I equally cover fundamentals, technique, tone production, classical, jazz and anything else the student might be interested in.

About Nathan
I have been teaching private lessons for close to 10 years and have been an active performer for even longer, playing in all different types of groups, from rock bands and jazz groups to orchestras and brass bands. I studied music at Frostburg State University (Bachelors) and the Peabody Conservatory (Masters). I can teach just about any age and skill level and cover anything you are interested in learning; whether its a certain style, genre, technique or song.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are laid back, with a focus on perfecting the basics. Most students work out of a method boo
k appropriate to their skill level. Aside from that we'll also spend time learning songs and pieces of the students choice. With the right amount of effort, you'll know your way around your instrument in no time at all

*** Travel Equipment ***
Will provide sheet music and exercises. My students should have a working instrument as well as any method book or sheet music we are working on.

*** Specialties ***
I teach all styles and genres

About Travis
Hi,

My name is Travis, and I have been playing trumpet for 17 years. I have been teaching for 8. I love working with new students, and became more focused on private lessons during my Sophomore year in college. Speaking of which, I earned a Bachelors of Music in Trumpet Performance from the University of Maryland College Park.

While there, I played with the Wind Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra and Jazz Band. I am also a regular performer with the Prince Georges Philharmonic.

As each student is different, so is my technique and teaching method. Generally, I have students work
through the fundamentals of the instrument including fingerings, embouchure, breathing and scales. Once mastered, the more difficult obstacles such as range, dexterity, repertoire and endurance are approached. I do not work with a set schedule for students, and tailor the lesson plan for the student's growth and practice.

Travis did a great job--he quickly picked up on what things I needed to work on and adjusted his lesson plan to me. And he's fun and easy to work with. I'm excited to be getting started on piano lessons!

I'm very glad that I ended up with Travis on this journey. Often anxiety and fear gets in the way of learning and with Travis I don't to worry about that. The process is structured, the materials are carefully selected and tailored to my personal needs. I feel lucky.

Playing a brass instrument can be a fun and rewarding experience when approached in the correct way. I help all my students develop a good attitude toward playing music, as well as setting them up for success in developing a good sound and technique. I have helped students prepare for all situations, including auditions, adjudications, and yearly band concerts.

About Joel
Hello! I have played brass instruments in many different ensembles over the last 15 years, including concert bands, jazz ensembles, brass quintets, marching bands, drum and bugle corps, and more, and I would like to share these experiences with you as you build your own rewarding experiences with music.

I attended Hofstra University and The Hartt School, earning a B.S. in Music Education and a M.M. in Euphonium Performance, respectively. I am available for students of all ages and backgrounds, and will attend to the goals of each student separately and deliberately.

I think that Joel Meltzer is an excellent trumpet teacher. He is both professional and personable. He was able to quickly assess my current skill level and determine where I needed to start for my first lesson without making me feel insecure in any way.

I look forward to getting more competent with each succeeding lesson.
