-Thread sewing machine properly
-Wind thread on a bobbin
-Sew a straight, curved and pivot corners for squares or zigzags
-Sew a French seam
-Attach a zipper and button on the machine
-Read a store bought pattern
-Create a simple basic pillow or article of clothing

Each student must be prepared for lessons with the following:
-Sewing machine with a zipper and button foot
-Sewing machine bobbins
-Thread (all purpose)
-Needles (Universal 90/14, 80/12, 70/10, 65/11)
-Fabric scissors
-Seam ripper
-Fabric pins and pin cushion or magnet
-Marking pencils

Hi, there! My name is Artesia and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2012 and have loved helping my students understand the basics of sewing, explore their inner designer and overall become more confident with sewing. I went to Spelman College and earned a degree in Mathematics in 2006 but I am currently attending the Savannah College of Art and Design to earn a degree in Fashion Design. In March 2014, I was a RAW featured artist showcasing handmade accessories, pillowcases and pillows. The following month I received the Most Creative award at the EcoFab Trash Couture Recycled Runway for a garment created from everyday usable items.
