I will help you select and prepare a monologue so that it is audition ready.

About Marissa

I am a professional vocalist with a broad range of experience. With a Bachelor of Music (Musical Theater) from Belmont University I am more than qualified to teach with a well supported vocal foundation. As a true lover of music and arts, I encourage my students to sing as much as possible! My confident and exciting approach to singing brings out the best in my students, which translates beautifully to real life situations. *** Lesson Details *** Each person is different in nature and each performer has a personal style and goal. My goal is to get to know what kind of voice and style each student desires, and base the curriculum off of that knowledge. A basic lesson looks like this: 5 minutes of breathing exercises 10-25 minutes of vocal technique exercises (e.g. scales) ...

Monica is an outstanding voice teacher. She customized each lesson, from warm ups to repertoire choices, to fit the age, skill level, vocal strengths, and interests of each singer. Watching her work with high school age students is a joy--she loves what she does and the students respond very well to her. They are enthusiastic about going to their lessons and beaming when the lessons are over. Monica brings her strong vocal pedagogy knowledge, along with her own talent and passion for teaching to the voice lesson. She is a wonderful instructor. Highly recommend!

Besides being a fantastic vocalist, Monica is also a great teacher. She is very creative, patient and calm (no drama), but is still disciplined and persistent. She managed to get basic music theory into my thick skull and help me with sight reading, and did not yell at me when I didn't do my homework! The only downside is that she is so talented and well trained that she makes singing look effortless.

Carole is an amazing acting teacher. She reviews all the material prior to meeting and begins each session with questions to help me dive deeper into the character. Carole creates a safe place play. Also, she gives me the confidence I need to walk into the audition room prepared and ready to work. I’ve worked with Carole for many years. Carole is a fantastic artist and I’m so grateful to have her in my life. You're the best!
Marlene R. Astoria, NY

I'm a working filmmaker who is making independent movies and web series. I will help you discover your authentic voice as a person and actor who can express themselves freely. I will help you use fear instead of being stopped by it and turn anxiety into excitement. I work very uniquely with each person depending on what their level is and how ready they are. I approach material from a very truthful human place and guide you to let YOU come through the character's voice.

About Marlene

I love teaching people to express themselves in the performing and written arts. I am great with beginners. I attended Ithaca College’s film program on a screenwriting scholarship. Since then, I've directed and choreographed over 50 music videos including 2Pac Shakur’s last, Amy Winehouse’s “F-Me Pumps,” as well as an award winning indie feature called THE BIG SHOT-CALLER. It was well received by the New York Times and critic Kam Williams gave it four stars. I was selected by FILMMAKER Magazine as one of their “Top 25 New Faces of Independent Film.” I have since written and directed three different comedy web series on YouTube entitled “My Parents Are Crazier Than Yours,” “Angry Gladys,” and “I Don’t Care About the Assholes with Dr. Rita Gatswani.” I am currently in the process ...

Hip Hop Dance · In home
I have little dance background. Took some ballet when I was a kid but that's all. I watched a few dance movies such as "Step Up" and it inspired me to take up hip hop dancing. I took a couple of group lessons in one of those dance studios but I did not feel comfortable after that because everybody there seemed so skilled. I decided to go for private lessons and came across Marlene's profile. My first lesson with her went well. She was VERY patient! Since I'm a beginner she took it easy on me and taught me dance moves that she felt I would be capable of handling. She plans on teaching me more advanced moves as I progress into the next level. I really appreciate her patience and I look forward to my next lesson. ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND!

Marlene is a great hip hop teacher! She's patient, has good technique, and an outgoing personality. I highly recommend!! So far I've only had 3 lessons with her but I booked a few more so I can continue to grow as a dancer. For practice, I go out to clubs with some friends. Guys notice me more and ask me to dance. I am more confident than ever! Thanks to Marlene!!

Marlene has been a remarkable teacher for me. I had never been involved in any type of Acting previously, but I always had a curiosity to try it out. I initially scheduled my online acting classes with Marlene to help give me confidence in expressing more of my natural self in my presentations, sales delivery, and daily conversations for my job. But I also went into these lessons with the goal of trying something exciting and somewhat daring, and who knows, maybe there is a role out there for me to try out in the future as I continue to improve my abilities and talents in acting. Marlene is very understanding and takes the time to learn about her students. From the very first minute I felt completely comfortable with her style of teaching. She challenges and encourages me throughout our lessons and I have already noticed significant improvements. She has opened me up to a new and adventurous path in how I can incorporate acting in my life and I am truly grateful for her help. I look forward to more lessons with Marlene and I highly recommend her.

Introduction to Voice Acting: Books & Resources to Check Out
When it comes to the performing arts, voice acting attracts some of the most fiercely dedicated enthusiasts, despite the relative anonymity compared to acting on stage or on screen. In the old days, radio dramas were the most common inspiration for aspiring voice actors. Today, it’s animation. The key component of voice acting, even more than secrecy and seclusion, is versatility. An in-demand voice actor may be called upon to provide the pipes for a cartoon rabbit in a kid's show on Friday, a
