Kyle N.

Denver, CO

I'm a producer as well as songwriter and love to help people craft songs. If you're working on new songs and looking for someone with professional feedback or if you're just looking to get started writing songs; I'd love to help.

About Kyle

Hello!

My name is Kyle N. I am a professional musician and educator. I graduated Mcnally/Smith College of Music in St. Paul, Minnesota. I am from the Midwest and have been on stage all my life. My Father plays piano, guitar and sings. He taught me music from a very young age so you could say music was my first language. I've performed all over the world and have called New York, Boston, Minneapolis, Chicago, Austin, TX and now Denver all home.

I understand what its like to be starting a new instrument or skill and I love to help people get started. As well as helping people to develop an
d deepen the skills they already posses. People often joke that if they're around me too long they start wanting to learn a new instrument and that they're always getting a music lesson. Talking about music and teaching about it is what my life is all about. I'm constantly learning new things and love teaching because it helps me to keep discovering more.

great teacher

Kyle is a super talented musician. Most importantly he's a great teacher and really does an awesome job relating the material to me. I couldn't be happier with how my lessons have gone so far and my improvement in such a short time is pretty cool. It's also really reassuring to know that your teacher is putting you in the best position to succeed which for me has lead to a lot more fun with my ax!

S. Parker G.

Denver, CO

Learning to write songs is an integral part of my method, for every student. Understanding song structure, learning to count measures in songs, analyzing phrasing (patterns in chords and melody), and basic lyric analysis are all a part of this process. Putting what you learn together in your own voice is the fun part!

About S. Parker

Music became my life when I found a dusty guitar in the storage room at age 10. I owe a lot of really cool experiences to the guitar and so many of them center around learning. Teaching is fun and rewarding, but it is also my way of thanking the great teachers I've had.

-Studied Music Theory/Composition at Metropolitan State College of Denver

-Won a scholarship to the 2001 Summer Guitar Program at Berklee College of Music in Boston

-Frequent substitute at Arapahoe Community College (2004-2005)

-Teacher at St. Mary's Academy Middle School (2008-2013)

-Active me
mber of Onsombley guitar ensemble

-Songwriter, Vocalist, Guitarist in The Penny Dreadfuls

-Creator of http://strumbystrum.com

-Takelessons teacher since 2008

*** Lesson Details ***
The best lessons I've ever had were lessons in which I walked away saying "Man, I never KNEW that!" and it's my goal for you have that experience, too. Whether its how to play that chord or write a melody, how to get the best sound out of those stomp boxes, or when genres like shoegazer and post-rock were invented and what they sound like... there's something to be learned in every lesson.

The most important benefit of taking lessons from me is my experience. I started teaching casually as a teenager and have followed every opportunity since. My passion for music has allowed me to teach private lessons (10+ years), middle school guitar class (including a guitar ensemble), and college-level music theory classes. Extensive experience in writing, recording, and performing has only helped that passion to grow. I've developed a method to blend theory with practice every step of the way, and make the journey fun!

Parker is a great teacher & a really nice guy. I have been working with him for about 18 months, and I have come a very long way in my technical ability as well as my understanding of music theory. He has a very low key, positive approach to our lessons, which makes them relaxing and fun, but at the same time he has the ability to get me out of my "comfort zone" and doing things that are new and challenging, from dabbling in different genres to creating new arrangements of old favorite songs to diving into the theory behind iconic riffs and chord progressions.
He has become a friend and I look forward to all of our online sessions.

Parker is a fantastic teacher. I was EXTREMELY nervous when I went in for my first lesson. However Parker's personality and teaching technique put me right at ease. His experience makes him a very good teacher and the fact he's written a book also helps. If you're looking for a teacher I'd definitely recommend him.

I started taking lessons with Michal Chodosh to learn music theory and reading music. In the time I have worked with Michael, I have learned a lot. When I began lessons, I didn't know scales or modes, knew only basic chords and wasn't able to read sheet music. In addition to that, I was barely able to follow tablature. Michael has taught me about all of those items and more. Lessons with Michael are a lot of fun. There is always great interaction between students so that newer students can learn from both Michael and from other students while becoming comfortable with learning about the guitar. Deciding to take lessons from Michael was a great decision. I've thoroughly enjoyed learning how to play the guitar.

My introduction to Michael came when he sat in with a band I was playing with....I was so blown away by his playing, I ended up taking lessons from him.

Micheal has helped open up new frontiers in playing and theory for me without ever making me feel like a dummy for not knowing things. One of the best things about him is that his teaching style makes students feel comfortable, but also challenged.

Michael has the experience, patience, and knowledge to help everybody from beginners to working professionals learn and improve. Heck, he even taught me to sing my first legitimate vocal harmony.

Time with Michael Chodosh is time well spent!
