Lucas H. Ann Arbor, MI

I can teach all levels of saxophone and can work with students on classical and/or jazz music. Saxophone is my primary instrument and I have been playing for 13 years.

About Lucas

I am a graduate student at the University of Michigan and have experience teaching beginners-through high school level, as well as adults. Although my specialty is classical/concert saxophone, I have a lot of experience performing and teaching jazz as well. My teachers include Timothy McAllister and Eugene Rousseau, two of the most renowned saxophone teachers and performers in their field.

Benjamin M. Ypsilanti, MI

I have played saxophone since I was in 5th grade. I have been in a variety of groups over the years; rock, funk, punk, jazz quartets and big-band jazz, and the experimental use of electronics. You will learn proper breath (dynamics) and embouchure control, tonguing techniques, standard and alternate fingerings, approaches to improvisation and assistance with a varied repertoire for performance. I own a 1967 Beuscher alto saxophone and an Elkhart C-tenor saxophone. My home studio has recording capability which I use to record lessons when they are needed for review. Ear training is a crucial part to music on any level, and I encourage playing by ear as an important element to improvisation and music appreciation. My lessons are fun, informative, and creative!

Since I was born and raised in Ann Arbor, I am happy to be back and ready to go :) Whether you want to pursue a Musical Career or simply learn how to Play your Favorite Tunes for friends and family, I am here as your Teacher and Guide. I teach at my own home, commute to yours or through the use of Skype. Your choice. As a Father of four, I have had the joy in teaching my children Guitar, Saxophone, Songwriting, Composition and Keyboard. As a parent I have found that Patience and Encouragement ...

Ben is a wonderful teacher. Ben is patient while I learn new techniques. I learn new techniques every session which is important to me to keep on learning and keep on improving. Ben and I play together in review of what I have learned which is fun and it teaches me about music timing, rhythm and more. I have brought some songs to Ben and we review and play. I feel thus far I have made great strides as a guitarist and hope to make more.
