About Carl

During your first lesson I do a computer analysis of your voice, I find out what your goals are in singing, what your favorite kinds of music are, and I take you in the direction you want to go and show you how to get there in the shortest possible time.

Think you're the only one who feels that terrifying nervousness? Most everyone does, including the biggest stars. I've written a book about it entitled, "How To Conquer Nervousness For Singers", and I'll teach you to not only handle it, but to direct its energy into your singing, making your performance soar. I've also written, "How To G
et Standing Ovations For Singers" to teach you to drive your audience to their feet for a standing ovation.

I always record my students so that they know how they sound to others. I also make a CD of them singing to background music if they wish, included in the cost of the lessons for no extra charge.

Learn to sing beautifully, and most important, emotionally. Learn the parts of your vocal instrument, How each works, How they work together. Develop Breath support (80% of singing). Learn "The Singer's Formant", that "ringing" sound of professionals. Learn how to conquer nervousness, learn about Resonance, Overtones, Vibrato, How to sing high notes, Learn the "singing vowels", and more.

I would rather teach singing than eat chocolate, and if you knew how much I like chocolate, you'd know my passion for teaching singing. I've been studying voice since third grade, and teaching singing for eighteen years.

I've had nine singing teachers myself, so I know just how you feel. I get you comfortable, and I listen closely to what you want to do and where you want to go with your singing voice.

My students learn all the important aspects of singing right away, rather than drawing them out over time.

I teach beginner, intermediate, advanced, and professional students of all ages.

I teach all styles of singing, including pop, blues, gospel, classical voice, rock, jazz, SCAT singing, belting, country and western, and RAP.

I teach singing in English, Italian, Spanish, and German.

As my singing student you'll have access to the four books I've written on singing: SING BETTER FAST: a complete but concise treatise on vocal technique (It includes a Practice CD with a free recording studio program to install into your computer); How to conquer nervousness for singers, how to get standing ovations for singers, and sing better fast 2, advanced singing. These four books are the most current and relevant works on these subjects available today.

My Bachelor's and Master's Degrees are from California State University Dominguez Hills.

Put your singing voice in my hands. You'll love what happens.

*** Lesson Details ***
My introductory class includes a computer analysis of your singing voice, then describes the main parts of your vocal instrument, how each works, and how they work together. It teaches you what a song is, and how to sing a song well right away.

During the first lesson I record every student and play it back, both for computer analysis, and also so the student can hear how they sound to others. Remember the first time you heard yourself in a recording and said, "That's not me!" I'll explain that to you, and why it's so important to record yourself and listen to your recordings.

Your lessons are designed toward YOUR goals and desires in singing, and include specific guides for your between lessons practice sessions.

I also teach how to sing karaoke and impress an audience. I've been studying audience psychology for more than 15 years, and my entire orientation in teaching singing is to, "DRIVE YOUR AUDIENCE TO THEIR FEET FOR A STANDING OVATION!"

I record CD's with custom labels for students, with their picture, included in the price of the lessons. You can have a CD of yourself singing for you to to play, to give to your family and friends, or perhaps to sell.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons are in my home studio, with recording equipment which we use to record you in lessons and on CD's, high quality studio monitor speakers that let you sound exactly the way you sound to others, high quality recording microphones, computer, control panel, keyboard, and music stands.

*** Travel Equipment ***
When I come to your location for lessons I bring portable equipment to do a computer analysis of the student's voice, and to record and play back my student's progress for analysis and discussion.

*** Specialties ***
I teach singing in English, Italian, Spanish, & German, in all styles, including Pop, Blues, Gospel, Classical, Rock, Jazz, Scat Singing, Belting, Country and Western, and Rap.

You will like Carl as your instructor. He is an expert at what he does, especially voice analysis with techniques to better any singing voice. He knows from A to Z what needs to be done to correct and improve, and this he imparts with specific instructions, coupled with lots of encouragement. He has generously worked with both my husband (a very good voice) and me (a bit of the ordinary) and we have always been satisfied with his professionalism and love of the art. Thanks, Carl.

Cody M.

Santa Ana, CA

Four years of intensive training at a Conservatory of Music, I will help you achieve your Operatic sound with ease.

About Cody

So, what is the "right way" to sing? Well, there's more than one answer. Having performed in, and taught various genres (including but not limited to jazz, musical theatre, opera, pop, barbershop, A-Capella, and do-wop), I have encountered countless ideas on what people think the correct technique is. Many find it far too difficult to coordinate the seemingly overwhelming technicalities that can accompany "correct" vocal use. I am proud to say that I have come across the best combination of tools and a straight-forward approach to vastly improving your abilities and overall vocal health. I am
confident that it is the easiest and most efficient way to get the results you're looking for. I will help you preserve your voice as well to achieve the most important thing - longevity. Learn to expand your range in the healthiest way so you can sing for as long as you're able to speak. I look forward to finding YOUR voice and setting you on the path to success!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Keyboard, Taylor 214ce Acoustic Guitar, 6 Microphones (AKG Perception 220, AKG c214, Rhode NT1-A, SURE SM7B, SURE SM57 BETA, SURE SM58), as well as ADAMS A7X Monitoring Speakers; all which can provide recorded vocal lessons & demo's for select sessions.

