Regular lessons are half an hour long. An hour per week is usually required for the student that is studying for competitions or performance. Day times and evenings are available.

Our instruction area is spot on. The bright and large studio provides an exceptional learning environment and contains amplifiers, acoustic, electric and bass guitars. We have the latest technology in keyboards, and the use of drum machines makes the lesson more fun utilizing the feel of being in a band. We are conveniently located just off Hampden Ave. and Tower Rd.

The teaching style is laid back and comfortable. Focus is on teaching students how to teach themselves
The basics: music theory, music reading, chords, chord progressions, melody, harmony, technique etc...

This is my grandson's first 3 months with Kevin.Kevin is very laid-back and his cool looks makes my pre-teen grandson want to learn from him, which is important. Sometimes, Kevin's critique is unclear and his verbal follow up instructions don't match his written instructions. All and all, he might be prefect for my grandson, who is also very laid-back. Two laid-back peolple might not be a good combination. It could be that my grandson would learn more from someone who is a little more structured. I thought about trying a different teacher but my grandson seems to like Kevin and he is learning to play, which is the bottom line. So, we will stick with Kevin for now.

David F. Nashville, TN

About David

Since beginning his teaching career in 1974 David has taught 7000 people how to play guitar! Some aspiring only to play at home for fun and others to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. David F. has also taught advanced guitar and music theory to several professional musicians who already play other instruments fluently including Oscar nominee Scott Rogness, who co-wrote and performed the songs featured in the movie That Thing You Do. Scott had this to say about his study with David: "I studied with David for about 8 months. Although proficient on keyboards, a singer and songwriter; I had never learned the guitar. I knew a lot about the guitar by osmosis, but technically was green. David let me look at the guitar in a whole new way, using infinite variations on basic

I have increased my lesson frequency to two one-hour sessions per week simply because of my progress under David's direction. After only three months of weekly lessons, I can now read music and play while reading. David has introduced me to effective melodic soloing, has significantly improved my understanding of barre chords up and down the fretboard, and has convinced me to abandon "guitaristic" thinking in favor of really understanding the potential of the guitar beyond shape memorization.

For those players serious about music, who are willing to devote the time and attention required to improve, and who appreciate not only learning to play guitar but the theory and history behind the music, David is your man. I have taken lessons in the past, usually consisting of a teacher asking what riffs I wanted to work on that day. Sound familiar? Not David. Within the first two weeks, he has me focused on plucking the strings with more feel, using a pick and fingers simultaneously with my right hand, practicing scales to the tempo of a metronome while using the forwards and backwards technique, etc. He has convinced me that I can become as accomplished a player as I put my mind and heart to. His mantra is to work towards playing at the speed of thought, which, for the first time in my life, looks to be a possibility with time. Thank you, David.

So glad I found Nico! He is a focused and encouraging teacher. He listened carefully to my goals when I first started a few months ago and I feel like I am reaching them and understanding more with each lesson. He helps provide the structure to keep me on-track while still being flexible and open to what I want to learn and accomplish.

I always feel after class that I got a first rate lesson...

Nico is an awesome and thoughtful teacher! I have been taking lessons with Nico now for over 2 ½ years. My family and friends, at gatherings and parties (which I LOVE performing!) have seen a great improvement in my playing. Prompt and always ready to give the best guitar lessons, Nico is very knowledgeable about the guitar and his lessons are always interesting and tailored to my needs. I always feel after class that I got a first rate lesson telling myself, “Man! That was worth the drive!” (I’m driving from the Bronx!) I’ve improved a hundred fold on my playing because Nico knows exactly how to guide me into becoming a better and knowledgeable player. I’ve been playing guitar on and off for over 35 years and what Nico has done for me is he has “unstuck” me from my much dreaded guitar-stagnation to now creating great music. Nico has helped unlock my abilities and now I’m confident enough to play with a band or even do a solo act! Highly recommended!
