About Paul
I have played the guitar for twenty years and have studied a wide variety of music including jazz, classical, folk, blues and rock. I’m skilled in acoustic, electric and classical styles of the guitar. I have an open mind about music and can appreciate any style or type. I have a firm background on music theory, so I am able to explain what I am teaching. I excelled in all my classes in college, music and Gen Eds, with a GPA over 3.75. I also have experience in teaching guitar or bass to students ranging from the ages of six to sixty six. I enjoy taking what I have learned and passing it
on to someone else to experience. I believe this is one way you can leave your mark in music. I believe the experience I have playing in bands, and learning songs with my ability of having relative pitch will make my students improve quicker. I am also a very skilled sight reader and can recognize key signatures and musical notation. I’ve also been playing electric bass guitar for 13 years now and have the same skill set as my guitar playing. In fact I am hired to perform more often as a bassist than a guitarist.
I went to Columbia College between 2000-2003 and I completed a Bachelor Arts in Music, Concentration: Instrument Performance.
I also went to Harper College between 1997-2000 and I completed an Associates in Fine Arts of Music.

I started with Paul about 6-8 weeks back and i am already starting to play some famous songs. which is great for motivation. He can mold the class as you desire based on your choice of music and style of learning. He is a wonderful teacher for all age groups. I would recommend taking lessons with him.

I'm writing this because honestly, I would not be where i am today without the guidance and teachings of Paul. His ability to bridge the gap between technique and style is truly priceless & continues to reward me a decade after taking lessons with him. As a touring musician, I owe a lot of my understanding of music to him. Thank you Paul!

About Steven
I have been studying and performing music for 20+ years. After majoring in music at College of Dupage in Glen Ellyn IL, I went to step up my level of study at the Percussion Institute of Technology (P.I.T.) at Musician's Institute in Hollywood, CA in 2001 attaining a Performance Certificate from my time studying there.

Moving back to Chicago after L.A. in 2002 proved to be the right move as this is when I began my teaching career. With 13+ years of private and group music instruction experience, I have worked with Hix Brothers Music, Naperville Music, Roselle Music, Streamwood Park Distri
ct, Roselle Park District, Schaumburg Park District, After School Enrichment Solution's Guitar Stars, Band For Today, Guitar Fundamentals, Chicago Guitar Instruction, Schaumburg Music Academy, Music Makers of Western Springs, Clarendon Hills Music Academy, and also maintain a private clientele. Well into a thousand lessons taught, students have stayed with me for up to 7 years. You, the student, will gain all the experience I have gained from my 20 years of study, performance, and instruction.

Performing with various bands in the 2000's, I pinpointed my style and mastered my technique that gave me many performance opportunities regionally and nationally, noting most current act U2 tribute Vertigo USA.

I am co-founder of the music licensing production company Blue Shade Music, co-writing with astute musicians in the Chicago area for music libraries in Florida and California currently.

With national and international touring experience, I was featured in an exclusive interview for Online Drummer in August of 2011 sharing my knowledge and experience of music and drums.

Thank you for reading, and I hope to have a fun and educational time with you!

Steven is a great teacher! He's flexible, and works well with all ages! He's teaching my 3 kids, drums, guitar and bass. He's very receptive and adjusts his lessons according to what my kids are interested in. For example one of my kids was learning notes, but then the other wanted to learn a specific song and he easily adjusted to focus on what each of them wanted to do to. My kids love him!

I have been playing bass for 24 years. I have been on tour before, been on road crews with national acts working for Industrial Light and Sound, and have been teaching when time was available to me. I incorporate everything into teaching Bass Guitar. From the basics like proper maintenance of your bass and gear, to adjusting your neck, replacing tubes in your amp, what gear is best for your sound, recording techniques for bass, live sound for when you play shows, and much much more. Basically everything that goes along with being a touring Bass Player and making money at it! I also record some lessons in Pro Tools and will give them to you at the end of the lesson via Wav format onto a flash drive you bring in for that class. Also your homework goes into paper format/and or email format and or on a flashdrive, Scales, Notes, Songs you might want to learn, etc. I also include reference sites, where you can get drum tracks to jam to, write your own song's to, as this is a great way to ...

About Chris
Bass Lessons with Recording/Mixing/Live/Bass Maintenance and more!

My name is Chris M. I'm a 24 yr touring vet. I've been on tour, played at venues across the country, and recorded great studio albums. I am also a recording engineer and live mixer. All of this goes into teaching you how to play Bass Guitar. Communication is the key and making sure you understand everything, from how to tune, to how to adjust your neck/pickups, how to go direct for a live show, how to record, what mics sound best on bass, Pro Tools sessions, and of course how to play, pick, thumb, slap pop, and finger tap..
.plus more. I specialize in teaching beginner classes as well as intermediate classes. If you not sure where you stand, that's ok too just ask me a question to see if I can help you get to where you wanna be with your playing/mixing/recording etc. Also if you are not interested in recording or any other things that's OK too although I do recommend it of course, but it is in no way extra as I just naturally want to teach you all of what I know.

