Nathan R.

Windsor Mill, MD

I focus equally on fundamentals, tone production, proper air support, intonation and technique.

About Nathan

I have been teaching private lessons for close to 10 years and have been an active performer for even longer, playing in all different types of groups, from rock bands and jazz groups to orchestras and brass bands. I studied music at Frostburg State University (Bachelors) and the Peabody Conservatory (Masters). I can teach just about any age and skill level and cover anything you are interested in learning; whether its a certain style, genre, technique or song.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are laid back, with a focus on perfecting the basics. Most students work out of a method book a
ppropriate to their skill level. Aside from that we'll also spend time learning songs and pieces of the students choice. With the right amount of effort, you'll know your way around your instrument in no time at all

*** Travel Equipment ***
Will provide sheet music and exercises. My students should have a working instrument as well as any method book or sheet music we are working on.

*** Specialties ***
I teach all styles and genres

We are so happy that he shared his talent with us. He gave my son beneficial skills to practice and assessed what he would work on during our next lesson. Thank you for connecting us.

Great Teacher

Nathan is a great teacher. I had always wanted to learn the bass guitar and had zero experience. He has a great feeling for music and teaches it very well. I really have enjoyed my lessons.

Theresa D.

Rosedale, MD

The French Horn is another instrument that schools will give scholarships. If you are looking to stand out from the crowd, then this is the instrument to learn. If you currently play another brass instrument, this can be an easy switch for you.

About Theresa

I am a former instrumental music teacher in the Catholic school system. I have been teaching in some way, shape or form for the past 19 years. For those students interested in any of my crafting lessons, I have been making crafts since I was too young to remember. My methods of teaching vary depending on the student and what they need to succeed. Please let me know if you have issues with animals, I can put them in another part of the house. I have both cats and a dog.

I find Theresa to be almost like a kindred spirit. Not only does she have MUCH knowledge of her artistry but, of course, shares my love for music, children, animals, crafting, sports etc. In addition, she has great patience with me which has enabled me to learn an artistry that I never really thought to be possible. I am VERY pleased with her instruction.

Joshua R.

Silver Spring, MD

I am an experienced teacher who has been lucky enough to have gotten to learn from some of the best brass musicians in the world. I use the established standard repertoire for the Horn to help students build technique and develop greater musicality. I encourage students to also find music that they enjoy playing on their instruments. My approach includes using theory and ear training to help students become more than just horn players, but complete musicians.

About Joshua

My name is Joshua and I just graduated with double degrees in music education and french horn performance from the Chicago College of the Performing Arts. In Chicago I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to study with Dale Clevenger of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. While in Chicago I taught at Music For Kids, a non-profit that provides free violin and music theory lessons for any who apply. I have also authored a number of compositions that have been performed in Illinois, Maryland, Vermont, Michigan, and even Washington state. My approach to teaching includes elements of developing aur
al skills and using theory to help augment skills on an instrument.

As one of my teachers once said to me, a good should been as inspirational as informational. Inspiring students to go out and learn music they love on their own is one of my goals for my students. Learning music should be engaging, challenging, and most importantly, fun!
