I have been playing ukulele for over 10 years and play it professionally on almost a daily basis. I'm extremely knowledgeable in this area of expertise and I'd love to help you from tip to tail, including selecting a ukulele that is perfect for you and in your budget, how to tune, hold, and strum the ukulele, how to make chords, choose songs that are perfect for you, do a few fancy tricks, transport, care for and integrate the ukulele into your life. I love playing the ukulele so much and I know that you will, too!

Jessica is upbeat and articulate! Her teaching space has an inviting vibe and is full of useful musical resources. I have previous experience playing other instruments, and Jessica was quickly able to craft a game plan to get me started with guitar technique and finger patterns in a very efficient manner. I would highly recommend her to prospective students of all ages and experience levels!

About Ruben

Over the course of my musical career, I have had the opportunity to learn from many musicians. From University Professors to Street Corner Musicians, I have gathered much knowledge on how to play music. Applying that knowledge to my guitar playing has opened up many doors of opportunity and has made my life very interesting. One of my talents is to take complicated ideas and convey them in easy to understand ideas for my students. I now wish to share all my knowledge and experiences with you to enjoy a life of music. Students of mine have been able to create their own music to record and perform. Ensembles that I have directed have performed at many local venues. I have also invited students to join me at my performances to help them become more confident in their playing. I have ...

My son attended an ukulele camp last summer and loved it. It took me several months to find an instructor and we are thrilled to have found Ruben. My son is 8 years old and absolutely loves going to class. He has learned a lot in the past month and we are looking forward to our future lessons.

Excellent

Ruben has been an excellent instructor. Very patient and very knowledgeable. He is also flexible in that he allows me to "dabble" in various areas of instruction. He provides excellent suggestions that can be used outside of the class room environment. So far all suggestions have been very helpful in advancing my progress. I highly recommend!

Great Teacher, Great Learning Environment

I've dabbled and noodled around playing guitar for about 10 years but never took it seriously. I still don't want to take it seriously but Ruben is helping me get over some learning humps that have always overwhelmed me in the past. Patient and very knowledgeable which is suiting my learning style very well. I would highly recommend.

About Jesse

My Background I've been playing with classical ensembles and rock bands since 2001. Even though I started on classical trombone and rock guitar, I have come to expand my repertoire to a variety of instruments and genres. During my time in college I performed with the University choir, orchestra, and band. I also have organized, wrote/arranged for, and performed with a variety of bands in my home state of New Mexico, as well as Japan, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Since 2006 I have been an active teacher. This profession has taken me everywhere from working with classical guitar classes in New Mexico high schools to Elementary students in Japan to a variety of private students of various musical instruments and genres everywhere I've been. Since relocating to the Bay Area in ...

Jesse gave me a great run-down on what he was working with my son on his lessons and my son was quite pleased with his lessons. Unfortunately even this short period of time, his workload at school prevented him from practicing enough.

About Richard

I started taking piano lessons at the ripe age of 4, but I quickly found my calling on the guitar. At the age of 20, and with 13 years of playing experience, I graduated from the Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery (guitar building), after building both an acoustic and an electric guitar and receiving repair certification from Fender. I later completed my Bachelor’s Degree of Music in the field of classical guitar performance, at ASU in 2007. During this time I expanded to other instruments such as the Ukulele, Banjo, Mandolin, Dulcimer and Bass Guitar. I am involved with a number of extra musical activities that are available for you. First, I am part of a weekly jam session where my students meet and jam on a rotation with other music students in the phoenix area (drummers, singers, ...

I have taught all levels of uke - and all types...including baritone and tenor. wow - I've played uke for 20 years - and all of a sudden I woke up one day a few years a go and it was popular again!

I read, write, and play all styles and I focus on teaching the student fundamentals that work in all styles of music ....AND I get them going on the style they are interested in - pop, rock, country, folk, etc. I have spent my entire life in the music industry and I can show you how to use what I teach to apply to the real world. I have also been a successful songwriter and I can work with students to learn about song structure and song writing. I am also good at preparing students for college music classes. *** Lesson Details *** I like to break it down into small steps and accomplish them, then move on to the next. I have had the opportunity to really stretch the limits of the ukulele because of the classes I teach with the instrument. In addition to the typical strum-along style of Uke playing, I can teach the Ukulele in a great deal of styles and using a great number of techniques.

About Jared

I have been happily playing music for over half of my life and it has always been the light in my day. Now it is my hope to shed that same light onto you or your child. I am a very friendly and fun teacher with a great deal of professionalism and patience, even more importantly I love teaching and music with a passion. I have been playing an instrument since the 4th grade (cello) and, as I learned how music works, was slowly able to pick-up a greater variety instruments with an increasing degree of ease. In high school, I decided to pick-up the guitar just to "have fun and rock out". I joined a band, played in the high school orchestra, joined the high school jazz band and began to practice songwriting and cover songs. Still, it was not until after I took my first class on music theory
