Teaching Guitar Lessons in Atlanta

By Paul E. - Atlanta Guitar Teacher

Atlanta is an outstanding place to teach music. The city has a diverse, cultured population with a fabulous appreciation for the arts. As a TakeLessons instructor, it is an honor to teach guitar lessons in Atlanta, a city with such an expressive urban landscape.

My students have very different musical backgrounds. Some have performed in school or church groups, while others have no experience playing music at all. Their goals and interests in music are just as unique. Many of them are working toward becoming live performers, while others are only seeking a private and personal development of their music ability. Nevertheless, it is not difficult to motivate my students to achieve the goals they set for themselves during their guitar lessons in Atlanta.

To any new students considering guitar l
essons in Atlanta, I invite you to give TakeLessons a shot. We offer a great deal of expertise and experience that will help guide you through your journey in learning music. We take musical growth very seriously, and as an instructor I guarantee you won’t regret it. Come make music with us!

Great Instruction for all levels

I am in my mid-thirties and have never had any formal musical instruction until I started taking lessons with Jordan a few months ago. I was a little nervous about starting the lessons, but Jordan made me very comfortable right away. You definitely can tell he knows music inside and out. He is also very helpful about incorporating just enough music theory into each lesson, so I can expand my knowledge of theory, but not so much that I get overwhelmed. I would definitely recommend Jordan to anyone looking for a great vocal or guitar instructor.

Great lessons

Jordan is an excellent instructor. I'm very pleased with the guidance that I have received thus far. With the limited amount of time spent in a 30min session, we always seem to cover a lot of ground. I would recommend lessons with him for any guitarist looking to take their guitar skills to the next level.

Joseph A. Atlanta, GA

About Joseph

I am a professional guitarist/bassist with more than 20 years experience playing in bands of various styles including hard rock, metal, country and jazz. I have toured across the U.S. and have shared the stage with acts as varied as Styx, Heart, Foreigner, Corey Smith, Drivin' & Cryin', Seven Mary Three, and Quiet Riot. *** Lesson Details *** My students can expect their lessons to be laid back but still goal oriented. I strive to tailor lessons to the personal learning styles and musical preferences of my students. If the student wants to be the next solo-guitar shredder or introspective guitar songwriter, I want to give him/her the tools needed to succeed. After just a few months (with consistent practice at home), my students will be able to not only play along with their favorite ...

Great

Really great teacher.
Paul S. Decatur, GA

I have been playing the guitar (as a secondary instrument) and learning/writing songs for the past 10 years or so, beginning with lessons at my local music shop. This instrument is an important and versatile one, but I don't recommend it for students younger than 9 or 10 due to the guitar's required physical facility. We will begin by learning the foundations of technique and rhythm; I like to use the Hal Leonard method book. However, since each student is different, I will cater to individual needs.

About Paul

Hello students and parents! I am a native of Atlanta, Georgia who has been studying music for 17 years. My first instrument was the piano at age 6, and I began playing percussion in my middle school band when I was 11. My deep love of music drove me to pursue a Bachelor of Music Performance degree, which I earned Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia in 2012. In college, I studied percussion with Tim Adams, retired principal timpanist of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. Music (and especially percussion) is an exciting and enormous world that I am eager to share with you, either at your home or in my studio. I am a patient, funny, and outgoing teacher who caters to your specific needs as a student. While I have studied classical music for many years, I also offer lessons ...

Wes F. Atlanta, GA

My years of teaching have helped me to understand what it takes to make consistent progress in learning the guitar. My approach is focused on helping the student acquire habits that will aid them in forging solid technique and musicianship, consequently removing limitations to allow access to all the joy that music has to offer.

About Wes

I studied classical guitar and composition at Asbury College and later more in depth guitar studies rock, jazz, and classical at the Atlanta Institute of Music. I have been teaching steadily for the past ten years as well as spending my time with various other musical projects such as leading worship for my church, performing for various parties and weddings, and composing and recording music for a short film. I use my experience and broad understanding of music to inform the way that I teach, so that my students have a robust experience of all aspects of music. *** Lesson Details *** I have a lesson plan that I follow for beginning students to get them through the basics. As a teacher I am laid back, and positive, but always try to give the student a clear reflection of how they are ...

Excellent Instructor

Wes is an excellent instructor. He is patient, clear, encouraging, fun, and totally professional. I highly recommend him to anyone (young or old) wanting to learn the guitar.

Wes listens to what the student wants to learn and sets his lessons to help the student achieve their goals. Our lessons are in the instructor's studio, which is a safe, accessible, and clean environment.

I look forward to our future sessions and continuing my guitar learning under his instruction.

Guitar Theory Basics: Understanding Keys
Curious about keys? Guitar teacher Alexander A. breaks down the guitar theory behind understanding keys... What key am I in? For most of the music we play this simple question yields a simple answer. I think the REAL question here is “why.” Why is a piece of music considered to be in the key of G major, or A minor, or any other key?
