Akib A.

Jamaica, NY

About Akib

I am eager and equally interested in applying to offer my skill. With the academic and leadership qualities that you are looking for, I believe I would be able to contribute to the objectives.

I am presently enrolled in New York Institute of Technology as a junior in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and complete my bachelors by December 2015. I am thrilled to know that you are looking for a tutor and I feel that this is the perfect platform for me.
As a result of my previous work experience in the Learning Center in my college for the last couple of years, I believe I am well e
quipped with not only academic qualifications but also experienced in working in an energetic and dynamic environment. I have been also serving for a tutoring Center, Math Matters and very much familiar with the new Common Core Curriculum. I am also familiar with Regions Curriculum I have also served as a Supplemental Instructor for Physics that adds to my leadership abilities.

An opportunity to be able to work will prove to be mutually beneficial. While I will be able to gain further experience about the real-world applications of teaching, I believe that will also be a great addition to the working terms and contribute to your goals and objectives.
I am very enthusiastic about this opportunity and believe will be worthwhile for us to meet. I have enclosed my resume and would gladly answer any further. Please feel free to contact TakeLessons using the details mentioned.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Alex P.

Merrick, NY

About Alex

I have been teaching private lessons since 2001 and I am currently available to teach lessons online or in my office. As a professor , I have helped students in a number of computer science and math oriented areas including standardizes tests, as well as helping them have the confidence to overcome struggles with difficult subjects.

I believe that learning should be fun and engaging, and that no one perfect method exists to teach all students. During our lessons I try to take note of whats working and whats not, and when I find types of examples that work, I keep using them to help you acc
elerate your learning .

Where to start. Alex is a just a great all around person. He makes learning fun. As long as you put in the time and effort he will guide you through to where you need to be. Never a dull moment, as his lessons bring out the best in you. I would highly recommend going to him, as his style is very different than other tutors or professors. He encourages you to engage in what you are studying; to be proactive and animated, which ultimately leads to results, while having fun in the process. His style is the way learning in general should be. His techniques will train you to remain calm in the face of adversity. You will not regret going to Alex. Again, as long as you put in the time, he will help you get the results you want.

Rod K.

Ridgewood, NY

About Rod

I specialize in Test Prep (GRE, SAT/ACT, SHSAT, HSPT, SSAT/ISEE, etc.) and tutor a number of academic subjects including English (Reading, Vocabulary); and specific areas in Math and Science. My interests include Gifted & Talented (G&T) testing and STEM education. I enjoy tutoring both children and adults.

Each student has a unique strength and weakness profile and specific needs and objectives so I consider these important factors when planning my lessons. Thereafter, I continue to optimize my tutoring as I learn more about the student. My approach to learning is simple: practice, pra
ctice and more practice!

When I am not tutoring, I enjoy cooking and making that ordinary dish into something extraordinary by just adding that little "extra."

I have master's and bachelor's degrees in business administration and electronics engineering.

Tutoring Rate: Trial lessons 60mins but 90mins is recommended. Thereafter, (1) Academics subjects = 90mins and (2) Test Prep = 120mins with 30min increments in either case. There is a travel fee for (1) in-home tutoring but waived for (2). Other arrangements possible on a case-by-case basis.

Rod was extremely professional and put my son at ease while practicing/studying for G&T test. My son never complained, and actually looked forward to sessions, as Rod always tried his best to make them fun and age appropriate. Rod was very good at identifying his strengths and areas for improvement and came with strategies to improve the score. Not only did my son pass the test, but he scored 98 percentile, which means that we are eligible to apply to citywide programs.I would recommend Rod to anyone. Needless to say, this was a very positive experience.
