Hello, My name is Laurie C. I am a Vocal Performance Major at the University of South Florida. I have over ten years of vocal performance and Saxophone experience. I also have three years of piano training in college that allows me to teach beginner piano. For the last three years I have been under the instruction of Dr. Kyoung Cho, who is a world renowned Korean-Canadian lyric soprano and Dr. Warren Jaworski who is currently the Coordinator of the Voice Area in the School of Music at USF. I was also the head voice coach at Rockatar Academy and Studios in Westchase. I would love to share my experience with new students. You will learn different techniques, styles, stage presence, confidence and music theory.

Students start with the Rubank book for Saxophone. Later we will add the Universal Sax method and move all the way up to Ferling Studies, along the way we learn to sight read and our scales. We work on both classical Sax solos and on jazz, learning to improv.

I am an educator with a unique background combining the technical knowledge and expertise of a formally trained educator with the research and linguistic aptitude of a trained theologian/ pastor. I graduated from Kent State University in 2003 with a Bachelors of Science in Education. In 2009 I graduated from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary with a Master's of Divinity (Pastoral Theology). I have been teaching full time since 2008 and I have also served as a supply pastor during that time. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to begin playing your first 5 notes and as time goes on you'll be able to fun songs. I specialize in classical, Jazz, Rock, and Klezmer style music, and I typically use the Rubank Method books. I also provide assistance in reed adjustment. I place a strong emphasis on reading, using the proper technique and rhythm and I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!