*** Travel Equipment ***
If traveling to a home, I would prefer that the student has a piano/keyboard, background tracks to the pieces they'd like to work on, and a recording device to review their lessons.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in vocal technique and pedagogical care of the voice. I can provide the best combination of tools and a straight-forward approach to vastly improving your abilities and overall vocal health. Preserve your voice with correct use, to achieve longevity.

READ THE BREAKDOWN.

Cody is a great producer and a great guy - both are equally important in creating the best recording experience. Some of his attributes are best expanded upon with bullet-points.

HUMBLE.
This is hugely important. There is not a pretentious bone in his body. Cody is great at what he does but is not afraid to ask for help from people who might know more about whatever aspect of the music creation process specific to the artist. There is no “I’m the producer and I know more than you” attitude. Instead, his attitude is very much of equality where both parties understand the strengths that they bring to the table.

PATIENT.
Sometimes I have a lot of ideas - or none at all. Cody would bear with my A.D.D. moments in the studio when dealing with ideas that I sometimes couldn't communicate. Instead of writing my ideas off, he instead worked with me until we achieved exactly what I was trying to get at.

RESPECTFUL.
Being an artist himself, Cody has immense respect for the artist and their creations.

UNDERSTANDING.
Cody’s understanding of all kinds of music lends to his fearlessness of exploring new genres - but it doesn't stop at exploring - he captures their essence. I've heard tracks he’s done that are R&B, indie-rock, country, EDM, etc. and its hard to imagine they were all from the same brain. If you wanted a Bollywood track, I’m sure he could give you one.

RESOURCEFUL.
Cody has ingenuity and is resourceful. He would never tell me what *works with my kind of music* or what kind of instrument I would *need for the song* - if we wanted a certain sound, we’d make it - out of wax paper and water bottles if necessary.

EFFICIENT.
Mostly I sat in awe and watched Cody click and move stuff.

COMMITTED.
Even when he didn't have to, Cody would work on my track in his free time meticulously making sure everything was how it should sound and also just to make sure there wasn't any territory we had overlooked.

And that's just naming a few.

All in all, Cody brings a child-like spirit of wonder to his sessions - where the song is not a job or a chore, but a new world waiting to be explored, full of possibilities waiting to be uncovered. And that excitedness and spirit of discovery is KEY to sustaining creativity in a studio environment. Not only does it make the whole process productive, it makes it FUN. Cody’s character bleeds into how he works and into what he creates and the final product reflects that.

So Helpful and Patient

Cody is one of the best voice teachers out there. Whether it's helping you get started on your first song, or helping you understand the basics of music theory, he is hands down one of the best voice teachers I have ever had. He is very patient, and within the first 5 minutes he will be able to tell what you need the most help on, sometimes without you even needing to say it. You will leave the lesson feeling fully accomplished and confident.

Awesome recording session!

I had such a pleasure working with Cody. He is so creative and wants the absolute best for his clients/students. I am a singer who sings a lot of Broadway and classical repertoire, and wanted to record a track that was more on the side of pop. I was nervous at first, but in just a couple of takes, Cody helped me find my pop voice and really made me feel at ease singing my vocals. He had me do a couple of cool tricks to really connect with what I was singing about and after that, everything clicked and I was letting myself be free with my new sound and Cody was so supportive and gave wonderful feedback. He's a great coach as well! I loved every idea he had.
I had so much fun in the studio and highly recommend working with him...I know I will again in the future.

Nadia S.

Costa Mesa, CA

Includes all aspects of technical training, as well as preparation of opera repertoire appropriate to the students age, level of ability, voice type and interests.

About Nadia

In voice lessons, students learn optimal Vocal Technique through a series of personally-tailored body, breath and vocal exercises. This allows the student to develop a natural, free voice which will be applicable to any style of singing and will promote healthy speech and singing habits throughout life. Students then learn how to integrate their technique into the songs they want to sing. Through Song Coaching, as well as extensive work in Diction, the student develops the ability to bring his artistic vision to life with the right balance of technical control, authentic style, and musicality.
Students also work on their stage presence and song delivery through Acting for Singers. This includes analysis of song lyrics and specific techniques for bringing the emotion the singer feels for the song out to the audience through his facial expressions, body movement and vocal expression.

Last, but certainly not least, many singers need skill development in Musicianship. This may include music reading, sight-singing, ear-training and basic music theory. Any or all of these elements can be addressed as desired by the student.

I found Nadia after calling and speaking to several voice teachers in the LA/OC area. All of her students speak incredibly high of her.

When I first started lessons with her, I had a new found love of classical music and wanted to continue exploring where my voice could go in that arena. Nadia has been extremely open and supportive of everything I have wanted to try and has given me great repertoire suggestions when I simply had no clue.

After a little over a year with her, the range in my voice has definitely increased and my vocal quality has improved tremendously. It's amazing how different my voice sounds today compared to when I first started with her.

The work that I do at each lesson is well worth the money. I never leave without breaking a sweat!

