Have experience teaching and preparing students for auditions, plays and theatre acting
I have been taking the world by surprise since the age of 4. I began studying at Queens College at 6 years old and was a recital pianist by the age of 12. I was a consumer of music, from the Music Theory lessons on Saturdays, piano lessons on Thursdays and voice lessons on Saturday afternoons, my life was filled with music.
It is to no one's surprise that I completed my first demo at the age of 13 and was performing for Queens Colleges audiences at 14. I went on the rank high in the NYSSMA series in both piano and voice. I also went on to study music in college and began touring with gospe
l troupes nationally. Since then I has done many workshops, Master Classes, tour dates, theatre shows etc. Too many to date. I am a sought after teacher for voice, piano and broadway singing. I train public speakers, actors and teachers as well.

Danielle is the greatest! Any student would be lucky to have her. She has years of expertise and she uses every bit of it to make us better. I'm extremely happy that I signed on with her. I have improved tremendously.
As an actor, Joshua graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and Judith Blazer’s 2005/2007 company of the Artist’s Crossing. Performance credits include roles in The Trojan Women, Godspell, Burn This, Comedy of Errors, Children of Eden, Othello, Show Boat, Sunday in the Park with George, The Chosen, Sweeney Todd..., The Laramie Project, and Les Miserables to name a few. As a director, Joshua directed three sold out productions of Hedwig and the Angry Inch in NC and DC, received rave reviews for his work with Neil
LaBute’s Some Girl(s), and just completed production for a series on the making of Oklahoma!. Other sporadic credits include Duets for the DC Fringe Festival, a number of independent films and countless readings, workshops and concerts. Joshua has worked as a Musical Director for many shows within the NY/NJ/DC tri-state area and coaches a handful of select students. The musical play, Definition of a Housewife, conceived and written by himself and Jeffery Self had a workshop production in the summer of 2006 at Columbia University. Most recently he appeared in Arena Stage’s production of Fiddler on the Roof, directed the DC premiere of Madhuri Shekar’s In Love and Warcraft and will next be appearing in Signature Theatre’s production of Soon by Nick Blaemire. He is also attached to a new musical (A House of Glass) about Tennessee Williams in which Joshua will be playing the prolific writer. Joshua is the Artistic Director of No Rules Theatre Company based out of Washington, DC and Winston-Salem, NC and sits on the board of the Artists Crossing in NY, NY.
*** Lesson Details *** I believe that all singing comes from the same place, technically (Opera, Musical Theatre, Pop, etc.). I work more on building a strong foundation from which everything else comes. That includes breath, placement and the stripping away of bad vocal habits that inhibit us from making healthy productive sounds. A strong foundation does usually mean having a stronger sense of your "legit" voice because it takes more work to involve your palate and breath which makes Musical Theatre/Pop seem like a piece of cake. I like to work with dedicated students who are open to challenging themselves and exploring other schools of thought in order to take themselves to the next level.
With my actors, I start from building a foundation of a sense of truth which is inherent in all of us. We talk through/explore a number of "approaches", in order to find the individuals process. From there, we begin work on how to approach text (actions, objectives, targets, meanings, etc.)
**Prospective students should be aware that lessons for speaking voice are geared more toward theatre training, rather than speech therapy. **
*** Studio Equipment *** A space for lessons with a large library of music/plays. An upright piano.
*** Specialties *** I only work on a flex schedule with my students, so when booking lessons- rather than selecting a specific day and time for lessons, we schedule each lesson from week to week as we go. I have lots of open hours for teaching, though they are not reflected on my calendar, as my schedule tends to fluctuate.
I have a strong background in musical theatre but believe that it all comes from the same place. Good technique is good technique which stems from more of a "classical" background. Bel canto, if you will. It's like dancing. Dancers who study ballet are much better dancers than those who don't because they have a strong foundation from which to work.

Joshua Morgan is an extroadinary teacher! He knows what he's talking about; very knowledgeable about the business. He gave me tips and pointers of things that I needed to know. He will also tell you the absolute truth because he wants you to succeed, which I love. He expands your mind and helps you be prepared before heading into the industry because its no piece of cake, but he encourages you every step of the way. He also made me feel comfortable and he's very patient. I'm very glad to have met him. Its not the end, but only the beginning with him.

Joshua is great at his craft. I spent a lot of time since I moved to the East Coast looking for an voice coach who understand what my voice needed. Joshua stepped right in and put into words what I have been trying to tell other for a long time. He's truthful and I know I can trust what he say. That was important to me. I want to say you Joshua. I now have something to look forward to.

