Adam is really super (I am only on my third lesson). He will make you feel comfortable and interact with you in a personable and dynamic way.

He is the perfect teacher if you want to improve your stage voice and pitch. Adam is the man if you have fame on your mind. Julia

If you are a little slow on the uptake, (like I am when I don't know the subject matter) you need to be brave and follow his directions in practicing techniques. Adam personalizes his lessons, but they could be more planned. They feel a little too unprepared.

Cheryl C.

Mount Tabor, NJ

In addition to polishing a piece to play in a public venue, I help the student prepare their presentation from appropriate dress, to walking on stage, performing with or without a mic and general stage presence.

Performance opportunities are relayed to students during their lessons.

About Cheryl

I specialize in teaching music to ages 7 through 18 including college prep. I can prepare a high school student for college auditions (college prep) and guide adults who are serious about taking their music skills beyond tablature.

The focus is to learn how to read music, play melody and chords and progressively acquire skills as a guitarist. Music theory and rhythm study is included to round out the musicianship of the student.

With regular daily practice, and as the student becomes more accomplished, we can add other music skills, like ear-training, accompaniment/ensemble work and so
ngwriting.

Learning an instrument teaches focus, develops self-direction, self-esteem, how to reach a goal, plus the added benefit of developing the brain for academic achievement. And, it's just plain FUN!!

I have been a musician for over 25 years. I have a Bachelor of Music and have taught guitar for over 10 years. In addition to guitar, I'm a vocalist, composer and arranger as well as a music publisher. I actively perform as both a classical guitarist and singer-songwriter.

I specialize in acoustic and acoustic/electric guitar - both classical and contemporary, steel string and nylon.

This is perfect for home schooled children or as a supplement to public or private school music programs. Children age 7 and up, properly seated with the right size guitar and under the guidance of an experienced teacher (me!) do very well.

PLEASE SPEAK TO ME before purchasing you or your child's instrument. A standard size steel string guitar is frequently difficult for a child (and some adults!) to handle.

***NOTES ABOUT SPECIAL NEEDS***

Usually, learning disabilities, ADD & ADHD go together just fine with guitar lessons and frequently give these precious young people a creative outlet. Speak to me about your child's needs so I can prepare the best lessons possible!

Be aware that there are stairs to my home studio. Please take this into consideration if you have an ambulatory disability.

*** STUDIO EQUIPMENT ***

Home Studio, dedicated space, guitars and recording equipment, keyboard and amps, music stands, chairs, comfortable waiting area for parents.

Cheryl is great. This is the first time I'm taking professional guitar lessons, and I was very nervous when starting, but she made me feel comfortable. She is very patient, and even after only 4 weeks of lessons I feel that I've learned a lot and I'm very excited to continue!

My daughter Michelle learned from Cheryl since 2015 Spring. After three months, Michelle could play a song in June in front of audience in Madison Hotel, NJ. Michelle got inspired from Cheryl so much and she liked to attend guitar lessons all the time. We believe that Cheryl is an outstanding guitar teacher for any beginning guitar learner.

Our 12-year old son has been learning clarinet from Mr. Dimitry for about a year now and we highly recommend him to prospective students for his deep music knowledge, rich clarinet performance experience and above all, just being a great clarinet teacher.

In a year's time with Mr. Dimitry, our son's progress has been very impressive. After our son started lessons with Mr. Dimitry, it quickly became apparent that Mr. Dimitry is a very experienced teacher for young musicians. He engages our son effectively to keep him interested in music and clarinet while at the same time sets high expectations for him. Our son always looks forward to clarinet lessons and also is motivated to practice pieces at home.

Mr. Dimitry not only teaches sound clarinet skills, but also emphasizes the importance of playing music the right way, that is to tell stories and express feelings through music rather than to play music like a technician. Although it is difficult for a young musician to fully appreciate this concept, it does go a long way in preparing him to become a really good musician in the long run.

Mr. Dimitry is very polite, pleasant and professional. We recommend him without any reservation.

My 7 year old son has been taking recorder lessons from Dimitry for almost 1 year now. Dimitry is very patient, encouraging, and enganging - considering that my son is on the younger side. Dimitry provides music instruction that is appropriate age and level wise, so my son feels accomplished and challenged at the same time.
We plan to continue with Dimitry and hopefully advance to the clarinet once his fingers can cover the clarinet holes and he has learned more music theory. My son looks forward to his music lessons. We are very pleased with his musical instruction.

Incredibly amiable, professional, and talented as a teacher.

As a senior in high school now graduating and transferring into college, I started my lessons with Dimitry in December last year and had to end this summer at the end of the music school's program. Even though my time learning the saxophone was short, Dimitry used my past musical experience to help guide me through the instrument. His lessons did not feel long in any sense of the word, and in fact some two-hour lessons I took to make up missed weeks blew by, as I was constantly engaged by his teachings. During my studies with him I found myself in the presence of a true musician, and this was only further driven home when I saw him play in the Hanover Wind Symphony at the Morristown Community Theater with Stanley Drucker. I would highly recommend Dimitry as an instructor for a student at any level.

Marshall G.

Randolph, NJ

I studied flute privately at Calderone School of Music in East Hanover, NJ. I performed at concerts there solo and in ensembles.

I played open mics at Skidmore college on the acoustic guitar, singing songs I wrote and covers.

I have much experience performing with my band, Tribal Days.

About Marshall

I teach music lessons on most instruments. My primary instrument is flute, but I am also a skilled pianist, guitarist, bassist, drummer, and cellist. I also play the violin, viola, saxophone, clarinet, bassoon, and oboe. I work around the clock practicing to develop my skills on all instruments. Brass is my weakest link, but I plan on reaching at least high school proficiency in all instruments at some point. I am pursuing a career as a performing flute virtuoso, and it is my belief that a well-rounded education in all other instruments will make me a better flutist.

I play drums in a band
called Tribal Days. Tribal Days is Chris Gennone, Andrew Merclean, Harrison Bieth, and myself. I played bass and keyboards for several years. We have recorded one full length record and another one is nearing completion. I'm experienced in digital editing, mixing, and sound engineering.

I am also a professional painter, although I am devoting most of my time to music right now. My preferred mediums are acrylic, oil, watercolor, and pencil. I studied art intensively in high school and continued to study in college. I won the Painting Award in my senior year of high school at West Morris Mendham. Although my focus has shifted to music, I do offer art lessons!

I was fortunate to have the experience of studying both Ballet and Ice Dancing from the time I was 5 until I was 17. I studied at New Jersey Ballet for a long time. I was coached in Ice Dance for many years by Olympic medalists, and I competed in Junior Nationals in 2005. Both disciplines had a profound effect on my musicianship and I continue to practice stretching exercises and sometimes practice Ice Dance for fun. By 2007 I had decided to study music full time.

Ari F.

East Brunswick, NJ

This part is mostly for if you have a consistent issue with performance, such as performance anxiety, stage fright, stuttering, 'zoning in' too far and getting off tempo, anything like that. I will be able to observe and train you into becoming more comfortable with performance, as well as offering tips on musicality and being brutally honest about your posture.

About Ari

Hi! My name is Ari, I'm 20 years old and a junior at Kean University, studying Music Education. I am a 3.8 GPA student who has been studying cello since I was 8 and piano since I was 3. I have a permissive teaching style that is sensitive to developmental disability and mental illness, but also can be quite harrowing and strict if you have the desire to truly become a great musician.
My specialties are strings, music theory, and piano. I'm very energetic and expect genuine effort from all my students. I try to make things fun, so I hope you try too!
