I have been performing on the horn for 15 years now. In 2017 I graduated from UCLA with my Masters degree in French horn performance. In 2010, I graduated from Chapman University with my music education and music performance degree on French horn. I enjoy helping other French hornist master this instrument and hope they find the love and fun in playing this beast of an instrument!
About Beckie
My name is Beckie and I have played music for all of my life. I play and teach many different instruments such as the French horn, trumpet, piano, saxophone, mandolin, guitar, and voice.
In 2017, I graduated from UCLA with my Masters in Music on French horn. In 2010, I graduated from Chapman University with two degrees in music- music performance on French horn and music education.
My first job was as at a Montessori Academy elementary school, where I was the brass coach for 3 years. This is where I fell in love with teaching. I have been teaching privately for 15 years now and love the one-on-one attention that I can give the students.
I have worked with many great organizations like the Los Angeles Philharmonic and various music studios around Los Angeles.
I currently am a freelance musician, Elementary school music
I look forward to working with you or your child in helping to start or continue a musical instrument!
*** Lesson Details ***
When I teach lessons, I like to check in with the student to see how their day was and how practicing throughout the week went. I am very patient and will teach at the student's pace. I expect the student to practice during the week, even if for just 10 minutes a day. I will always work with a student as long as it takes to have them understand what is difficult for them musically.
For music, I try to find free options but books may be a better option. When we choose a book to play out of, I like to choose a book together so that the parent and the child are happy about the selection. Books vary based on what the needs are for each student. Books are to be purchased by the parent.
I usually play my instruments with the students, but being a freelance musician, I may need to save my chops for an upcoming gig. Not always, but happens from time to time :)
I also have a 24-hour cancellation/lesson change policy. If you are late for your lesson, I will try to accommodate the time but may have students or rehearsals afterward so it will not always be a guarantee. If you are going to be late, please text me BEFORE the scheduled lesson. Lessons are to be every week as I DO NOT teach bi-weekly lessons.
*** Studio Equipment ***
Lesson space is in my home w/ seating for parents and music stand for students. I also have a cat and a dog, so if you are allergic, please let me know! The dog and the cat are put away for the lessons as to not distract either one of us! They are pretty cute!
*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to provide the music books and their own instruments and music stand.
*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical genres of playing but I am able to teach all different styles of music.

About William
*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are geared towards a set of goals that are created between the student's wants and my expectations for them to be successful at what the student wants to achieve. For each student, I use a different set of pedagogical tools designed to get them to the goals they want. The main goal I have for all my students is that their fundamentals on their instrument will be at the level that they can complete their goals with ease. Over their time with me, they will have the skills to coach themselves when they practice and tackle any music they come across.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect them to provide and music stand and their music. These are both things that they need to have at their home for practice.
*** Specialties ***
I teach and perform both jazz and classical music. Almost any style that uses a trombone or brass instruments, I have performed in and have a strong foundation in.

Make the french horn sing as we work on your all-region material, your college audition work, or your festival music. We will also work on tone development, range, and finger technique.
About Matthew
June 2012 - June 2015 I was the head band director of Waldron High School in Waldron, AR. We won several awards through our marching and concert band program. I also ran after school lessons in which many students made our region honor band.
June 2015 - Present
I am currently the head director at Trinity Junior High in Fort Smith. I run a 7-9 band program that includes both marching and concert band seasons. Our student involvement is quite high as our band program serves about 50% of our total student population (about 90 kids served daily on all wind instruments). My band here has received many superior ratings, and many students make our region honor group, and go on to excel in high school band programs in our area.

I am a certified teacher with a bachelor’s degree in music education, and I am also working towards my master’s degree in horn performance. Whether you’re wanting to take lessons for school, as a hobby, or anything in between, I will create lessons that are catered specifically to you and your goals. I have been teaching private lessons for 5 years, and it is one of my favorite things to do! I love teaching one-on-one and being able to see (and hear) my students grow.
I also have professional performance experience, some of which includes playing for Disneyland in California, marching with the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, and subbing in professional orchestras. Part of what I teach my students who are looking to further their musical experiences is how to prepare for auditions and guidance on how to stand out amongst many other applicants. I also stay up-to-date on the many musical opportunities that surround us, both in the Denver area and across the world, so that I can ...
About Devlin
I have performed in over 20 states as well as Northern Ireland, England, and Germany. The next place on my list is Switzerland! I love to mentor students who aspire to share the gift of music with others. Music is one of the most rewarding professions and hobbies, and I would be happy to help you both improve your skills and find opportunities to further your musical experiences. In the end, it is all about becoming your best musician.
Some of my interests outside of music include animals, traveling

I cater the way I teach to every individual student’s needs and goals and love working with people to help them learn more about music. Along with learning the French Horn, I am able to teach music reading as well as theory, and sight-reading skills. I emphasize posture, breathing, and self-care as part of the musical learning process. I look forward to meeting you!!
