Lisa P. Brandon, FL

I have taught piano for many years and studied piano since I was a child. I have a bachelors in music and have worked in a top classical studio in my background.

About Lisa

My Background in Music: My inspiration first started when I was seven years old and in second grade. I was pondering if I wanted to dedicate myself to the music field. A substitute piano teacher came in that day and played and my admiration decided me to pursue this ambition for my life work. I studied and played guitar and auto-harp as a child because of our lack of piano. The guitar was a gift and I played it for years and studied vocal music throughout school. When I was a young teenager I started playing with a group that I met in a barn and I was thrilled. Many other musicians have been part of my story and as a young person I studied privately with such greats as Michelle Barone Horsefield as well as with with studio musicians such as the Scott Steeleman Studio and ...

Lisa is an exceptional person, let alone teacher. I have had the privilege of having her as my Aunt, and writing and playing piano with her has always been a fond memory for me. She made it fun, and even when I struggled, she was able to lift my spirits with her positivity and her passion for music. As a teacher, she's able to explain things in different ways and cater to the individuality of the student, which I think is key to building a solid foundation when learning a new skill, and developing said skill over time. She has incredible drive, and I think any student who gets to work with her will excel, while having a good role model to aspire to!

Lisa is by far the most experienced and practical piano teacher I have studied under in recent times. Her teaching methods and relate-able knowledge of brain-muscle memory were keys in helping me progress.
Being a studio engineer who is learning to produce, the fundamentals which Lisa has taught me are critical. Thanks Lisa!

Amy N. Wesley Chapel, FL

Preferred method for beginners: Alfred Basic Piano Library

About Amy

I had my first piano lesson when I was five years old. I performed my first piano solos for audiences at school events. I joined the keyboard team at church when I was thirteen years old. I quickly learned to improvise and accompany. It was exciting to discover that I could study piano in college. I earned my way by accompanying voice and instrument choirs, rehearsals, lessons, and recitals. I enjoy helping other people excel, so I chose a teaching degree over a performance degree. In 1991, I graduated with my bachelor of music degree in piano pedagogy. I immediately began teaching private and group piano lessons, building my studio over fifteen years to reach nearly 600 students ages five to seventy-five. I accompanied community choirs, local vocal artists, and students ...

Amy has developed a positive bond with my daughter and is skilled at teaching piano.
I was skeptical that my daughter (she was 10 when she began) would advance much with only 30 minute lessons once a week. I was wrong! Amy initially focused on the fundamentals, while slowly introducing my daughter's popular pop song requests. This balance (including lots of practice) has kept my daughter's interest as well as progressed her skills way beyond my expectations.
Amy has been very accommodating, flexible, and easy and pleasurable to communicate with when unforeseen schedule challenges have arisen.
The learning atmosphere in Amy's home is conducive, comfortable, and welcoming. My daughter enjoys seeing Ms. Amy weekly to show off what she's practiced and anxious to learn more. My visits during the lessons are relaxing ...sitting on the living room couch adjacent to the piano.
I'd recommend Amy N. for anyone interested in a patient and talented music teacher.

Ms. Amy is Wonderful!!! Great teacher!

I have two kids learning piano with Ms. Amy, 3rd & 4th grade. They have completely different personalities.

Ms. Amy's patience and enthusiasm continues to make learning fun for both my boys while teaching/motivating towards their individual ages/styles.

Very fortunate to have found Ms. Amy.
Mary H. Tampa, FL

Lessons and curriculem are tailored to the students abilities and interests. Traditional note reading and/or chord chart playing, classical or popular music with improvisation skills can be pursued.
However, beginners should understand that there are skills everyone needs to begin with to progress. I incorporate duet playing to enhance beginner songs and to teach ensemble playing at all levels.
Most of my students pursue piano for their own enjoyment or for ensemble, church and social gatherings. However, because of 2 years of piano study at the University level, I am very comfortable with those who wish to prepare for competition and advanced study.

About Mary

About You for Take Lessons Teaching music students for over 30 years has enriched my life. My relationship with my students is a two-way street. I create a course of study to fit their individual interests and needs and often learn from them as we explore their interest in God's wonderful gift of music! After teaching elementary music in public schools for 10 years and training university interns, it was a thrill to become a vocal graduate assistant at the University of South Florida where I earned both a B.A.in Music Education and an M.A. in Vocal Performance with Voice, Choral, Music Education and Piano Pedagogy emphasis. My classical training is also enhanced by participation in Broadway, contemporary, folk, pop music and sacred music styles. Teaching at various private ...

As an older adult, I started beginning piano with Mary H. and was able to progress quickly and learn how to read music and play the music I was interested in and learned much more than I ever expected about music theory. She is very knowledgeable and is an excellent teacher and also a very pleasant person and gets you in and out on time.

Mary is the kind of person that brings happiness to her surroundings.
I have studied voice with many teachers, but Mary's coaching is the first time that I really understand what I need to improve in my singing practices. Mary’s advice is very accurate and she pinpoints these flaws. Only half a year has passed since I started practicing singing with her; however, I can profess that she is the best teacher I have had so far. I thought my voice was becoming rusty as I aged, but it is a happy surprise that it is improving! I also feel healthier since I started to learn from Mary.
Her voice training is good for anyone who wishes to improve her/his singing technique regardless of the genre of music/songs. I recommend her singing lessons for opera voice training, popular singing from the heart, or hobby singing and body conditioning. Mary's coverage is really wide.

Daniel C. Jacksonville, FL

I've started taking piano lessons at age 6 while living in the gorgeous country of Luxembourg in Western Europe and I have been in love with the instrument ever since. Through various phases and methods of learning, I developed a quite eclectic style which allows me to adapt according to the setting and the venue. Through a solid understanding of music theory and a foundation in different genres, I accommodate the student's musical desires by introducing new concepts and approaches that will make him/her a better musician.

About Daniel

I'm a recent graduate from Southeastern University with a degree in Music Performance. I've been raised in a family of musicians while living in Europe. I've been exposed and instructed in various genres through different musical approaches and methods ranging from Classical to Jazz both on the piano as well as on percussion/drums. The songwriting projects that I've worked on (in and out of studios) are also part of my artistic experience and I enjoy sharing some insight in that area as well as any aspects related to music performance. I am currently expanding my musical journey across neighboring cities in the US such as Lakeland, Orlando and Jacksonville, FL. I'm open to teach students of all ages with a willingness to learn and I'm willing to customize my teaching method to the student.

How Often Should You Tune a Piano?
Just as you go to the doctor for check-ups from time to time, your piano needs maintenance and care throughout its life. You may notice, especially if you have a keen ear or a tendency to sing along with your practice, that your piano drops in pitch, particularly during the summer and winter months. This is because your piano is mostly made of wood, and your wooden soundboard will contract when the weather is drier -- or the heating is on! -- and cause the pitch of the strings to drop. While kn
