Diedrich W.

Minneapolis, MN

Often times students want to learn more than one style on guitar and I encourage this. If you want to be a serious classical musician, I am not the teacher for you and I can refer you to one who is. But if you want to access certain pieces you love or want to simply explore classical guitar, that is terrific and I have great pieces for this.

About Diedrich

I hold a degree from Hamline University, but that doesn't make me a good teacher. I've played professionally for over 25 years, have taught English as a Second Language, Hockey and Audio Engineering, taught people age 5 to 75, and have taught private music lessons full time in Minneapolis for the past 9 years, but this doesn't make me a good teacher. What makes me a good teacher is that I have an infectious love of music and a passionate commitment to helping people. I do have specialties, like helping singer/songwriters develop their lyrics, arrangements, voice, and performance as well as helping artists get through creativity blocks, stage fright and preparing for studio recording. My experience as a producer, studio musician and audio engineer has allowed me to understand what an ...

Diedrich makes you feel comfortable starting lessons at any age or skill level! He made learning guitar very enjoyable, and encouraged me to use my "inner ear" when playing. Diedrich also encouraged me to practice singing along with playing guitar, something that I had not felt comfortable doing previous to taking lessons. He takes the time to tailor the lessons to your personal style and needs. Diedrich is a great teacher!

I'm a middle aged guy with no musical experience. My wife got me lessons for Christmas. Dietrich got me playing the harmonica and I liked it so much I started on guitar. He is very patient and gives bite sized stuff to work on. He's the best!

I've been playing classical guitar for 7 years & have performed hundreds of classical pieces for different events, ranging from concert halls to dinner parties to receptions for big businesses.

About Alex

Hey, my name is Alex. I'm a multi-instrumentalist (guitar, bass, keyboards, voice, drums, flute, etc.), composer, performer, recording artist, arranger/orchestrator/transcriber, recording engineer/producer & music educator. I graduated from the University of St. Thomas "Cum Laude" in 2011 with a Bachelor's Degree in Guitar Performance, with minors in Music Production & Composition. While attending St. Thomas I served as the Music Theory tutor, as well as the live sound/stage/light/recording technician for student & faculty recitals. I have been playing professionally & teaching for over a decade. My passion for music is something that I love to share with anyone else who feels inclined to make music. My goal is to share the skills & knowledge I've acquired throughout my experiences

Lesson was well organized. Alex was very knowledgeable. He explained things in a way that a 14 year old can easily understand. I'm really looking forward to my next lesson.

Scott K.

Minneapolis, MN

I have been teaching guitar since 2004. I focus on proper technique, while exploring ear training and good balanced sound. I basically want to make sure the student has fun and enjoys the experience of learning and playing, while developing their skills on guitar.

About Scott

Scott K is a multi-instrumentalist/performer/composer. He has been a music director for Brave New Workshop, Idiot Box, and Blue Umbrella Productions. He has most recently performed in Flying Foot Forum’s production of "Alice in Wonderland" and Plymouth Playhouse's production of "Ring Of Fire". Scott currently performs with Orkestar Bez Ime (OBI), an award-winning Twin Cities group that specializes in folk music from the Balkan and Eastern European regions.
