For piano, I have worked with beginning and intermediate students. I have a lot of experience working with young students because of my Kindergarten through fifth grade music job as well as older students because of private teaching. I like to make music as fun as possible through theory, listening activities, and a fun lesson series. I like to use the Alfred Lesson series, Faber Piano Adventures, and A Dozen a Day as well as other books that would meet the student's interests and needs.
For both oboe and piano, students will learn about proper playing technique, theory, analyze music to find patterns and form, and build their confidence with their instrument. They will also learn how to critique themselves in order to find the positive aspects of their playing as well as things they would like to change or improve upon. It is important to celebrate all successes as well as look for areas of improvement. I am also able to record students and then play back for them during ...
Music has been a part of my life since I was very young. Growing up in a musical family, I started piano lessons at age 5 and oboe at 11. I went on to get my Bachelors in Oboe Performance and Music Education from the University of Central Florida. I enjoyed studying music so much that I continued on to get my Masters in Oboe Performance from the University of Cincinnati, College- Conservatory of Music. I then studied oboe performance for one year in the Doctorate program at Rutgers University, Mason Gross School of the Arts. After Rutgers, I moved back to Orlando where I began teaching as an Elementary music teacher and taught private lessons for students in Orlando. I have been an elementary music teacher for four years now and have taught private lessons for the past 11 years. ...
