Are you just driven to express yourself with song?
Well, for years I have helped to get people's songs out of their heads and into the world. We help you with form, syntax, lyrics, melody, hooks, and on and on.

For years I have helped folks to protect their intellectual property. We will help you copyright your songs using ECO the Electronic Copyright Office of the Library of Congress. I will never make any attempt to ensnare your copyrights.

So let's do a song and see if we're a good fit! We can record a working recording of it the first day you bring it in!

An integrated approach:
Music almost always involves several skills. Below are some of the complementary skills that I can help you with.

In my Semper Method, we always address several of them at every session. For example, we record, sing and play all the time. To sing you should be able to pick out intervals at the piano, or better yet, accompany yourself and everyone needs some music theory. So it really is all ...

I've loved and played music (accordion and piano) my entire life, but have always been a very technical player. Learn the notes, measure by measure, play the song. Randy has taught me how to actually "play" and "understand" music in a way I never have before. He teaches the fundamentals, but in a way that is inspiring and fun. I wish I would have met Randy years ago. I might have been a musician instead of a sales guy!

I have always loved to sing but other than some choir classes in middle and high school, I never had any formal training. I always said "someday I would love to take singing lessons". Last May, my husband bought me singing lessons with Randy as a Mother's Day gift. It's November and I am still doing it. I briefly looked over the other reviews and would absolutely agree with all the other comments about Randy's patience, humor and flexibility. He is very understanding about my limited time to practice outside of lessons and has a great balance of knowing when to push a little more and when to let me find my own way. Ultimately, though, I keep going because even though I may come into a session with the weight of the world on my shoulders, I always leave feeling lighter. And that has been a true gift for me both from my husband and from Randy.

I was tasked with singing in a community theater production; I had never sung before any audience, nor had I ever received any musical training. I sought Randy's help. In our first lesson he gave me half of what I needed -- confidence. In subsequent lessons he taught me some theory, blues form, how to sing with accompaniment, and how to believe in myself as a singer. His congenial, helpful, FUN approach to teaching is delightful. I would recommend him highly.

Mark is an excellent voice coach! He has been very helpful in teaching me breathing techniques, voice health, understanding my vocal range and how to improve my range. He has made me feel more confident in my abilities and I am looking forward to future lessons.

Thanks Mark!

Michael was very patient and not only gave me a bagpipe lesson but walked me through the use on my computer. We even had to use the telephone for voice communication. I think there is no problem he cannot over come.

I encourage all students to try writing music or at least coming up with their own basic ideas. I will then work with the student's ideas to help them learn how to develop an initial idea into a large more complete musical form. If the student is able to write more complete songs I will coach them in techniques to improve the structure, harmony and melody of their work. I try to demonstrate ways that they can improve their writing without simply rewriting their ideas for them. For all of this I draw on my many years of experience as a composer. I try to guide the student towards developing a process of writing music that works for them. My main goal is to help them to grow into their own musical voice rather than to simply do what I suggest.

Dennis is the fourth guitar teacher I have had over the past 8 or so years. As a casual guitar player signing up for Dennis' lessons, I simply wanted to enjoy playing the instrument while also improving my technique. Having taken lessons with him for about a year now, I can confidently say that both of these goals have been fulfilled. My technique has definitely improved with Dennis more so than it had with any of my past teachers. Not only is he a good teacher, but he is also just an all around chill, good guy. I always look forward to my weekly lesson.

After the first lesson I can tell this is going to go great! Dennis is very personable and easy to talk to, and communicate with. It is immediately apparent that he has a wealth of knowledge not just about guitar, but about music theory in general and I am so excited for what I will learn!

Also, he has a lovely home and his wife is so nice :) I felt right at home.

I definitely recommend Dennis to anyone who is considering lessons.

I've been writing rock songs for 14 years and have played in numerous bands during that time. I can help guide you through many of the trappings that come with writing songs, such as: writing music that strengthens the song not your ego, creating a your own style, avoiding repetition in form, applying advanced harmony to melody, using odd time signatures, and a variety of other options to make your music really stand out.
