Angelica L.

Noblesville, IN

I have taught piano both privately and in groups for over five years and have had over one hundred piano students. I strongly believe that piano is a fundamental instrument for any musical endeavor, and students can be successful any age. Studies have shown exceptional benefits from playing the piano including having higher test scores, the ability to focus, and emotional benefits of patience, higher order thinking skills and reduced stress. I structure my lessons to emphasize warm-ups/scales, variety of repertoire and soloistic playing while incorporating music theory into every step. Most importantly, I make piano approachable and fun while ensuring that students achieve success and understanding of the piano.

About Angelica

Angelica is a talented musician with over fifteen years of experience. She is an accomplished flutist who has played in many bands and symphonies around the Bay Area in California. Angelica recently graduated cum laude from San Jose State University with a Bachelor's degree and teaching credential in Music Education. In addition to playing both flute, voice, saxophone, and piano, she recently toured with the San Jose State Choraliers (Vocal Ensemble) in Europe. Ms. Angelica's goal is to provide students with a quality education through performance opportunities and musical discipline whil
e incorporating music fundamentals and theory. She strongly believes that students should experience a very positive yet challenging environment in order to inspire greatness.

Angelica taught music at my music school, Darrell Leffler's Academy of Music and was one of our most popular teachers. All of her students loved her and I was confident when I assigned students to her classes.

My 6 year old daughter learned piano from Ms Angelica for more than a year. She was always very excited to attend her classes. She learned the basics very quickly and loved the fun music games at the end of her class(which kept her interest in learning music). Ms Angelica is very soft spoken, accommodative and great with kids. My daughter still misses her as she moved to Indiana now.

Don C.

Indianapolis, IN

About Don

Don grew up in Indianapolis, and began his musical interest in church as a 9 year old. "Most everyone sang the melody during the song service, and I wanted to be different. So I started picking out parts to sing by ear." His first formal music began in the fifth grade when he took up the trumpet. From there he became involved in band and choir in high school and went on to major in music at Tennessee Temple College in Chattanooga. Later he earned a master's degree in music from Butler University, and studied voice and choral conducting at Pensacola Christian College for 2 summers.

He h
as traveled across most of the eastern United States as part of a college ensemble from 3 different colleges. He has performed in and directed numerous church musicals as well as performing in 2 college musicals.

Don has been a church music director, and has taught elementary, Jr. High and High School band and choir for 10 years. His own formal lessons have been in piano, trumpet, voice, and guitar, but Don studied all the band instruments in order to teach young band members to better play their instrument. He has also taught music on the college level for 15 years in courses such as voice, piano, trumpet, music history, music theory, etc.

Don is also a composer and arranger of numerous sacred choral pieces, and has written 4 Christmas cantatas, complete with drama.

Don and his wife have three sons, all of which followed his example and earned degrees in music, and are now active in performing or teaching music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe that classical literature is an important basis for any music lessons. But I also want students to perform music that they enjoy. So I use a balance of both. For beginners, I use the basic methods books, but within a few weeks try to bring in music that the student will enjoy.

I believe one of the most important aspects of teaching music, is to create a love of music in the student. To be successful a student must practice because his/she loves music, not because he/she is forced to prepare for a lesson.

Subjects taught- voice, piano, trumpet, trombone, baritone (euphonium), french horn, tuba, clarinet, saxophone, music theory, music history, song writing.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano, band instruments, recording equipment

*** Specialties ***

Linda C.

Indianapolis, IN

I've been teaching piano for 5 years and my students have gone on to play in recitals, talent shows and pass college music exams. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play well-known songs and as time goes on you'll be able to longer songs. I specialize in popular music, typically use the Faber Piano Adventure series books, and have the following tools available for your lessons: iPad, Yamaha 61-key piano as well as a Casio Celviano piano. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Linda

Linda has been teaching private lessons since 2011 and is currently available to teach lessons at her studio. Linda has helped students become independent, become more social, improve hand-eye coordination and have a larger vocabulary.

Linda received her training at Ball State University in 1976 where she received a degree in Music Education. As an expert in her field, Linda looks forward to helping new students achieve their goals. Linda's teaching style is dedicated to helping students achieve their music goals, enthusiastic, and fun-loving.

"I believe that my experience in accompanyin

My Grand Daughter has been taking piano from Linda for over a year & she absolutely loves it! She has learned so much and always looks forward to going to her lesson. Linda is very professional and at the same time makes learning fun. Her location is convenient to get to from about anywhere on the south side of Indy. She organizes a yearly recital, which makes it nice for the students to experience performing in front of an audience. I would recommend Linda to anyone who would love to learn piano from a great teacher.

Excellent teacher

I happened to find Linda through an internet search, and I am so pleased that we did. She is excellent with my 11 year old daughter. My daughter is always excited to go to her lesson each week. She has only been taking lessons for 5-6 months, but I can see much improvement, and I can see the difficulty of the songs increase. I think my favorite part is that Linda is so patient and encouraging. Each week, after the lesson, Linda comes out and tells me how good my daughter is doing, and she tells me a little about what the next lesson is. Even when I know my daughter hasn't put in the effort she could have, Linda is always supportive and encouraging. Sometimes people are just in the right place at the right time, and I feel we were very fortunate to find Linda when we did.
