My son has been learning piano with Mr. Allen for about two months. My son loves his piano class. Mr. Allen is very patient and encouraging with kids. He knows how to correct kids' mistakes without hurting their feelings and challenge them properly so they can make progress. He understands kids' mind very well. We were very glad that we chose Mr. Allen as our piano teacher.

A voice is as unique as a thumbprint! My young singers learn how to use their developing voices in a healthful way to bring out their own beautiful, vibrant sound. We explore pieces that are appropriate to their level of development across genres (folk, musical theater, classical, Christian, and more). We also develop their music literacy and basic keyboard skills to give them the tools to learn music on their own. We also learn about audition and performance etiquette, acting, and stage movement and presence.

About Lauren

Hello! My name is Lauren Spavelko, and I am excited to bring out the musician in you!

Whether you're searching for yourself or your child, I would love to invite you to my beautiful creative space and help you meet your musical goals.

I focus on developing true artistry with my students and giving them the fundamental tools to be able to play and write various styles of music including classical, musical theater, folk, contemporary, Christian, and more.

We play from the very first lesson and learn other concepts such as music theory, literacy, and technique in subsequent lessons.

My students are involved in school ensembles, church choirs, community choirs, community and children's theater, and district contests. I support and seek out these opportunities according to their interests.

Please send me a note! I can't wait to get started.

Having the ability to sing can be a talent that comes easy for some and some may study and learn it, but it is an attainable goal for anyone.

About Betsy

I graduated cum laude with a bachelors degree in Vocal Performance from Youngstown State University. I have been teaching since 1995. My students are successful opera singers, choir singers, rock singers and backup vocalists. I have sung for Orlando Opera, Vaudvillities, and Opera Project Columbus. I had tried to take lessons years ago, but was really disappointed in the teacher for not doing much more than having me warm up, then sing a song over and over, then trying to encourage me to go out and sing karaoke as homework between lessons. Betsy understood my goals. She gave me vocal exercises to do as homework and explained WHY I would want to do these exercises. She is able to teach a range of styles, and was very informative when I had questions.
I would have given her 5 stars except that I need to work on confidence before letting other people hear me sing. The reason I wanted a local instead of online teacher was so that I would be out of my house so my own family couldn't even hear me. However, her family was home and sitting in the next room. This made it difficult for me to sing as loud as I needed to for hitting the high notes until well into the lesson when she was able to tell me that my pitch match was good.

Sara Marie B.

Powell, OH

My voice students learn to listen to themselves and self-correct, read music as a vocalist, improve tone and pitch, breathe correctly, sing in a healthy way and have fun! I am able to work with a variety of musical styles, including Broadway/theatre, classical/opera, jazz, country and pop/R&B. I prefer not to work with children younger than 6yo, but also work with adults. Whether this is for fun or so that you can audition for an upcoming part, our lessons will be tailored to meet your goals!

About Sara Marie

Sara Marie Brenner has been teaching since 1992. She began teaching private piano lessons in her parents' living room on the grand piano she now has in her home today. As a talented child musician, her parents gave up their home for 30-40 hours each week as Mrs. Brenner grew her studio to 60-70 weekly students during her high school years.

Following high school, Mrs. Brenner launched, grew, operated and later sold a music lessons company that employed dozens of teachers. She taught lessons herself, trained teachers, wrote curriculum, and also tutored academic subjects. After selling the com
pany in 2012, Mrs. Brenner began a home music and academics studio.

In 2015, Mrs. Brenner took time off from teaching to focus on her MBA and family business. She graduated with a 4.0 GPA and induction into the Delta Mu Delta business honor society at Liberty University. Now, she is completing a post-masters degree as an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) in Curriculum & Instruction, secondary education, with a music endorsement at Liberty University. After truly missing teaching and feeling called to resume working with students, she has re-opened her music and academics studio, and is building her clientele once again. Teaching has been Mrs. Brenner's life's work, and what she loves to do.

Mrs. Brenner tutors various subjects, as well. Her interest in helping some of her students led her to earn a certificate in teaching students with reading difficulties from The University of London (England), in conjunction with Dyslexia International. Today, she tutors students in a variety subjects, including math, English, reading, writing, language arts, history, government, speech, and more. Mrs. Brenner has worked with dyslexic, autistic, homeschooled and gifted students, and welcomes them all to her studio.

Mrs. Brenner has earned Kodaly 1 certification at the Capital University Conservatory of Music, and has trained in Suzuki piano with Mary Craig Powell through the Suzuki Association of the Americas. From ages 3-8, Mrs. Brenner began her piano studies in a strictly Suzuki-based piano studio. From ages 8-19, she studied with Professor JoAnn Hopper at Ohio Wesleyan University, then Dr. Gren at The Ohio State University. She has accompanied for countless soloists, choirs, musicals and stage productions, including in schools, churches and with professional orchestras.

I am so glad we found such a great teacher for my 5 year old girl! I loved her lesson and so did Ava. Ava had such a good time that she kept practicing once she got home. It was a fun filled lesson and she loved it! We are so lucky to have found Mrs. Brenner! Looking forward to many months ahead!
