Trina G.

New Hyde Park, NY

Fun, engaging, personalized, and productive, lessons with me are enjoyable and highly effective. As a professional piano teacher of 16 years and a classically trained pianist, teaching piano is my passion. I want the love of music, the feeling of accomplishment, and the ineffable joy of learning to play piano to be the reason my students want to practice piano and attend lessons.

The rapport between student and teacher is one of the most important factors of your First Class lessons. I consider it a priority that each student feel comfortable with me, feel at-home in my studio, enjoy their lessons, and develop a love and knowledge of music that will last a lifetime.

New concepts and homework/ practice assignments are explained and documented in easy-to-understand ways. Proper technique is stressed regardless of experience level or age. Lessons also include music theory and ear-training in addition to sight-reading.

Students have the opportunity to showcase their talent ...

About Trina

I am a friendly, patient, enthusiastic, experienced teacher, joyfully instructing piano professionally since 1999. Music transcends words, and I have a deep understanding of music/ piano, both personal and experiential which I truly enjoy sharing with my students. I draw from my love of music and my own experience as a pianist, piano student, and piano teacher to motivate and inspire my students.

A classically-trained pianist, I've been taking piano lessons since age 6 and playing "by ear" from early childhood. I continued to study piano throughout elementary school and high school.
In c
ollege I majored in music, studying piano, music history and theory, and psychology in addition to fieldwork and internships in music therapy. I have extensive experience working with students with special needs. In graduate school, I studied classical piano and music theory with professor David Holzman, Grammy-nominated pianist and lecturer.

Fun, engaging, personalized, and productive, each lesson is both enjoyable and effective. I want the love of music to be the reason my students want to practice piano and attend lessons. I believe the rapport between student and teacher to be one of the most important factors of your lessons. I consider it a priority that each student feel comfortable with me, feel at-home in my studio, enjoy their lessons, and develop a love and knowledge of music that will last a lifetime.

Proper technique is stressed regardless of experience level or age.

I hold annual Student Piano Recitals for my students and their families.

My 5 and 8 years old sons have been learning piano from Ms.Trina almost a year. I was amazed at Ms. Trina's unending patience. I cannot believe I can find a piano teacher with good patience dealing with my sons. My 5 year old son was always lacking confidence to do every single thing, but through Ms. Trina's encouragement, he has gain confidence and he actually feels proud of himself when he plays something well. My 8 years old son likes to complain every single things, but he was so happy with Ms. Trina and he even told me Ms. Trina is the best teacher. About Nino

I began studying piano and music theory when I was 5. My father was an accomplished musician (classical and folklore) who played great role in my accomplishment as a pianist and teacher

While studying in Music College, I took part in various festivals and competitions. I performed several piano concertos with symphonic orchestra. Some of them are: Mozart Piano Concerto No 20 in D minor, Saint-Saens Piano Concerto No 2 in G minor, Schumann Piano Concerto in A minor Op 54 pt. Parallel with my studies in College I gave piano lessons in classical music. I accomplished my studies with honors.
I traveled and taught music in different countries: United Kingdom, Central and Eastern Europe which helped me gain great experience how to teach students with different background

I got my MA from the Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA). My studies were focused on education administration and management. This helped me manage class in most efficient and effective way , plan lessons and develop curricula.

I would eagerly take students from all age groups and backgrounds and involve them in the most exciting process of self accomplishment.

Nino, is a gentle and patient soul. She is very intuitive to one's needs and immediately corrects you on the spot, which is good for perfection. She wants you, the student to get it, and she uses her professional aptitude to push you to a higher octave.

I highly recommend her for your piano training. I, myself, wouldn't mind her being my instructor again in the future.

My 14 year old daughter loves music lessons from Ophelia. I can say this is the first time my daughter has ever expressed this much interest in music. I was glad I was able to find Ophelia through another friend of mine whose daughter also learns from Ophelia. Whenever Ophelia teaches a new piece of music, she goes over the composer's history with her, teaches the theory behind the piece, and does a ton of musicianship training. The lessons are truly worth their cost. It makes my daughter learn so much, just as if she was going to school. I've got to say, Ophelia is worth her price tag. Anywhere else with this kind of private music training would probably go for at least $100 per 45 minute or more.

Ophelia is truly wonderful for helping my daughter pick up piano again. She is 15 years old and there's a lot of distractions that kept her from practicing piano. Ophelia was able to help her find interest in it again. Her teaching style is truly unique. After my daughter took her lessons she gradually became a better and happier musician and not just play off the books. Ophelia teaches music theory, singing and more to really help benefit my daughter overall! I will definitely be recommending her to my daughter's classmates!
