My love for the piano started at the age of thirteen. I majored in Music Education at Frostburg State University, and studied piano under various professors. I have seven years experience in teaching children and adults the piano. I hope to convey a love of music during lessons. Playing the piano shouldn't be stressful. It should be rewarding, relaxing, and fun.
I received a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Frostburg State University. The piano was my main instrument of study. I have taught piano lessons to people of various ages. I believe that anyone can learn how to play the piano. Music is an experience that can help boost one's self-esteem. It can bring healing and peace. *** Lesson Details *** People consider me a patient and "laid back" piano teacher. I understand the challenges of learning how to play the piano. Students are free to ask questions. To get the best out of a lesson, practice is a must. Method books are used throughout the lesson, and students are encouraged to practice whatever they learn during the lesson. Students will learn songs and exercises according to their level. My approach is fun, simple, and easy to understand. I focus on getting a strong foundation and excellent first experience with music. The child will be given a lesson and theory book to work from, but will also be encouraged to play music they personally like. This keeps the child motivated to play and adds an element of fun! These songs can then be used in our recitals, for auditions, or put in their personal repertoire book.

I've been teaching piano for over 13 years. I use Alfred's Premier Piano Courses levels 1 - 6 for children. For adults I use Alfred's Lesson Book 1 - 3. My teaching goals for all my students are to enable them to read and make music so that they could experience the joy of journeying in the realm of musical sounds.
My philosophy in teaching piano is very much like learning to drive a car. Once a person learns the mechanism of driving so many possibilities open for the person to enjoy trips to many places that bring pleasures that destiny could offer. In some ways, playing the piano is very much like learning to drive a car. Once the mechanism of making music is mastered, the possibilities of making journeys of musical sound is endless.
