Linda L.

Tucker, GA

About Linda

*** Travel Equipment ***
I do not typically provide any equipment - but I am willing to select and purchase books for the students to learn from (cost of books to be reimbursed by the student/parent) when requested to do so.

I am also willing to provide stick-on note-names for the keyboard, for young children.

The students must have their own instruments, music stand, paper and pencil, and provide a folder for sheet music and notes/instructions.

*** Specialties ***
On guitar, I specialize in the following styles: jazz, rock, blues, folk, bluegrass, and children's songs.
Piano: I pr
efer electronic keyboard to acoustic piano, but am happy to teach beginning students on a regular piano as well. I teach note-reading, playing by ear, and theory. When using an electronic keyboard, I include more rhythm development, arranging, chord theory, and use of the many features of an electronic keyboard, in the lessons.
English: I am qualified, by years of tutoring, to tutor/teach English (spoken, written, and reading comprehension) to both native English speakers and to those learning it as a second language.
*** I am particularly good at working with children who have a.d.h.d. and other learning disabilities!

Linda is easily the most patient and welcoming person I've ever worked with. She has incredible knowledge over a vast array of topics and she is eager to share with others. This, in my opinion, is the most important quality of all teachers. Her lessons have proved a great way to build a solid base in my field of interest. as well as providing me with a well rounded and wonderful mentor that I'm sure to rely on for many other lessons in the future- banjo or otherwise!

Helena R.

Suwanee, GA

About Helena

I am a native speaker of Portuguese and got my degree in English (ESL) and French Teaching in my home country, Portugal. I have been teaching foreign languages and ESL for more than 20 years and am comfortable working with all age groups. I taught 17 years in Portugal (ESL and French; 6-12 grades and Adult Education Programs) and ever since I moved to the US in 2010 (Portuguese and Spanish in a corporation, and tutoring all four languages at home or online). I am a very patient, motivated and enthusiastic teacher and I always adjust my teaching methods to the student's age, needs and purpose.
I never give up on a student and I am sure I can help him/her attain his/her full potential. I believe anyone can learn a new language but consistent repetition and refreshing before, during and after class is needed. I expect the student to be responsible, patient and persistent in his learning process and I am willing to help him/her on the way.

Val worked for me for two years, tutoring my youngest son, who was in kindergarten at the time I hired her. Initially I asked Val to concentrate in writing, math and reading comprehension. She took his reading level from beginning kindergarten level (which was behind most in his class) and by the time she left after two years, my son was a second grader reading at a high third grade level. He also improved his writing and math skills significantly.

A few months into hiring her, Val recommended a Phonics program, which had a huge impact on my sons reading speed and pronunciation of new words.

Cel was reliable, motivated and had a great personality which helped my so to bond with her. I would hire her again in a heart beat!!!!

Nicole K.

Alpharetta, GA

About Nicole

Welcome to my profile.
I'm a young and dedicated German and Czech teacher from Vienna, Austria.
I grew up speaking both languages everyday since my mother is from Czech Republic and my father is Austrian.
I started giving lessons in 10th grade back in Austria and I really enjoyed it.
I like to teach kids, teenagers but also adults. I try to put my main focus on the fun part of learning a language, so I will always come up with a funny game how to improve and rectify your skills.
If you are interested I'm looking forward to hear from you soon!
Have an awesome day,
Nicole :)

Both,
German and Czech (as well as Slovak), are my native languages.
I finished my high school degree with (ALL) A-Grades and also learned Russian and Hungarian, so I can understand those languages too.

If you are a funny and ambitious person you should certainly contact me and I promise you we will have a lot of fun together.