My bass classes are done differently. I usually start of with home jam projects written, as we progress I start to include some online homework to spice things up, this might include drum tracks to jam to, maybe with a click to work on keeping time, or maybe just some awesome video's on turning scales into solo's or a fun groove. Sometimes I'll even have you jump around while you play, jump on a table and jump off while still keeping time and playing the correct notes, or I might just start yelling "FREE BIRD" at you when your working on a new song/piece.....:) That actually happened to me in Tennessee...

I recommend many different aspects of being a bassist. sites for getting cheaper strings, where to look for a band, and field trips to jam with a live drummer/band on rare occasions. We also have an open mic night on Wednesday evenings all ages till 10pm.

Another exciting aspect is RECORDING! When your ready we can do a jam session/instructional recording of our lesson together on an HD Pro Tools rig. It's always a great way to get into recording if you haven't already. Or maybe work on one of your original tunes. And if you want to book a recording session with your band or a guitarist/singer/pianist/etc. we can do that as well.

I also coach on gear(what amps I think are great sounding, which would sound good for your style of music and budget, what gear is good for recording(pre-amps, compressors, eq's, etc.). And of course work with in your budget. Cause lets face it, everyone would love to have a $50million dollar recording studio but for most of us that's not gonna happen. But that doesn't mean you can't get great recordings. Some of today's music you hear on the radio where recording in a hotel room, or artists home studio.

I also help you create your own songs. Not writing your riffs for you, but putting them together or giving you ideas. You can basically think of it as me Producing a song for you. I also do some of the more traditional things if need be. For example: I show you how to get into the pocket, when and how to give it that little extra something to make the bass stand out and say....BOOM! Or when to lay back a little and let the other guys do their thing.

I have played everything from Blues, Jazz, Funk, Rock, Alternative, Punk, Metal, Death Metal, Thrash, Reggae, Country, and even some Hip-Hop. So I can definitely help you excel in whatever genre you play in. Can also put you on the right track to booking shows. The how to, the where is a good place to play, and what the Chicagoland music scene is doing at the time, as I regularly play shows in the area. When you become a student at my Studio, you get 110% focus, and commitment from me.
All of my knowledge goes into teaching you to be a better musician. Might be how you move up and down the neck, how you always play major notes instead and skipping minor notes, or what to pack in your gig bag just in case.

I have personally had a lot of lessons from Chris in many fields and I must say unlike most other teachers I have had he always ends up teaching you so many more aspects of what it is you are trying to learn. All of his experience from performing live in the bands to recording albums in the bands to being the one recording the bands. All of that comes out in his lessons and you learn so many aspects of what you are trying to learn. I recommend the bass lessons and he is just amazing with recording as well as live performance. It is a great experience and I plan to be taking many lessons to come. I really like how I am able to go and learn a lot of different things and aspects to a lesson where as the bigger schools and most teachers just kind of focus on the one aspect. Chris is really well rounded and you can get what you want out of your lessons.

Chris shared with me so much knowledge it was great. Always fun as well. It's the best time of the week for me. Many times he sneaks in lessons on stuff where doing while he helps me with a song I'm working on. And then he's teaching me how to record it. Whoever reads this you gotta ask him to record, you'll literally learn more than enough to keep you occupied and interested in what your working on. It's great man.

Bass is a key part in a song which helps the grove and pace. It could be as simple as playing the root notes and as intricate as playing arpeggios, modes, and sometimes soloing. I will teach you the fundamentals of playing bass either by yourself or with a band. We will work on drills, scales and learn other songs that are related to the genre you are interested in.

About Sebastian
Playing and learning an instrument is beneficial to ones being because it is a great way to express ones self and it's an excellent stress reliever. It's also an amazing feeling playing an instrument you love to listen to.

Learning any instrument could be daunting at first because there is so much to learn and without any help, could feel overwhelming and hopeless. Do not fret because I am here to assist you!
I have studied many music genres all across the board and have a professional knowledge and comprehension of the theory encompassed behind them. Every lesson is crafted for each stu
dent in specific areas they have interest in while being done at the students own pace.

My background history:

I immersed myself in music at a very young age, studying classical piano and theory. In my teenage years I took the initiative to learn guitar and began by purchasing my own guitar and books and taught myself to play electrical and classical guitar. I followed my passion and continued my studies at Columbia College and graduated with a bachelors degree in Instrumental Performance.

Post-graduation, I have experienced playing in multiple bands, performing in concerts, teaching piano and guitar ranging in all levels at a music center and private home and enjoying some traveling.

Everything I have learned will be reflected in my lesson methodology and will help you learn to play proficiently in a timely manner. I look forward to meeting new prospective students while having fun teaching them music.
