing I enjoy most about teaching is helping my students take risks and watching them grow as performers. I'm a hands on teacher and I encourage an open dialogue in lessons. Recent performances include performances at Carnegie Hall, with the San Francisco Orchestra and Vienna Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera, Santa Fe Opera, and Central City Opera
I completed my Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a certificate in Music in Education from the New England Conservatory of music and completed a Master of Music in Opera Performance from the University of Maryland Opera Studio. I've been teaching in NYC for four years and am also a professional, working soprano in New York. I work with students of all voice types and levels.
The classical technique I teach incorporates consistent breath management and consistent, pure vowels. The combination and synchronization of these allow the singer to access all the resonance necessary for classical singing in a healthy, stress-free way. I also work with students on diction in the operatic languages (French, Italian, German and English) as well as help them understand stylistic differences across the history of classical music.
I teach classical/operatic singing to singers as young as 15, and you're never too old to start singing classically! Try something new with your voice, prepare your audition for that musical or for your college auditions. We will work together to create a free sound that is individual to you in a fun environment.
Can't wait to meet you!
