Coach Cole has been teaching, playing and coaching tennis for 17+ years. During this time he has served as a High School Tennis Coach, Nike Tennis Director, Head and Associate Tennis Professional & College Coach. He has developed students in Oregon and California who are now winners on the court and off the court.

Coach Cole is an avid basketball player and golfer. While in college, he had the opportunity to become a multi-sport athlete, however due to time constraints he dedicated his life to tennis and education.

Cole Shelton has brought a fresh, enthusiastic approach to the clinics. I have participated both in his Saturday morning clinic and two of the classes he offered on a particular stroke. I appreciated the fact that he came prepared to each type of “lesson,” often bringing written material on the stroke/strategy to be covered that day and always having a plan for the day. He initiated drills that I had never participated in before and which really helped me retain the concept he was explaining. Because he explains well and has a very positive approach in dealing with people, I signed my daughter, Nikki, up for a private lesson with Cole over the last Christmas break; unfortunately, it rained the entire time she was home. However, when she comes home in July, I plan on signing her up again. I am sure she will come away from that lesson(s) with a great attitude about tennis as well as improved strokes. Often while I am waiting for a court or am playing on the court next to a junior clinic he is giving, I watch how Cole interacts with the young players. He is patient and provides activities that keep them engaged. I would certainly not hesitate to recommend him to anyone—child, teenager, or adult—looking to learn tennis or enhance their game.

Also, I would like to mention that Cole went out of his way to ensure that my son, Michael , and I could play mixed doubles 8.0 together. After the numerous calls/e-mails to Norcal USTA that we made with no results in getting Michael’s rating changed, Cole helped us out and made the call that led to the rating being changed and our being able to play matches together. Before he became involved, we lost almost 2 months .

Cole is an invaluable asset.

I have been a member of the club for over ten years and have had the opportunity to take several lessons and clinics with your various resident professional tennis instructors. My tennis experience goes back from high school to my present senior tennis status. Over the years I have worked on improving my game through one on one professional lessons where my budget would allow.

When I’ve gone to the pros for help, my goal is the get the instructor to give me some useable feedback to how I can improve my game. One usually gets a least one thing from the session to takeaway and use. I’ve been collecting and using them over the years.

I recently engaged Cole Shelton for help with my serve, which had lost its consistency over the last USTA season. Cole was not recommended by anyone but I decided to take a chance that he could help me out. I was extremely satisfied with the session. There was email correspondence before hand to establish goals and to get acquainted. The session started on time and his demeanor friendly and non-condescending. What most impressed me about Cole’s teaching style was the use of the latest technology to impart and emphasize the points of the lesson. An Apple ipad was utilized to capture my form and make a comparison to correct technique. The ability to actually see what I was doing right and wrong during the lesson was invaluable. The video capture of my serve and a series of form points were emailed to me for reference. This is a tennis instructor that has given me a welcome perspective on how to improve my game.

I would have no reservations in recommending Cole to anyone who needs help with their tennis game. His approach to instruction was refreshing and innovative.

This letter is to acknowledge, recognize and commend the services provided by Cole while teaching me over the last few months. My goal was to get back into tennis, after not having played for over 20 years, and Cole has been of tremendous help.

He clearly understood my intent, helped me to gradually catch up, physically and technically, adjusted the teaching depending upon my needs, and was also very flexible in terms of availability (which is of high value given my work schedule).

Getting back into a sport one has not practiced for a long time is not easy and Cole was extremely helpful and supportive to bring me back into the game.

I have practiced Many different Martial Arts, like Karate, Kung Fu, Philipinian Kali eskrima since the age of 10. When I turned 25 I fell in love with Kickboxing and Thai boxing, after I have practiced these combat sports disciplines for a couple of years I took a Kickboxing and Muay Thai course for coaches with the Italian Academy and Federation of combat sports that was then named FENASCO under the leadership of well renown coach Carlo Diblasi. After a few months I received my instructor's diploma and I have since then coached many athletes, some of whom went onto becoming national and international champions. I have trained consistently for many years with world legendary kickboxing and Thai Boxing champions like Ramon Dekkers, Andre Mannhart and Rob Kaman, just to name a few. I was referred to Wahb after seeing the physical and lifestyle changes of a good friend. She lost 15 pounds and was so much happier as she was eating clean and having fun. I wanted to know her secret!

