For the young, old, and everyone in between, the ukelele is a phenomenal instrument. Music fundamentals can be taught on the ukelele in a way to easily translate over to other instruments. Very young kids interested in guitar are often recommended to learn the ukelele first and when they are older transition to the guitar (the technique and method is very similar).

Everything a music teacher should be

My worst nightmare was that taking guitar lessons as an adult would be similar to my forced and short-lived piano lessons as a youth. Mark quickly set my fears aside the first lesson by outlining what I would need to learn to reach my goals. He is very adaptive to the student based on music preferences and skill progression. Each week we focus on progressively harder songs.

Aside from guitar knowledge and teaching skills, Mark is also very flexible around your schedule. He really makes an effort to communicate and to reschedule when needed.

I'd recommend Mark to anyone looking for guitar lessons. I feel lucky to have found Mark as a teacher.

The Ukulele is in a world of it's own! It's easily portable and you can pull it out to jam or play as you sing just about anytime. It's an instrument that has a unique love from all of it's players, and once you learn how to play (in no time!) I'm sure you'll develop the same passion for the Uke!

We'll learn basic chords and strumming techniques as well as advanced fingerpicking, melody playing and the theory to help you choose chords that really fit the mood you're trying to create.

I teach Ukulele in a way that allows the student to cross over easily to the guitar. This can be especially helpful if the student is too young to start guitar but still want to pick up an instrument. Ukulele is a great way to prepare for guitar.

Byron is a great guitar teacher. He has an obvious deep musical background. He can create tabs by ear and tailor to the level of the student. Keeps it interesting by using music that the student likes. Very happy with him as a teacher.

My son has made such great progress under Byron's instruction. He has a good balance of teaching strong technique while keeping it fun. He teaches a broad spectrum of songs that my son gets to choose instead of just going through a book. I would highly recommend Byron as a guitar instructor.

The ukulele is an extremely fun and easy instrument to pick up, especially for kids! Many of the techniques learned can be transferred over to the guitar, bass, or even piano and violin. My teaching style is entirely student-oriented, and I adapt my material based on what you want to learn. I often use my music theory background as a supplement, and occasionally I will give handouts and homework. Students will need their own instrument and gear, and a notebook or binder!