Joshua is great to work with, knowledgable, professional, patient, fun, and has a great teaching style.
I have played violin for 36 years now, and I have taught all of the orchestral stringed instruments. I also have played piano for 33 years, and I have been a professional singer for many years.
I played violin with the Venice Symphony Orchestra in Venice, FL for 33 years.
I am a composer and an arranger of many compositions.
I have directed award winning choirs in the state of Florida.
I sang in a brand new musical off Broadway, and currently am assisting with the choral writing for this musical.
*** Lesson Details *** I am an easy going person, but I do believe that students hav
e to put forth effort to succeed. I choose my curriculum depending on the level of the student and the instrument. For beginning string students, I typically use Essential Elements 2000, and for beginning piano students I use the Alfred's Adult Basic Piano Course.
After 3 months of lessons, a student that has begun with me will have the basics of the instrument down and be able to read basic notation.
After 6 months, the student should have completed book one and be ready to start some more in depth studies that will concentrate on mastering the instrument.
*** Travel Equipment *** I have my own Violin. Students would need an instrument of their own. I will come to where the student lives to teach their lessons.
*** Specialties *** I am a classically trained Violinist I am good at teaching pianists to improvise by reading a lead sheet.

Charlie has been a great introduction for my son Jordan into the world of Piano. He has been patient and made the lessons fun and rewarding for Jordan. Jordan is 7yrs old and practicing isn't his favorite thing to do, but somehow Charlie made practicing sound rewarding and worthwhile. Jordan loves piano even more now than when the lessons began. I really appreciate the time and energy Charlie has taken with keeping my son focused. I would highly recommend him as a piano instructor.
So you want the life on the stage? We'll work on playing the entire audience, projection and remaining truthful throughout your performance.
My life revolves around music in all of its forms. I have studied piano since the age of 6 while singing ever since I knew how to make sound. Throughout my lifetime, I have been taught by some of the most influential teachers, and it is my goal to become one in your lifetime.
I began participating in theater at an early age. Once In high school, I had my first job as a Drama Teacher at Saltworks Young Actors Studio where I taught Improvisation, Monologues and Musical Theater to students ages 6 through 16.
I went to Point Park University where I received a BA in Musical Theater in
2006. Throughout College, I was also teaching voice and piano lessons.
As an actor, I have enjoyed many successes. In 2007, I joined the NY Public Theater’s three night, 40th anniversary concert of HAIR at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. The following summer, I was a member of the cast in a full mounted production in their 2008 Shakespeare in the Park season. Shortly after the production transferred to Broadway, the cast performed at the 2009 Tony Awards and took home the Tony for Best Revival.
During the run of Hair, I was entered into the Broadway Beauty Pageant, where male cast members from different Broadway shows compete to win the title of "Mr. Broadway". After competing in Talent and Interview; I was crowned Mr. Broadway 2009.
In 2010, I journeyed across the Atlantic with the production to perform HAIR in London’s West End. It was such a joy to have the influence of UK culture and experience the best of their Music and Theater in my time living in London.
Since moving back to America, I began teaching full time and have been a first hand witness to all of my students growing and flourishing throughout their process. It makes me so proud of them!!
I believe music has the power to be the most fun thing in the world, while at the same time, the most challenging thing. No matter what age, it's never to early or late to open your heart and mind to its fullest potential.
*** Studio Equipment *** I have an Upright Piano in my living room with plenty of seating for parents/guardians. I also have a spare room and patio in case one would like some privacy to work or read.
*** Travel Equipment *** I expect my student to have a Piano or a full electronic keyboard for proper Piano or Voice lessons, and a Trumpet or French Horn for those lessons respectively.
*** Specialties *** I am a very earnest, physical, character actor with a great sense of comedic timing. I live for anything theatrical and I hope that I can share all the joys it brings me with you.
I have a vast singing range from bass’ low D, high A belt, to a B6 in my falsetto. I have shaped my voice through almost a dozen voice teachers since the time my voice changed from boy to young man and now I feel confident to sing in styles from Traditional and Contemporary Broadway, to Pop and Rock. I hope that I can help you gain the confidence and strength to conquer multiple styles.
I have been playing the Trumpet, French Horn and Piano since grade school. From Honors bands to Marching bands, the excitement from a band is tap-your-foot contagious!

Students are raving about their Theater Acting instructors on TakeLessons.
Check out some of these recent reviews.
Review by Julia
"I met Marcus while preparing for a callback a few months ago and have met with him regularly every since. His passion for acting is so evident by his thor
ough understanding of both theory and practice. His lessons include technique and blocking, but also studying other works by the playwright and understanding works in the same genre. Marcus truly has a well-rounded teaching approach and cares that his students learn. He has been an invaluable resource!"

Nathan was my director for a show in October 2013. His communication skills as a teacher, director, and collaborator made the process very enjoyabl

I gained a lot from working with him and highly recommend Nathan to anyone seeking a super fun, informative, and productive acting student experience!"

She's very patient and invests a great deal of time and effort into each student. I highly recommend using Destinie as a acting coach.
