Sharon S.

Fort Worth, TX

About Sharon

I have a diverse, mixed-up, wonderful background. I have wanted to do something with music and performance since I was 3-years-old. I have been able to foster that goal through work in the professional film and television industry as well as professional theater (and no, the word is not misspelled despite what spell-check would have you believe and I would love to explain why.). However, my greatest love has always been teaching. My education includes training in theater, film, television, music, voice, and communication. I received my BA in Fine Arts and Humanities from the University of
Nebraska at Kearney and my MS in Communication Studies at Texas Christian University. Most recently I worked as the director of the performance studies program at a local charter school, using music and theater to reduce communication anxiety in students. I am a member of the the Texas Music Teachers Association and attend frequent training and events to keep my skills current. My greatest teachers, however, have always been my students!

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are as various as the students who take them. Just like no two students are alike no two lessons are either. My lessons are designed around the students goals and desires. I use modern technology as well as classical training techniques to help my students become the best that they can be. I use a variety of different curriculum depending on what best meets the needs of the individual student. Growth is a constant goal as we work together, student and teacher, to take the student from where they are to where they want to be. Lessons are full of "aha" moments as we work to not only understand the how but also the why behind everything that we learn.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Small room(10X12), piano and electric keyboard, computer, iPad, mirror, iGallop, CD/iPod Player.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect music students to have a keyboard/piano for home use as well as purchase their own books and/or sheet music. I provide computer equipment when applicable and other outreach tools.

*** Specialties ***
I use the classical approach for singing.
I teach quasi-method acting.

Sharon is awesome!

I can't say enough great things about Sharon. Her teaching style is great and she gets through to my daughter like no other instructor ever has. Emma has landed more call backs than ever before. She also had her first ever principal role with a solo singing part using an audition piece that Sharon chose and helped her prepare. Emma has improved vastly and she really enjoys her lessons with Sharon. We give her an A +++.

Ms. Sharon is an AMAZING teacher!!!

My younger siblings and I have been taking lessons with Ms. Sharon for 8 years in vocal, piano, acting, and speech. With Ms. Sharon's aid I qualified to nationals in speech, and have been in numerous plays. Ms. Sharon pushs all her students hard so they can accomplish their goals and achieve their dreams. Sometimes it we have to do some hard things but, In the end it is worth every drop of hard work! My siblings and I love Ms. Sharon and will take lessons from her for as long as we can!

TOYA N.

Dallas, TX

I have a Masters degree in Acting from the acclaimed Actors Studio Drama School in Manhattan, so I am well versed in most every acting technique; including Stanislavski, Strasberg, Meisner, Chekov, Hagen, Stella Adler, and beyond. I've taught acting to children, teens, and adults in the US and abroad since 2005 and my students are working! My main goal is to help you to develop your own set of tools for practicing the craft of acting, and to better understand your unique voice as an artist. Make sure to wear clothing you can move in during our sessions, and, most importantly, explore and just have fun!

About TOYA

I have taught acting to small children, teens, and adults in community, private, and collegiate settings. I taught acting at the legendary Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York City. My love of the arts has enabled me to study and perform in various cities throughout the US; including Los Angeles, where I studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, to Europe, Mexico, South America; then back to New York City, where I earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from the prestigious Actors Studio Drama School.

I currently work professionally as an actor, singer, and TV
and radio host. I've been fortunate enough to work in film, TV, theater, musical theater, hosting, commercials, improv, and voice-overs. I am also a vocally trained mezzo-soprano. Because I am still a working artist, I can not only teach you craft, but can assist you in making the right choices to navigate your own way in the business. I offer private coaching to actors in theater and film, and singers in the US and abroad. I would love to share my knowledge and experience with you.

*** Lesson Details ***
I offer private coaching to children, teens, adults who have an interest in acting or singing performance, and for those who simply have an interest in performing or speaking in front of others. In addition to coaching those who wish to better their skills in acting, voice and speech, and singing, I also offer coaching for non-actors; i.e., attorneys, business professionals, teachers, politicians, pageant participants, and other creatives, who want to improve their public speaking and communication skills.

John is a very grounded teacher. He helps you learn by doing, and gives you a sense of security in the process. He doesn't let your discomfort in learning cause him to stray from the purpose, and he challenges you to grow through it. He made me feel completely comfortable being myself and doing what I needed in order to learn the techniques he taught. I would highly recommend John as a teacher.

We are three lessons in, and I've come to understand more about acting and how I fit into it personally than I ever have even after several decades of participation. The lessons are useful and enjoyable, the homework is fair, and I think you should take advantage of the fact that you can just simply sign-up, pay a lil' money, and have access to such a great mentor/teacher!

Donald R.

Dallas, TX

Children and adults welcome. I provide acting coaching from ages 4-adult in acting for film, theatre, and techniques such as classical, Meisner, Method, and Stanislavsky.

About Donald

I have established myself as an accomplished actor and acting coach who has been teaching acting classes for over 10 years. As acting is an ongoing learning process, I audit the classes of the best coaches from NY to LA to bring those acting techniques to my students online as well as my in-studio classes. In addition to teaching online, I have taught in-studio classes at Kids International in Washington DC, Take 3 Talent and Product Management in NYC, and Page Parkes School of Acting in Dallas to name a few.

My approach to acting covers the entire theme of "Show Business". The "Show" is
represented by the skill training techniques involved in my training to give an actor the skills to be the best actor. The "Business" aspect reflects the more technical side of acting such as what the auditors are looking for, how to stand out on the audition, and how to carry yourself as a professional to beget more work.

My training style involves tactile, audible, and visual aspects of training to ensure maximum absorption of the material. Meanwhile, I guarantee to make it fun!

Andres V.

In this class the students will be learning the different types of acting, we will study -isms, different genres, and will perform short scenes. Pronunciation will also play a big role in this class being that is the most important thing when acting besides acting. There will be many monologues assigned to the students in order to show their progress.

About Andres

I am a High School Graduate who was in all AP classes and I have the desire to teach and educate people in different fields. Music has been a part of my life forever and I have been playing the cello for 9 years. English is my favorite subject, I love writing and reading a lot I have always been in AP Languages. I was born in Chile therefore I am also fluent in Spanish. I have been acting since I was a child and I am part of the Theatre Magnet at Richardson High School. History is my second favorite subject and I am always willing to teach it. I was Senior Captain at the Richardson High School
Swim Team and I love working out. Overall I have a passion for teaching and learning which is why I'll always be available for anyone who wants to learn any new skills or master some already worked on abilities.