When I met Wahb he was friendly, kind, energetic, knowledgeable and I felt safe having him in my home. Our first session entailed evaluating my "body type", asking key questions about my goals, eating habits, any past injuries along with exercises/activities that I enjoy. Next we began our challenging workout. Usually I walk on the treadmill and never see results or feel soreness. Wahb made sure I was sweating and learning new exercises I had never seen before. Wahb was taking a lot of notes while he was showing me the correct form and explaining every exercise step-by-step. Every thing made sense.

After a challenging workout, Wahb customized a meal plan for me for the next 2 weeks. The meals were delish and 6 pounds melted away without starving.

My goal is to drop 30 pounds. I see Wahb 3 days per week and 1-2 days at the gym. I have lost 20 pounds in 8 weeks eating what I love and mixing our workouts from inside strength training and stretching to outdoor cardio. Mixing things up seems to be the key to Wahb's technique. He's a wealth of information.

Recently my husband has been commenting on how great I look and he has scheduled 6 sessions with Wahb. I recommend Wahb to anyone who wants to see results and work with someone passionate who really cares about your health and wellness. He is not your average gym trainer looking to take your money. I also love that Wahb is available anytime for questions. He's very attentive with his clients.

Expect to work hard and you'll see beautiful results!

I must say that, for a man who is 50 of age, and always looking like he is in his mid 30"s, Wahb has figured it all out! What he taught me about nutrition is probably the most valuable thing when it comes to keeping healthy eating right, eating light, yet have an incredible amount of energy at all times. Nutrition with Wahb is made simple yet incredibly delicious, the ingredients are all natural and organic in the most part, mostly vegetables, greens and seeds, with a few selected meats and a lot of healthy herbs and spices. A basic nutrition that is rich with all the essential nutrients, and where all the superfluous food is almost totally discarded. If one wants to keep healthy, strong and young looking... Wahb is the guy!
Needless to add that he is so proficient in any type of physical exercise, combat sports, self defense and many various sports. His main focus is how to exercise to be fit maintaining a constant attention to improving health and well being.

Wahb is honestly the best trainer I have ever worked with. His self defense methods are great, and I have never gotten a better workout with another trainer. I really love how patient and kind he is, while also being tough and kicking your butt at the same time! He makes you feel so comfortable, and doesn't make you discouraged at all. Rather, he encourages and inspires me to push my body to the limit, while maintaining safety, of course. I would recommend Wahb for anyone who wants to get fit, the healthy and safe way!!! :)

My name is Don. I am excited that you have chosen to review my sport performance coaching experience and qualifications. I am equally honored that you are considering working with me to improve your own sport performance and enjoyment.

I am a sport, exercise, and performance coach. Although evidence-based applied sport psychology is the primary emphasis in the services I provide, I am also competent, experienced, and excited to provide sport-specific skills training, evidence-based physical training, and evidence-based performance coaching services to athletes, coaches, teams, and parents from a wide variety of sports and sport populations. A unique combination of art and science is an important part of my service delivery framework.

Whether we work on the mental, sport-specific, physical, or performance parts of your
sport, the opportunity to work closely with an individual player, coach or team to help them succeed and enjoy their sport performance and lives more fully is something I consider to be very special and a privilege.

A few of the sports where I have been successful in helping players, coaches, teams, parents of athletes, and others include baseball, bicycle racing, high school cross country and track, high school diving, diving, motocross, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, tennis, and ski racing.

A few things about me. I live in Arvada, Colorado, I am married, and we have two boys. I first experienced the joy of sport as a very young person, and that joy and passion is still with me today. As an athlete I have trained and competed in a variety of sports throughout my life including baseball, football, basketball, tennis, and ski racing. In addition, I raced motocross for over 10 years. Currently, I compete in racing road bicycles. However, it is with the sport of baseball that I have the most experience, both as a player and coach.

