Jason F.

Baltimore, MD

I've been performing and teaching guitar and bass full time since 1994. I love providing my students with a fun musical experience while helping them achieve their individual goals. Over the years, I've helped countless students find their own unique musical path.

I feel very comfortable teaching most styles of music. I love working with children, teens, and adults. My classes are fun, challenging, and down to earth.
Whatever your goals are, I'll design a lesson plan for you to help you achieve them. Every week will build from the previous week's lesson. If you aren't sure what your goals are, I'll help you find several, and give you clearly defined projects to help you achieve them. Here are some examples of great goals to work toward:

-Learning your first song
-Writing a song
-Making a recording
-Finding other musicians to play with
-Auditioning for a band
-Auditioning for music school, or for a music scholarship

Learning a song is an amazing experience. ...

About Jason

I have been teaching and performing as a full time career since 1994. Over the years, I have developed an approach to teaching that is customized to the needs and interests of each of my students. I will help you set up musical goals, and then use your preferred learning style to help you achieve those goals.

*** Lesson Details ***
Musicians think, learn, and create in many different ways. Some are visual learners, preferring to learn by studying diagrams and reading notes. Others learn intuitively, simply by listening, imitating, and then creating. My objective is to find the lear
ning style which works best for each of my students. I can help you set up musical goals, and then use your preferred learning style to help you achieve those goals.

*** Specialties ***
I'm comfortable teaching any style, from bluegrass to jazz, blues, rock and metal.

Though I was only able to take lessons with Jason for a couple months due to an unexpected move, I was able to learn a lot from him. I came in with very little guitar experience and no background in music. His lessons are very accommodating and I felt I walked away a little bit better every time. Jason is a great guy and it is easy to share your goals and ideas for the future with him. When working with Jason it felt like a team effort in order to help me reach my goals. In the short time I took lessons with Jason I learned a lot about the guitar and I am excited to build upon the music career he helped me to start. A definite Recommendation.

Nathan R.

Windsor Mill, MD

I can teach all genres as well as all the different techniques, such as slap and pop, two handed tapping, etc.

About Nathan

I have been teaching private lessons for close to 10 years and have been an active performer for even longer, playing in all different types of groups, from rock bands and jazz groups to orchestras and brass bands. I studied music at Frostburg State University (Bachelors) and the Peabody Conservatory (Masters). I can teach just about any age and skill level and cover anything you are interested in learning; whether its a certain style, genre, technique or song.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are laid back, with a focus on perfecting the basics. Most students work out of a method boo
k appropriate to their skill level. Aside from that we'll also spend time learning songs and pieces of the students choice. With the right amount of effort, you'll know your way around your instrument in no time at all

*** Travel Equipment ***
Will provide sheet music and exercises. My students should have a working instrument as well as any method book or sheet music we are working on.

*** Specialties ***
I teach all styles and genres

As an over 50 student who use to be somewhat decent at playing the piano 30 years ago, I was fairly nervous about starting up again, as well as somewhat skeptical that lessons would really help. But after a few months with Nathan I can say that they are definitely helping and I feel lucky to have found him. Nathan is not only knowledgeable but has an excellent instinct regarding what I need in an instructor. I feel confident he would be able to adapt his style to any type of student of any age range or ability level.

Nathan is an EXCELLENT piano teacher! He's encouraging, not at all upset when I clearly haven't practiced,
and is a pleasure to be with. He is gifted in the way he seems just the right teacher for me, though I'm sure he's as fine a teacher for others who have their own individual approaches to learning to play the piano.

We are so happy that he shared his talent with us. He gave my son beneficial skills to practice and assessed what he would work on during our next lesson. Thank you for connecting us.

Jeremy B.

Curtis Bay, MD

Students can experience a lesson plan directly formulated towards their own personal interests. This could range from basic guitar fundamentals, which include learning basic chords, scales, reading music, playing different rhythmic patterns and playing beginner level songs. More advanced topics could also be implemented such as, modes, rhythmic syncopation, and harmonic chord progressions. Also, if the student wants to learn how to play their favorite songs this can also be arranged.

About Jeremy

I have been an avid music lover my entire life and have also been playing music for almost 20 years, while having experience playing music in multiple bands around the Baltimore/D.C./Virginia area. I enjoy listening and playing all types of music and genres. I graduated from Anne Arundel Community College with an Associates degree in Transfer Studies while focusing and completing their music theory program. Currently I am attending the University of Maryland Baltimore County while pursuing a Bachelors degree in Music Education.
I have proficient skills in music performance, sight reading
, sight singing, music theory, part writing and I play guitar, bass and some keyboard.
I look forward to teaching all inspired musicians to help them fulfill their aspirations.

Mr. Rittling's credentials are impeccaable. His love of music and teaching is obvious. The lessons are in a relaxed setting. The home assignments are a little challenging, but that's a good thing. Chances are my next rating will be higher as I had no one to compare him to.
