I started playing clarinet in the school band at age six. My father was a musician, and he thought that playing in the school band would help me overcome my extreme shyness. I remember my first music lesson. I really liked my teacher. He came to my house, and he helped me to care for my clarinet and make some sounds on it. I thought playing the clarinet was wonderful. Once in awhile my mom would have to urge me to practice, but I was so drawn to playing the clarinet from the start that I would practice a lot on my own. I was the youngest member of the grade school band, but my music lessons helped me to keep up with the older kids. I had found a niche, and my niche helped me open up to other students in school and make friends. I participated in band programs through middle ...
Hello, I have been performing music since I was in the 4th grade when I started playing clarinet. In the 8th grade I started playing the oboe, and decided in my senior year to go to Ithaca College to become a music teacher, studying with Paige Morgan. While at Ithaca College, I had a private studio of 4 oboe players who were in middle school and high school. My oldest student was selected to be an oboe player at the NYSSMA All-State conference. I also toured around New York state playing in operas, as a solist, and in many broadway shows. Upon graduation I was hired by Teach for America and Denver Public Schools to be a music teacher k-8th grade. I taught music theory, band, orchestra and piano. I now play the flute, oboe, saxophone or clarinet for hire, and love to share ...

I have recently graduated from University of Denver with a degree in music. I have played music almost my entire life in some form and have had tons of experience playing in all kinds of ensembles. My strength is helping people understand concepts in new ways. I make plenty of my own reeds and can teach that as well. I think that foundations of music are the most important and can teach all levels of musicianship. I am most experienced in orchestral playing, small ensemble, and solo playing as well. I have played principal most of my musical career and will continue to educate around music. *** Lesson Details *** I like to teach all kinds of lessons, but I really focus on the foundations of music as well as what the student wants to focus on as well. *** Studio Equipment *** I have ...
I teach the basics of sound production and reading music, through sophisticated understanding and facility of all keys and ability to execute any passage or difficult line.
I've been teaching clarinet and music, in general, for five years in the Boulder/Broomfield area. I have varied approaches to accommodate any student's needs. I come from an eclectic musical background, including world music, jazz, rock and classical. I can teach the basics of how you make the clarinet produce sound through the more complex intricacies of forming an effective musical phrase. I incorporate music theory and history as needed in the lessons to create a well-rounded musician who can tackle any issues or passage.
