Rocky T. Lutz, FL

About Rocky

I'm a musician by trade, a music teacher by profession. Music is a great art form. I play a few instruments, but my main instrument is the guitar. Music performance is a fantastic form of fun which is part of playing a musical instrument - you must learn how to play a musical instrument before you can perform well with it. These two elements go hand in hand, and it is my desire to help my students understand this, and ultimately help them achieve this musical goal - playing a musical instrument well, and perform with it. I have been teaching since right out of high school some twenty-five years ago. My teaching career started at the college level where I had a privilege of tutoring college students computer software and hardware courses. My music teaching career started shortly after ...

Samantha G. Lady Lake, FL

I am of the opinion that all students of singing should be initially taught a voice technique based upon the classical or bel canto style of singing. Once a firm technique is established, students can then branch off into other styles of singing such as musical theater or jazz. With my knowledge and skill of vocal pedagogy, I will be able to guide them into this transition as well as impart the correct tools that will insure years of healthy and enjoyable singing.

About Samantha

For eight years now, Samantha has combined her love of music with her passion of cultivating an understanding and affinity to music in others by maintaining a private voice and piano studio for all ages and levels. As a performer herself, Samantha understands what it is like to be a student. Therefore, she makes it a goal to create a warm and nurturing environment while simultaneously challenging and daring her students to reach beyond what they think is possible. A current voice student wrote this about Samantha: "I love taking lessons with Samantha! She really has a lot of patience and works well with my voice. She doesn't give up on helping me reach notes, and makes me realize that I can do more with my voice than I would expect. She has developed my voice in the best way ...

Mary H. Tampa, FL

Singing is as natural to me as speaking but I wasn't always this way. That's why I love to help anyone become comfortable or better at expressing themselves through singing. Singing is a very individual thing and I approach each student uniquely, depending on the present status and goals. I have multiple experience and styles to draw on but also understand we are beautifully and wonderfully made in such a way that certain foundational, physical aspects of singing will help everyone.

About Mary

About You for Take Lessons Teaching music students for over 30 years has enriched my life. My relationship with my students is a two-way street. I create a course of study to fit their individual interests and needs and often learn from them as we explore their interest in God's wonderful gift of music! After teaching elementary music in public schools for 10 years and training university interns, it was a thrill to become a vocal graduate assistant at the University of South Florida where I earned both a B.A.in Music Education and an M.A. in Vocal Performance with Voice, Choral, Music Education and Piano Pedagogy emphasis. My classical training is also enhanced by participation in Broadway, contemporary, folk, pop music and sacred music styles. Teaching at various private ...

As an older adult, I started beginning piano with Mary H. and was able to progress quickly and learn how to read music and play the music I was interested in and learned much more than I ever expected about music theory. She is very knowledgeable and is an excellent teacher and also a very pleasant person and gets you in and out on time.

Mary is the kind of person that brings happiness to her surroundings.
I have studied voice with many teachers, but Mary's coaching is the first time that I really understand what I need to improve in my singing practices. Mary’s advice is very accurate and she pinpoints these flaws. Only half a year has passed since I started practicing singing with her; however, I can profess that she is the best teacher I have had so far. I thought my voice was becoming rusty as I aged, but it is a happy surprise that it is improving! I also feel healthier since I started to learn from Mary.
Her voice training is good for anyone who wishes to improve her/his singing technique regardless of the genre of music/songs. I recommend her singing lessons for opera voice training, popular singing from the heart, or hobby singing and body conditioning. Mary's coverage is really wide.

6 Things to Remember for Singing the Blues
Love to sing the blues? There a few things to keep in mind as you sing in this genre -- find out in this guest post by St. Augustine, FL teacher Heather L...   The history of blues music is rich and bittersweet. Proper Singing Posture - What You Need to Know
Before you learn how to breathe, sing, or play any kind of instrument correctly, you need to ensure that you're creating the proper posture with your body.
