I have played keyboard myself since the age of 7, and have played professionally for the past 40 years.

About Rob
Originally from Chicago, I attended Chicago Musical College for 2 years before moving to Calif. and receiving my B.A. in music from Cal. State Northridge. I also have an M.A. in Education from there. I have been a band director in public schools for over 40 years. My bands have won over 50 1st place awards in music competitions. I have been playing keyboard professionally since the age of 14. I truly enjoy working with both kids and adults on a one on one basis, and provide a relaxed and friendly, yet goal-oriented experience.

*** Lesson Details ***
In each lesson, students will work on te
chnique, music theory, and learn pieces (both from the method book and from supplementary material). I choose material for each student to use based on age, ability, and interest. I don't use a "one size fits all" curriculum. Although lessons are relaxed, I do expect students to do their part and work on the assigned materials at home. In addition,I enjoy playing along with students as soon as possible.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music Room: upright piano, chair, sports memorabilia, room for parents to sit in on lesson

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect students to provide instrument (except piano) and music (which I would select)

*** Specialties ***
Can teach any school band instrument and keyboard

So kind and patient. My son is an expert at veering off course and Rob just kept him right back in the music lane. Brought him to the basics and my son loved the lesson! Thank you Rob!

I am coming right along in my lessons, making progress every week. It's due to Rob's approach, he's very easy to sit with and very easy going. He does a recital twice a year and I was very impressed with the rapport he has with his students and his program. Although I was very nervous about performing, it was the best thing I have done.

Piano is my main instrument and the one I enjoy teaching the most. I think it is approachable, versatile, and immensely rewarding. I recommend piano lessons to anyone with an interest in music, as it is an amazing tool and perfect foundation for studying music.

IMPORTANT NOTE: My availability is very limited right now due to the amount of students I have, however please don't hesitate to message me requesting specific times that are currently unavailable -- I can often shuffle things around to accommodate different scheduling needs.

About Christopher
www.pianomancan.com

My name is Christopher, or Chris for short. I am a composer, arranger, pianist, vocalist, and private tutor. I have taught private lessons in classical and contemporary piano performance, vocal performance, guitar performance, music theory, and musicianship to local students for the past 10 years. I currently have 36 weekly students all over Ventura County. I attended CSUN'€™s school of music where I received my Bachelor'€™s of Music in Music Composition. My other experience includes teaching at 2 different music studios (Perry Music Studios and Brookyln's Conservatory of
Music), teaching Confirmation classes to teenagers at St. Jude'€™s Catholic Church, and teaching English to Japanese high school students through the Rotary Youth Exchange Program.

My philosophy when it comes to doing anything with music is that it should be fun! Whether you're practicing a piece, playing with a band, writing something new, or even learning music theory, music is primarily about enjoying yourself and the others around you.

The best way to ensure that you enjoy yourself is to learn what you want to learn and play what you want to play. In addition to a standard curriculum, I want you to tell me what kind of music you're interested in and what kind of pieces you want to play! Do you love classic rock? Do you love pop? Blues? Jazz? Folk tunes? Opera? Or maybe you're a fan of the classical masters? Whatever the case may be, my number one goal is to make sure you're having fun while you develop your new talents.

I'm comfortable teaching students as young as 7 years of age, although I can teach even younger if they are especially well-behaved.

I took piano lessons for a year when I was around 9 years old and because my instructor, who was my Dad, was a terrible teacher I hated it.

I am now over 70 years young and have been taking piano lessons from Christopher Cohen for two years. He has excellent teaching skills and is just a wonderful teacher and person. He is patient with me (a slower learner) and encourages me to choose special pieces I want to include in my lessons.

Because of Christopher excellent teaching skills I am now enjoying the piano and eagerly looking forward to each session. Even my dog appreciates the piano and she never misses any of our lessons.

Thanks Christopher!

My son didn't start piano lessons until he was 12 years old. Miss Ana made it so comfortable for him he has never looked back and that was 3 years ago! She is patient and will call him out when she can see he has not been practicing or working on his theory, He does not want to disappoint her and so it works! She encourages students to reach their full potential and creates an environment that is fun and enjoyable.

It's hard to say enough about how happy we are to have found John. My 2 boys love taking lessons with him, but yet still he challenges them and holds them to a high standard. John is a talented and knowledgeable pianist, and a very friendly and approachable person. A top notch instructor.
