I enjoy teaching people how music theory works, and how it can help them to learn music more quickly and how knowing the structure of music can make you more sure-footed when it comes to improvisation (playing solos) and songwriting.
I fell in love with the guitar when I was ten years old, and it’s been one of the most satisfying, long-lasting and healthiest romantic relationships of my entire life. I am still in love. When I began to play AND sing, the magic multiplied. Through performing solo and with bands, I discovered that other people also enjoyed the magic that was being channeled through me musically. Then I found that I could teach. This was a surprise to me. I found that I am the kind of person who can explain concepts and demonstrate technique in a way that makes the new information fun for a student. My students enjoy learning, and I enjoy the fact that they are enjoying it. It is SO MUCH FUN for me to see a student’s face light up because something suddenly makes sense to them, and they GET IT. I ...

Some people think that music theory is the "boring part" of learning music. Others think that theory is only part of learning how to read music, when in fact theory can complement ANYONE's ability to read, hear, perform, and even write music at any level.
I am a pianist. I am also a keyboardist, programmer, and music producer. But the title I probably most identify with is "composer." I realized early on that my own passion for performing was fueled by my hunger to actually CREATE music. So I set out to learn from the masters. I won competitions and scholarships in high school, then double-majored in piano and composition at the University of Kansas where I obtained my bachelor's degree before going on to record, write, and produce rock & electronic dance music. I love being a CREATOR of music; and that love just extends quite naturally into the collaborative creative process we have come to know as "teaching." There is no greater joy than creating music...except maybe seeing someone else I have trained and inspired create something ...

Hi, I'm Glenn. Thank you for viewing my profile. I've been teaching students for over 20 years, playing all styles and levels of music, from day-one beginners to seasoned pros seeking to sharpen their playing skills. I teach both traditional notation and tablature, writing my own teaching methods in both formats.