My baseball coaching experience includes competitive youth baseball (Pomona Mudcats, Record: 154-66, three World Series appearances and ten major tournament wins), high school junior varsity and varsity baseball (Colorado 5A State Champions), and college baseball (Regis University NCAA Division II). In all three of these programs I was involved with in- and out-of season strength and conditioning. In addition, I was instrumental in designing and teaching mental skills programs.

In addition to significant baseball coaching experience, I am a former Certified Level 3 USA Cycling Coach (and current competitive road racing cyclist). Not only have I safely and effectively increased the muscular strength, aerobic and anaerobic endurance, and speed of cycling athlete-clients, but I have successfully helped cyclists with the mental aspect of training and racing bicycles.

My education includes a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with minors in kinesiology (exercise science) and psychology. I have a recent master’s degree in sport psychology, where my master’s degree thesis examined the sources and types of sport-confidence in a sample of recreational and competitive youth baseball players. Lastly, I am currently enrolled in a PhD program in General Psychology, with a continued focus on sport and performance psychology.

While I am competent and comfortable working with athletes of both genders, athletes of all ages and abilities, and culturally diverse athletes, my primary area of research interest is with youth and high school age student-athletes. As such, my doctoral thesis will likely address a topic within this important sport population.

The opportunity to work closely with you to provide sport performance coaching services falls under four areas: applied sport psychology (mental skills), sport-specific skills training, physical training, and life performance coaching. In our work together, we can focus on any one or all of these areas. It is up to you and what you would like to accomplish.

As an athlete do you have doubts about your sport performance before or during competition? Do you perform better in practice than in games? Do you feel so nervous before or during a game that you don't play as well as you could? Do you lose focus during critical times of the game? As a coach do recognize these things in your players or yourself? Parents, do you notice some of these signs in your son or daughter?

If you answered 'Yes' to one or more of these questions, then the applied sport psychology, mental skills, or psychological readiness training that we can work together on will likely provide some help toward playing or coaching at a higher performance level and with more joy and passion.

Most athletes, coaches, and parents of athletes recognize the importance of the mental game in sport. Surprisingly, many mistakenly consider the state of their mind and behavior to be a random performance factor over which they have little control.

However, as we work together on sport psychology approaches to developing the mental aspects of training and competition, I am confident you can consistently achieve your best performances by being psychologically ready to compete.

Some of the mental aspects we can work together on include mental toughness, self-confidence, motivation, focus, imagery, self-talk, coach- and parent- created motivational climate, coach-player relationship, and parent-athlete relationship.

Aside from the mental aspects, addressing the physical aspects means we can work on helping you get stronger, faster, quicker, and more agile for your specific sport.

For the skills training part, we can work to improve the exact skills that are used in your sport, such as pitching, hitting, or fielding.

Finally, if you want to work together on the life performance area, we can address those other things that are part of your life in and outside of sport.

Importantly, the evidence-based performance coaching we can work together on will help you see future possibilities, expand past your limitations, and become a stronger, more alive individual. After all, my goal is to for us to work together so that you get better and become happier and more successful in what you do in your sport and in what you do with your life. Further, it is my belief that it is just as important to develop the whole person as it is to develop sport performance enhancement and athletic excellence.

Whether you are a player, coach, or parent of an athlete, and regardless of the area or areas you decide are most important, my coaching approach is an athlete, coach, and team-centered approach.

This means I am committed to your positive sport performance growth and development. This person-centered approach also means that I recognize that you are the expert in your sport, and I need to take the time to learn about your sport from your perspective. Too, it means that the working relationship between you and I is the most important thing needed for your success. Finally, trust, rapport, genuineness, and a belief in you as a unique, valuable, and highly functioning person defines my athlete, coach, and team-centered approach. This approach makes it much more fun, personal and rewarding for everyone involved!
