I teach all popular music styles including Blues, Rock, Jazz, Country, Bluegrass, Latin American Styles. I can teach you to read by notes and/or by chords based on your preferences and styles you choose to pursue. I like to give a solid foundation to all beginners learning to read music and basic music theory and as they progress I will concentrate more on elements that are more important for the style you prefer. I am flexible in my approach as I know the most important ingredient for a student's success in music is for the student to be motivated to play more by enjoying the lesson and the practice time. I'll work with you to make it learning fun!

About Ricardo
I have been a professional musician and teacher all my adult life. Music is my passion and has always been how I make a living. I teach piano/keyboards, guitar, voice, bass and ukulele. I studied classical piano at SUNY at Buffalo and I initially learned to play guitar and singing on my own. Years later I studied voice and guitar with great professional instructors. I am familiar with different ways of learning music: from very structured and traditional methods (that we use in classical music) to more improvisational and "by ear" approaches as we often do in popular music. This helps me tailo
r my music teaching specifically to each student based on his/her musical preferences, abilities and learning style. I can teach all styles of music including: Pop, Rock, Blues, Country, Bluegrass, Jazz, many different Latin styles including Salsa, Bolero and Bossa Nova.
I have performed all over the US and toured many countries including Mexico, Canada, Argentina, Uruguay, England and France. I have recorded more than 100 CDs for many artists (as well as my own original music) as a pianist/keyboardist, singer, guitarist and music producer. I have won many awards including most recently the Best Blues Band award as the pianist, guitarist and singer for the Lionel Young Band at the International Blues Challenge (the largest competition of blues bands in the world).
I have taught music through my whole career. Many of my students have gone on to study music as a career and have become successful professional musicians.
I am very comfortable teaching all levels from professional musicians to very beginners at any age.
I currently lead and perform with my group. We perform concerts, private events and some club work. My life as a professional musician has given me a lot of knowledge to share with my students.

*** Lesson Details ***
I adjust my approach based on what you want to learn, always with an emphasis on learning as much as possible while making the lessons fun and enjoyable. If you are a beginning piano/keyboard or guitar student I can teach you the basics of how to read music and how to play chords in the first few months and then we can decide whether you are interested in playing written music or more improvisational styles. I use different method books depending on the student and sometimes I use just my teaching materials if you are only interested in improvisational styles like Rock or Blues guitar or piano (for example). If you are a voice student, I teach with a combination of learning songs you like and using a CD/MP3s of vocal exercises that help develop good vocal technique. Whatever your instrument and musical preference you can be sure we'll have fun and you'll be making music from the very start!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a Yamaha upright piano and keyboards. I have acoustic and electric guitars, bass and amps. I have Shure Sm-58 mics to teach microphone technique with.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Student must have his/her own instrument and metronome (or equivalent) must purchase course book(s) if needed..

*** Specialties ***
I teach different styles depending on the students goals. I can teach a traditional classical style for those interested in classical music and I can teach more practical approaches for popular music such as learning by chords (for instrumental students- not voice obviously) and learning improvisation through scales, arpeggios and music theory.

About Larry
Music has been a huge part of my life, and I couldn't imagine a life without it. I began playing saxophone as a child, and picked up guitar shortly after. For the past decade I've played professionally and taught all around the country.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons will be designed around each individual player's needs, but ultimately we will address proper technique, scales to chord relationships, rhythmic accuracy, soloing, and how to have enjoy playi
ng your instrument while sounding the best as possible. For classical players will will focus on classical theory, etudes, patterns, and general technique for proper tone. For jazz players we will dive into the world of improvisation, jazz theory, and standard jazz repertoire. I use many different technique books, as well as solo transcription books for solos. I'm generally laid back in my teaching style, but to progress as a musician one must have a certain level of dedication to practicing and commitment, so I do expect my student's to want to get better and practice accordingly.

Larry takes a great interest in the students goals. He is fun and energetic, but also serious about the progression of skill set. He not only helps our kiddo with technique, but instills the importance of really feeling the music and enjoying the music.

