About Danielle

I have been taking the world by surprise since the age of 4. I began studying at Queens College at 6 years old and was a recital pianist by the age of 12. Emily H. Middletown, CT

I have been teaching voice for about 5 years now, and am an active performer myself in music theatre and opera. In lessons I work with my students on singing without counterproductive tension and learning to use their breath to support the sound in a way that’s healthy and will keep them singing their whole lives. I create a safe, supportive atmosphere where the student is comfortable to experiment, because I know from experience that is how real learning and expression happens. My performing experience and education allow me to also coach my students in musicality, style, and diction as well so they have all the tools to be elegant, communicative singers. I not only help the students understand what’s going on physically with their body and their instrument, but also give them ideas for ways to practice what they’re learning so they can be their own best teacher in between lessons. I am able to record lessons for my students so they can listen back and hear how the exercises we do in

About Emily

Singing and playing piano have always been a huge part of my life. I love to perform everything from opera and sacred music to music theater and jazz, and have been performing since I was very young. I earned my Bachelor’s of Music in vocal performance from DePaul University School of Music in Chicago. It was there that I fell in love with teaching, when I taught my first student as part of a course in vocal pedagogy. Since then I have built my studio to over 20 voice and piano students here in NY and CT. It has been thrilling to see all the progress they've made! I am currently pursuing a Masters of Music at Brooklyn College, where the schedule still allows me to teach my students. I have had several excellent and truly inspiring teachers myself with different teaching styles, and so

Emily knows her stuff!

I was impressed with how thorough Emily's singing lessons were. She explains how to breathe properly and why it's so important for vocal production. Her training space is comfortable and homey. I hope to take more lessons from her in the future.

Patricia is an AMAZING teacher.

Personality: She is very welcoming, warm, funny and just a positive person to be around which bodes very well when it comes to learning and stepping outside of your comfort zone.

Knowledge: Just by looking at her credentials you know that she has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to music. However, her greatest gift is being able to relay all of that information to someone who may not have a very strong musical background. She is also very adept at making connections making the learning process fun and understandable.

Lessons: I have been taking lessons with Patricia for months now for voice. The greatest part of the lessons are that she does not only focus on improving your voice on a technical level. She helps with mental preparation, ear training, music theory and great deal of other things which helps students to become more well rounded. I believe this also helps students to grow in their area of study much faster.

Misc: Patricia greatly encourages her students to perform. If you are not comfortable going to an open mic, Patricia hosts a performance event for her students. This provides a safe and secure environment for students to express themselves an apply what they have learned in lessons.

I recently performed and while nervous the mental preparation that I described above helped me to "put on a show". I will continue taking lessons with Patricia and I am grateful for everything I have learned and experience in my time.

Patricia is an excellent teacher for all levels. I have worked with her teaching three year old beginner drum group classes, all the way to masterclasses for college students at CUNY on techniques to use when improvising in complex time signatures. She can teach anyone! Patricia makes the lessons fun all the while you gain inspiration. I also really enjoyed the concert she hosted for her students in the Village. Sign up, you won't be disappointed.

Me being a contemporary vocalist(pop/r&b) with previous instruction, Cindy has been a much needed breath of fresh air. I've trained with other instructors and she is by far one of my favorites. They say a great singer is a great listener and Cindy proves this theory by attentively listening to your concerns and providing you with practical solutions. Her warm, energetic and passionate personality helps you feel more comfortable with trying new techniques without feeling embarrassed.

I studied classical technique with previous instructors and I found that it wasn't very effective for my style. Cindy immediately noticed this and has began to re-work my technique with challenging exercises that I can feel and HEAR the results from during studio sessions and live performances...which is where it counts honestly, and that makes me very happy.

I love to constantly push myself to be better and I feel like Cindy understands exactly how to do that, which is why I feel confident in my decision of choosing her. I would definitely recommend her with glowing stars to any one in any style that is in search of an excellent teacher.

The reason anyone takes singing lessons is to improve, to free the potential of your whole voice. Taylor can help you to do that. He has a depth of knowledge combined with a creative array of exercises to relieve your limiting vocal habits. Taylor's approach is different from teachers who treat all voice difficulties with the same method. He seems to intuitively key into your problem areas and varies his exercises to specifically address them. His lessons are focused, lively and fun. And personally, Taylor is very kind, energetic, and open. I always leave my lessons in a more positive frame of mind. Frankly, if you're serious about fixing those vocal faults and want steady improvement in your singing, you can't do better than Taylor.

Taylor is a PHENOMENAL teacher. His approach is very technical and anatomical - perfect for anyone with dance/yoga/movement backgrounds. He keeps things moving at a quick pace, pointing out just enough to be helpful without overloading you on too much information to keep track of. He's incredibly encouraging, honest, gentle, and fun to be around. I LOVE singing with Taylor and learned more about my voice in an hour than I ever thought I would be able to.

My child has been taking piano lessons with Matthew for over five years (pre-teen to teen). I myself took a few lessons with Matthew, until my schedule no longer allowed for the continuation of those lessons. He is extremely talented and patient. Most importantly, he is capable of teaching people to play a wide variety of piano music. Not everyone can teach what they know. I highly recommend Matthew as an instructor for you or your family.
