I have been teaching piano since 2013. I have receiving my piano pedagogy certificate from VCSU in Spring 2015.
For younger students, I use the Albert Young Beginner lesson book and activity book. The lesson book teaches basic piano skills at a good pace for young beginners, and the activity book reiterates what the lesson book teaches, but in different fun ways. For older students, I use the Piano Adventures series of Piano instruction for my piano lessons. I use the Lesson book for teaching basic playing skills, the Theory book for basic theory. In addition to this, I like to eventually include Hannon finger exercises, scales, and arpeggios. I feel this method of teaching will lead to well-rounded, quick improvement!
I work with various different piano and vocal study programs for the perfect fit with each of my students depending upon their level of proficiency, learning goals and how they are able to learn and comprehend the various musical and technical concepts. We learn something new each week and I adapt the music to the student's interest. Specialize in Jazz and Classical
