Air + Vibration = Sound

This formula will be the foundation for all that we do in our lessons, and it is easy to learn. Once it is understood and developed, it will then be mastered. Our lessons will focus on striving for excellent technique while developing a beautiful sound.

David (11) has been working with Jeremy for a while now and he's had some rocky patches (getting braces and worse, getting an expander!) but Jeremy was there encouraging David the whole way and sure enough, you can play the trumpet with all that extra metal in your mouth after all!

David also has Brass at school but prefers his sessions with Jeremy where they are centered around David's specific needs and current goals. We have seen such an improvement in both David's ability and confidence which translates directly into more enjoyment playing his chosen instrument, the trumpet.

Great lesson. I actually wrote a review eariler as I didn't realize I'd be prompted by take lessons to post after the lesson so I don't want to write up the same things. I would like to point out that my easily stressed son isn't very stressed about getting braces now that he has Jeremy's support and experience to fall back on.

My son, 9, likes to learn from Mack - my son remembers what Mack told him to do and practice. This is quite a surprise for me considering how he dislikes teachers in general...

I had the pleasure of meeting and learning the trumpet with Mack. I must say for the small amount of time we had it was awesome.

Mr. West is an amazing teacher! He helps you figure out your notes, pieces, scales, etc., etc., and even takes the time to write out music sheets! I look forward to every lesson with him! -Spring Z. (Student)

I am really pleased with Tom's approach and simplification of cello basics others have made so complex! The instruction was easy to follow leaving me with the ability to play 3 scales the first lesson (with practice of course). I felt like there was hope for someone like me taking up cello so much later in life.

It seemed like a great first lesson. My son was comfortable and got directly to learning. We are confident that Mr. West will have him caught up with the rest of the 7th grade band in no time!

Thanks so much! We are here on vacation and appreciate the availability of Bill. My daughter has a region audition when we get back home and she needed help with her scales.

I have been playing the tuba for 15 years! During this time, I competed in the Leonard Falcone Tuba and Euphonium Festival solo competition and the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference solo and quartet competitions several times. I also won a brass scholarship competition--the Paul I. Willwerth Brass Scholarship Competition--during my undergraduate studies, and have taken the time to solidify what is of the utmost importance to me as a musician, which is--not surprisingly--to make music!

I'm very happy with Daniel. My son enjoyed playing with him and is looking forward to the next lesson. He was not excited initially when I told him he was going to have lessons, but Dan won him over in short order.

Dan has a keen ear and gives clear instructions. He is personable and easy to talk to. I recommend him as a teacher.

I took tuba lessons in college. In my lessons, my students will do some breathing exercises to help to expand their lung capacity. :) My beginning tuba students will learn tuba playing basics, care, as well as how to read notes of the bass clef. My students will also be expected to learn the major scales. Basic music theory will also be taught (time signatures, note durations, etc.). Students will learn technical skills as well as musical skills in a comfortable, fun environment. :)

Why TakeLessons?

Tuba Lessons

Would you like to experience playing an instrument with a sound so big and deep that everyone will be sure to pay attention to you? If so, you should try playing the tuba. As you may or may not know, the tuba is the largest and lowest pitched instrument among the brass wind family. It may seem to be an uncommon instrument to play, especially in popular music, however the tuba has been widely employed in creating the distinct sound of drum and bugle corps, drum and brass corps, marching bands, concert bands, and jazz bands. The tuba can be somewhat difficult to play due to its size and the manner in which its sound is produced, but luckily tuba lessons exist so you can learn the knowledge required to properly play the instrument. By taking tuba lessons with us, you will learn the basic techniques required to excel with this baroque trumpet-resembling instrument.
