Rocky T.

Lutz, FL

About Rocky

I'm a musician by trade, a music teacher by profession. Music is a great art form. I play a few instruments, but my main instrument is the guitar. Music performance is a fantastic form of fun which is part of playing a musical instrument - you must learn how to play a musical instrument before you can perform well with it. These two elements go hand in hand, and it is my desire to help my students understand this, and ultimately help them achieve this musical goal - playing a musical instrument well, and perform with it.

I have been teaching since right out of high school some twenty-five y
ears ago. My teaching career started at the college level where I had a privilege of tutoring college students computer software and hardware courses. My music teaching career started shortly after receiving an equivalent of a minor degree in music from the University of South Florida. My four-year degree is in Psychology and my graduate degree is in Criminal Justice.

I love to teach what I have learn from others, from participating in college level studies, from performing live with other performers to other motivated beginning musicians so that their experiences may become a lot more lasting, fruitful, and encouraging.

*** Lesson Details ***
The student should expect learning how to become self-disciplined, have fun while learning a musical instrument, and have their questions answered with examples and language they can understand.

The lessons will be laid back, because there is no reason to stress out about learning how to play a musical instrument. Dedication, however, will be expected because without it not much can be achieved.

I use music books designed to help the student understand the basics about music and their instrument of interest. Supplemental materials will be supplied according to the desire and time the student may show throughout each lesson.

Depending on much time and effort the student puts into his/her instrument, the student should be able to play their first full song within two weeks.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The In-Studio lessons are taught in a separate studio (20x20), with a drum set, guitars, keyboard, music stands, amps.

1 cat in home but not in studio.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide guitars/bass and amplification, keyboards, microphone and a PA, music stands, personalized educational materials, courtesy and dedication to the clients' musical education career.

*** Specialties ***
My goal is to produce results at the personal level because not every client is the same, and not two clients learn the same way. This is an important view point on personal education because without the existence of a personal educational program, the student may not take full advantage of the personal/private lessons.

I specialize in Rock, Alternative/Indie Rock/Hard Rock/Metal/Pop, Jazz, Blues, Alternative/Rock Country, and Latin.

Depending on the age of the student, I implement theatrics and fun methods of delivery.

Samantha G.

Lady Lake, FL

I am of the opinion that all students of singing should be initially taught a voice technique based upon the classical or bel canto style of singing. Once a firm technique is established, students can then branch off into other styles of singing such as musical theater or jazz. With my knowledge and skill of vocal pedagogy, I will be able to guide them into this transition as well as impart the correct tools that will insure years of healthy and enjoyable singing.

About Samantha

For eight years now, Samantha has combined her love of music with her passion of cultivating an understanding and affinity to music in others by maintaining a private voice and piano studio for all ages and levels. As a performer herself, Samantha understands what it is like to be a student. Therefore, she makes it a goal to create a warm and nurturing environment while simultaneously challenging and daring her students to reach beyond what they think is possible.

A current voice student wrote this about Samantha:

"I love taking lessons with Samantha! She really has a lot of patience and
works well with my voice. She doesn't give up on helping me reach notes, and makes me realize that I can do more with my voice than I would expect. She has developed my voice in the best way possible. I look forward to every lesson with her!"

In addition to teaching, Samantha maintains an active performance schedule as an opera singer. Described as being “silver-voiced,” Samantha most recently made her professional symphonic debut with Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra as Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni). Last September, Ms. G-Y performed the role of Yum-Yum (The Mikado) with Pacific Opera Project. She has also performed roles including Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Tatyana (Eugene Onegin), Fox (The Cunning Little Vixen), and Anne (A Little Night Music).

Samantha completed her Bachelor of Music Degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music and her Master of Music Degree from Temple University.

*** Lesson Details ***
One of my strengths as a teacher is that I can easily cater and adjust to the needs of the student and their learning processes. I formulate my lesson plans according to the level, experience, and goals of the student. Each lesson is extremely personalized and highly individualized to maximize the potential success of the student during our time together.

Research has proven that performing music is one of the few activities that engages both the left and the right portions of the brain simultaneously. Towards this end, my teaching places equal importance on developing a strong technique all while nurturing creative instincts.

All ages and levels are welcomed!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I teach out of my beautiful home in Van Nuys where I have a 7-foot Schimmel grand piano.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I may be able to provide music for certain pieces. I expect students to have access to a piano or keyboard.

About Cameron

Cameron H. has been performing and teaching in the Tampa Bay area for 30 years. Mr. H. enjoys sharing his love of music with students of all ages, from children to senior adults.

Music students learn more efficiently and develop better technique when what they study in school is reinforced with private lessons. Good technique is vital for mastering any musical instrument, the human voice included.

The close supervision of one-on-one instruction enables students to build a solid foundation. Learning something right the first time is so much easier than having to “unlearn what you have l
earned” later.

Mr. H. earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in music from the University of South Florida in Tampa. He has been on the music faculty of several local colleges and performed as a violinist, a singer and a conductor, working with numerous commercial names, local opera and ballet productions, chamber music ensembles and community and professional orchestras.
