Chiang L. Chicago, IL

I teach students to be familiar with the keys and intervals and also hands position for the beginners. In my view, it is very important to sing notes and play the piano at the same time because it benefits key memorization and fosters a students' sense of music. With the piano, I believe that building the proper fundamentals sets the proper pace for future growth and musical interest.

About Chiang

I am a trumpet instructor with global experience and an approach to learning that is encompassing and fun for all ages. I was born in Taiwan and have studied in both Asia and the U.S., where I last earned my Master of Music degree from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University. Students have described me as someone who is out going, someone who is laid back and fun and someone who likes to listen and communicate with my students. I have been teaching trumpet and piano since sophomore at college, in private one-on-one lessons or as a trumpet sectional coach at elementary schools or middle schools. I believe that being an educator is about the communication and the relationship that exists between a teacher and a student. The art of being a good educator exists in the ...

I am taking piano class with Chiang since 3 months ago, starting from scratch. He has been very professional and knowledgeable, and in the meantime, being nice and forgiving (especially when I have no time to practice due to my work).

John is fun (and forgiving)

I haven't touched a piano since middle school, and while I was apprehensive going back to playing the piano, John made it rather fun and interesting. The first impression I had of John was how animated he was, and how much fun he has teaching and how much fun he wants you to have.
Brian G. Evergreen Park, IL

I am able to teach piano on all levels and am strongest on this instrument. Currently I mainly work with beginners on the instrument but can teach a variety of levels.

About Brian

Hello, my name is Brian and I am currently studying my Bachelor's in Music Education at VanderCook College of Music. It is the only college in the world that specializes in specifically Music Education, and has been since 1909. The school teaches us a basic understanding of 17 instruments and voice, while also teaching theory, aural skills, music history, professional ed courses, and includes a large number of various ensembles. Because of this, I'm able to teach some basic concepts on all of the band/orchestra instruments. Personally, I started taking piano lessons in 2000 and started drum set lessons in 2002. I've always had a dual musician life after that point, and was apart of the band and jazz band programs from 5th grade until now (sophomore in college). While attending Marist High

This teacher has many great qualities in the field of music education.

I am learning a great deal from this teacher about the piano and life qualities in general. I have taken the tools I've learned from each lesson to apply in my own practice to develop myself as a musician. I would recommend Brian Goodman to anyone interested in learning about music.

Tracy B. Berwyn, IL

About Tracy

I have been teaching individual and group lessons for 12+ years. Many of my students have won trophies at the Granquist music competition and also play in local youth orchestras. My own youth string ensemble plays publicly at many popular local venues several times a year. I enjoy exposing my students to the finer points of being a professional musician such as the camaraderie, team work, creativity (creating harmonies, tailoring arrangements to fit student’s level) and of course, stage presence. I am very proud of my students. It is so gratifying to see their confidence build with each new skill they master. *** Lesson Details *** My approach to teaching is to combine fundamentals with “adventure.” I encourage students to experiment with their instrument and have quite a few budding ...

About Caitlin

I am a life-long musician and active performer here in Chicago, IL. I've been playing music since age 5 and have variously studied piano, cello, and percussion.