About S. Parker
Music became my life when I found a dusty guitar in the storage room at age 10. I owe a lot of really cool experiences to the guitar and so many of them center around learning. Teaching is fun and rewarding, but it is also my way of thanking the great teachers I've had.

-Studied Music Theory/Composition at Metropolitan State College of Denver

-Won a scholarship to the 2001 Summer Guitar Program at Berklee College of Music in Boston

-Frequent substitute at Arapahoe Community College (2004-2005)

-Teacher at St. Mary's Academy Middle School (2008-2013)

-Active me
mber of Onsombley guitar ensemble

-Songwriter, Vocalist, Guitarist in The Penny Dreadfuls

-Creator of http://strumbystrum.com

-Takelessons teacher since 2008

*** Lesson Details ***
The best lessons I've ever had were lessons in which I walked away saying "Man, I never KNEW that!" and it's my goal for you have that experience, too. Whether its how to play that chord or write a melody, how to get the best sound out of those stomp boxes, or when genres like shoegazer and post-rock were invented and what they sound like... there's something to be learned in every lesson.

The most important benefit of taking lessons from me is my experience. I started teaching casually as a teenager and have followed every opportunity since. My passion for music has allowed me to teach private lessons (10+ years), middle school guitar class (including a guitar ensemble), and college-level music theory classes. Extensive experience in writing, recording, and performing has only helped that passion to grow. I've developed a method to blend theory with practice every step of the way, and make the journey fun!

Parker is a great teacher & a really nice guy. I have been working with him for about 18 months, and I have come a very long way in my technical ability as well as my understanding of music theory. He has a very low key, positive approach to our lessons, which makes them relaxing and fun, but at the same time he has the ability to get me out of my "comfort zone" and doing things that are new and challenging, from dabbling in different genres to creating new arrangements of old favorite songs to diving into the theory behind iconic riffs and chord progressions.
He has become a friend and I look forward to all of our online sessions.

Parker is a fantastic teacher. I was EXTREMELY nervous when I went in for my first lesson. However Parker's personality and teaching technique put me right at ease. His experience makes him a very good teacher and the fact he's written a book also helps. If you're looking for a teacher I'd definitely recommend him.

Aaron has been working with my 11 year old son G since last fall, so my review is sadly overdue. I initially chose him because his musical influences seemed in line with my sons. Since then we have learned much about Aaron, and he has become a wonderful addition to our home. Our first lesson was spent teaching G about his guitar, making sure we had the right tools and listening to music. Aaron took great care to listen to my son and learn about his interests and goals. His patience is endless, and he truly has a passion for opening up students to all types of music. All of the music G has learned is something that they chose together through listening and collaboration.

Over the next several months we enjoyed watching G build on his love of music and he really looks forward to his lessons. Through this process Aaron helped us learn that G was having trouble with hand strength and so he suggested trying the Ukulele until his hands grew a bit and got stronger. Aaron went above and beyond to help us pick the right instrument for him. Since changing over, our home has been filled with the sounds of the Ukulele, and G practices more than ever. Our family is lucky to have found Aaron, and he is the perfect fit for our son.

My daughter and I both think Aaron is great. I hired him to teach my 7 year old daughter. He's patient, kind, and clearly not only knows his instruments, but also loves them. He has a quiet passion for music that really makes her want to do well.

Aaron introduced my 10 year old daughter to guitar and taught her all about the various components of the guitar and some simple chords and notes. He talked about music with her and catered lessons to focus on songs she was interested in. Aaron came to our house, met our whole family and was very professional. As a parent, I couldn't ask for a better teacher!

My name is Ben and I am a guitarist with a piano habit on the side. I've been playing music for 10 years now, and I have been teaching for 3 years. I had a great experience with Ben teaching me the very beginnings of basic guitar. I'm a mom from Lafayette, CO who plays piano and wants to pick up just the basics of guitar. Ben was very patient with me and also flexible about his approach. He knew right away how to teach me the basics. He is a creative soul and fantastic player himself which is inspiring to be around. I learned more in a few lessons about theory (which I love and asked for) and some basic playing than I expected. I know he can teach all the way to more advanced playing for those who would want it!