I'€™ve known Nadia for years as both a fine performer and a great teacher and voice trouble-shooter. Her knowledge of technique is as deep as her understanding of the artistry of singing.

I'd say I'€™m an advanced singer. I'€™ve sung publicly for years a range of popular songs with a band and I'€™ve performed classical repertoire.

Many singers find The Star Spangled Banner challenging and when I was asked to sing the national anthem before a convention of thousands of people, I sought out Nadia'€™s expertise.

I had concerns about my voice being injured due to chronic illness and perhaps relying on improper technique to compensate for the resulting problems. I had trouble accessing certain parts of my range.

When I took my apprehensions to Nadia, she made quick work of the problems. She first did an evaluation by running me through various exercises in order to pinpoint where in my range issues might exist. She worked patiently with me and taught me techniques that helped me return to my full vocal range. And I'€™m most grateful to Nadia for setting my mind at ease about the shape my voice was in and restoring my confidence to perform in front of a large audience.

I have been singing my entire life but I essentially lost the ability to sing after suffering an injury to my larynx. When I asked my Dr. to recommend someone to help me regain my voice, he gave me Nadia's information. I am so very grateful he did. Nadia is by far the BEST vocal coach I have ever had, and her talent and knowledge of vocal technique is unsurpassed.

I am constantly learning how to improve my voice, increase my range, and increase my breath. She always gives me a challenge to work on and keeps it interesting every lesson. I feel extremely blessed to have found her because honestly, without her, I don't even know where my voice would be today! She is simply amazing.

Eulis K.

San Diego, CA

Opera Voice lessons will teach you the techniques to get you from singing in the shower, to singing on the stage! Learn the best methods to keep your voice healthy and in good shape, memorize lyrics and convey them with sincerity (despite your nerves!), develop a character and "become" that character while you sing and more!

About Eulis

---------- Now teaching in Orange County AND San Diego! ---------

Hello! Thanks for visiting my profile. Allow me to tell you a bit about myself:
I have been performing as a musician for about 20 years and acting since I was a small boy. I started my musical education as a woodwind player and settled in to the wonderful world of singing over time. Music has opened me up to so many opportunities from touring the world to performing in marvelous concert halls and working with some of today's most revered artists, as well as giving me the opportunity to expand my performance through act
ing in various plays, musicals, television, and film.

Performing has been my salvation. It has been a best friend and constant source of joy, and I share this gift with others so that it might offer them the same. After 10 years of teaching, I have new experiences to draw from and share with my students. I've spent my last 6 years performing with Disney in Anaheim and this past year touring Japan in their Tokyo Disney cast, and I must say that my experiences have given "performance" a new depth. I'm excited to dive back into lessons with fresh ideas that will mesh well with my tried and tested teaching techniques.

Originally from Los Angeles, I now reside in Orange County and I'm especially proud to be expanding my studio to San Diego as well! I am so excited to share my experiences with the people of this beautiful and inspiring town. If you're interested in learning more about my lesson style, feel free to contact me and I'd be happy to talk with you about a plan to help you reach your goals!

My Teaching Style

Over the past several years I have focused much of my personal growth on developing my ears' ability to pick out and pinpoint vocal “placement”, resonance, subtleties of timbre, changes in pitch, breath support, air speed and flow, pronunciation and diction, and in general, the way in which all of these work together to create style. From these assessments, I work with the student’s particular needs to address each area individually and based on the learning style of each person.
To illustrate to the student their method as I see and hear it, as well as ways in which they might make changes to facilitate the ease of singing --be they changes of tessitura (range), length of phrase, tone color, the release of unnecessary tension etc.-- I make use of vocalise (vocal exercises), simile and metaphor, examples from recorded performances, demonstration, self assessment, and techniques to “trick” the voice into acting in a different way, in addition to videos, diagrams, and texts on anatomy and physiology. I feel that all of these tools provide a unique and personalized learning experience for each student.

I am a dentist and my wonderful assistant was having trouble communicating with patients. Her voice was flat and monotone and she would freeze up when asked a question. Outside of work her voice and personality was completely different, and I wanted to see it come out when she worked with our patients. She did 5 online lessons with Eulis using Skype. I noticed a difference immediately, she was more confident and her personality began to show in her voice. I am very happy with the results and my assistant has stated that this has helped her in both her personal and professional life. She is no longer freezing up when asked a difficult question and is speaking in a more direct and purposeful way. Thank you Eulis!

Amy has a great command of technique and such an easy manner. She is super-friendly and was always positive with me. I've worked with several voice teachers, so I know what there is out there to choose from. Amy is definitely in the upper-echelon of teachers in her style, her personality, and her depth of knowledge. She sings pretty great, too.

For over 20 years Amy has impressed me with her singing and performance. As a performer, she is absolutely TERRIFIC! As Mixed Company's Music Director, Amy has elevated our music, our singers, their musicianship, and their performance to such a high level that our top clients, (Disneyland, Knott's Berry Farm, Five Crowns Restaurant, and Summit House Restaurant) rest easy knowing that the overall quality of our performance cannot be equalled anywhere in the Christmas Caroling industry. Amy has my heartfelt gratitude, and my highest recommendation.
