About Jonah

Hello all. I have been teaching for about 10 years now. I have degrees from two universities, one for jazz performance and one for classical performance. I have played in multiple bands throughout my life ranging in styles from punk rock all the way to straight ahead jazz. If you choose me for lessons, we will work on developing your musical vocabulary, learning to read music, hand exercises, chordal structures, scales, tablature and so much more. I have a love for music like none other and a passion to share that with my students. *** Lesson Details *** A typical lesson with me would start with some warm-up exercises. I then like to move on to any book material you may have had for that week. We will also work on chords and scales to use accordingly with any songs you're ...

Excellent Instructor for All Ages

Our 10 year old son is really enjoying his weekly at-home guitar lessons with Jonah. Jonah has been careful to thoroughly cover the basics before moving on to more in-depth instruction. This patient teaching method has proved invaluable to keeping our son engaged and giving him confidence to move forward. Jonah approaches each lesson with an easy-going and relaxed demeanor balanced with a serious expectation of learning each lesson's stated goals and objectives. Our son is looking forward to a successful year learning the guitar and we would highly recommend Jonah to anyone seeking guitar instruction.

Bryan B. Shelton, CT

About Bryan

I have enjoyed music as long as I can remember! Whether listening, playing, writing, or teaching…I find great pleasure in the creative outlet that music provides. At the age of five I began studying classical piano, in elementary school I studied trumpet, in middle school I picked up the guitar and bass, and in high school these experiences collided as I began to write and arrange for various ensembles. Playing in a rock band all through high school and college, I've had opportunity to record two albums and to tour regionally in the North East. Receiving a Bachelor of Music in Music Education at Gordon College in Wenham, MA, I studied classical guitar with David Patterson for four years while I gained much experience in various areas of classroom education (band, choir, theory, ...

Cameron S. Ansonia, CT

About Cameron

STUDYING WITH ME: Learning guitar should be interesting and fun! While we're studying all the different aspects of the instrument, you'll also be learning how to play your favorite songs and solos! I approach each student as an individual and structure their lessons according to what I determine they need, as well as what they are interested in musically. I concentrate on many different areas; ear training, theory, playing technique, improvisation, various styles of music, and, the physics of the guitar. Understanding how the instrument works is important in my opinion. My long term goal is to teach a student how they can teach themselves down the line. Understanding why you’re playing something is just important as knowing how to play it. I aim to give a student rich and well ...

Guitar
A solid teacher with a lot of experience

Cameron is great at tailoring the lessons to my musical taste without compromising the theory, basics and fundamentals.
I have been taking lessons for one year and will not go elsewhere anytime soon. His vast musical knowledge helps merge the theory with concrete examples. No question remains unanswered.

I've been taking bass lessons from Cameron for a few months now. He's a great instructor. Very knowledgeable, very patient, and puts in time outside our lessons to be prepared to teach or play new material that I am interested in. I always look forward to my lessons. If you're looking for a good bass or guitar teacher (not sure what else he might teach) Cameron is your guy!
